If a twist lid is not opening with the grip you have, that goes around the lid and it gives you abit more leverage and the jar WILL open - I use mine on the twist lids due to arthritis and am happy I kept it over all these years- it was my mom’s. Since you buy in bulk, consider putting the 'volatiles' like spices and nuts in the freezer in air tight containers or vacuum bags. They keep longer this way.
Otherwise, since space - particularly freezer space - comes at a premium, invest in the a good coffee/spice grinder and buy the whole spices rather than the ground up ones - again, they keep longer this way.
And for.those of us with no extra space or funds, just buy volatiles in smaller quantities. It feels like it is more expensive, but if you buy a pound of paparika and end up binning half of it - how much did you really save?
    Yep, mind blowing

Becky. I label my glass jars right on the jar with a sharpie. It wipes off with a damp cloth pretty easy. Makes labeling super easy. Also, I store all my seeds and nuts in the freezer. It extends their life considerably. I also dehydrate my nuts after I’ve soaked them for 12-24 hours and that also extends their shelf life a bit, as well as makes them easier to digest.

As long as honey isn’t contaminated when you’re using it it should never go bad. It does crystallise sometimes which is what might have happened to yours. You said you were going to organize your drawers and cabinets and I was like oh man we got a mini series on our hand let me make some popcorn. I know you thought this took too long but I thought you did this really quick!! And you didn’t even need to buy organizers. And even though you found so many extras at least you have a grocery store in the back of your house to shop from when you’re ready to refill!! I was also really pleased to see that your cabinets look just like mine if only on a larger scale. I def wouldn’t be embarrassed about them that’s real life!!! And I love that you’re so genuine and show us real life. Def inspired me to do my cabinets even though I have waaay less. For the roses I’ve used mine to make some sachets! I don’t have a sewing machine but they’re quick projects and can be taken on the go. It’s been a couple years but they still smell great. Also! Jam recipes! I’ve seen a lot of small batch lavender jame recipes but there are a couple good ones that call for roses. If you’re looking for a good audiobook rec for nonfiction check out The Story of Stuff. Really cool. The author is an environmentalist and tries to track down the resources that went into making specific items and the environmental and sometimes health impacts it’s had. it’s def given me a whole new perspective on consumerism and good stewardship.

Storage suggestion for the spices: use a small wire rack that fits inside your cabinet, put labels on the lids of the large spice jars, lay them on the shelf so that the lid is facing out, the wire rack allows you to store double the spice jars (1 above, 1 below). This has helped me tremendously and I can reach it even though it's on the top shelf. I don't know how to attach a picture.

One tip: keep preserved lemons in the refrigerator and nuts in vacuum sealed jars in the garage or basement, where it’s not heated. Finding the time (or the inclination) to do a big cleanup becomes an effort. FYI - I used to know an old bee keeper who gave our family honey. He said when Honey sugars, it is not bad. Just bring some water to boil and put the honey jar in the water for a good bit to clear it back up. Those bees work really hard to make it, seems sad to toss it when you can use it still.

Becky I love the one piece plastic mason jar lids for spices. It's so much easier to use! And the spices don't make a mess!
I'm cleaning my kitchen out too!

It looks wonderful, Becky! This will make you feel so good baking and cooking with everything organized. Great start for the new year!

Ah the declutter/clean/organize! I JUST did this to my Christmas decor after bringing up all 4 boxes and going through them while taking down and organizing the decorations I do use! So satisfying! Still have 4 giant boxes of Christmas decor BUT I also got rid of lots of things and those will be going to Goodwill for someone else to use! Loved watching your video!

Becky , lazy Susan’s come in all sort of sizes and are so useful . Such a good use of space , and you will be able to find things so much easier . For labelling , cheap labels from Amazon are so easy to use in conjunction with a sharpie . Once they are labelled ( on their side ) you ‘ll be able to spin your lazy Susan & see exactly what you have .
