Oh boy! I bought one becouse i needed a backup guitar on stage and thought ill never really use it. I have a Strat 6x more expensive with custom shop pickups as my main guitar, but..: This thing goes so hard, especially for punchy funk tones like cory wong etc. It just really snaps and pops out super percussively. Plus the slightly shorter scale makes it so effortless to play (to me). The guitar was set up perfectly, no rough edges or any flaws, and a really comfortable action. What i really love is the fixed bridge (i guess thats where the snap comes from, it really feels different), and the input: the cable sits in there so tight it probably wont come out if you step on it and its one bigrubber piece instead of multiple metal things that unscrew themself. So: I now have the trouble to choose when i play. I never thought ill gig with a 300 dollar guitar but here we are^^
Thank you for sharing! So happy to hear that! I love the AZES very much! Great bridge! Comfortable next feel. Those pickups are costumed in Japan. That little switch is very useful too.
I'm definitely in love with my AZES40, which has been with me for a year. Just did some minor mods, like replacing the nut and string trees, fret end filing and polishing... Now it's my everyday guitar. Thank you Prof. Fujita for this video.
So happy to hear that! Good job! Thank you!
Great guitar. I've owned it for a couple of months and I can't get enough of it.
Thank you! Please enjoy more!
Great and smooth Tomo. Just a really pristine guitar!
Thank you so much!
My AZES31 just arrived last week and I absolutely love it! I am so much happier with a hardtail strat at this point. And I really appreciate all of the tones available with the extra switching. Great guitar! 🎸
Super happy to hear that! Thanks so much for sharing! Yes!!
Nice demo. I bought this guitar for my brother's birthday last month (Ivory). He's 77 and has only owned/played a nylon string guitar. It has opened a whole new world for him and I'm glad it's this guitar that kicked it off. I told him if he ends up not liking it to send it to me and I'll pay for shipping. LOL. He really loves his new Ibanez.
Lovely story! Thank you for sharing! Fantastic!
Nice to hear, thumbs up 👍
What a coincidence I was just sharing with you 2 days ago about my azes40 purchase. Would have gotten this if I weren't a beginner who wants the versatility of a HSS. Plays really well
Good job! I love the AZES40 too! So versatile!
What a display of skills to show off a great guitar that you obviously enjoyed playing too
Guitar is so much fun! Thank you!
Thank you Mr.Fujita.
Fender amp /Ibanez sounds are good seting.👍
Thanks so much!
リズミカル!!!
日本人として、誇りを持ち直しました。ありがとうございます。フェスタレッド? いい感じです。
ありがとうございます!とっても嬉しいです!
Not even for just the price point, but in general, these are some of the best sounding instruments I’ve tried in a while, and for the price, you can’t beat it. Will be using one on stage in the near future.
So happy to hear that! Thank you for sharing! Please do!
In November 2021, I bought the AZES40, and the more I play it, the more magic I find on it.
The neck feels damn well, it’s so easy to play.
And the circuit design(pickup position), I am not Kidding you, it’s outrageous, you can even get a Tele or Gibson sound.
The only drawback is that it sounds a little dark, but this is when you need to learn to EQ.
I will recommend any electric guitar beginners this guitar, it’s the evolution of technology, and the nostalgia for classic electric guitar tone.
Funny enough it was the darker sound that attracted me to it over the pacifica equivalent.
I was so lucky of be in this Ibanez AZES design team. I am so grateful making this guitar to the world! I think I should be proud more! Set those pickups as low as you can get!
I have one too. Love it.
@@TomoFujitaMusic Not many people can say they had a hand in the overall design of any guitar. That’s why you’re not just an amazing player, you really know what it takes to build a high quality guitar. Many people doing reviews of this are super impressed with the one piece input jack design that never comes loose! No other guitar on the market has that. Just an amazing guitar at a great price. However, i’m more interested in the humbucker model. The AZES-40. Do you plan on doing a video on that one anytime soon? They won’t be available until the middle of June so i’m really looking forward to buying one once they become available.
Thanks so much for your kind words. I bought many cheap electric guitars around $100-$300 range and I found similar parts problems so my dream to make a budget guiar that last for many years. That was one of major issue on budget guitars. This way instead of keep buying a few similar price point guitars. You can play this for 3-5 years at least then go for next guitar. Yes!
For a MOMENT I thought "I should see how far along this video is, because 8 minute demos are long..."
And THEN I see the suggested videos pop up, WOW that went fast!
AMAZING work Mr. Fujita!
God Bless you ALL!
Thank you so much!
Mini live performance!
Great to hear that!
I got one of these about a year ago. I was looking for a cheap tele to mod and upgrade. The Ibanez caught my eye because it had tons of birds eye on the neck. It was better than the Squires I tried, and does the bridge and neck pup thing, so brought it home
The idea was to upgrade almost everything, but so far it stays in tune very well, so tuners, bridge and nut are fine; I really like the bridge! Pups and electronics were going to go, but it sounds good already, and I like it more the more I play it; pots are scratchy though.
Other than the pots, my only complaint is that the frets were scratchy, but it is only $300, and similar priced guitars were worse. I spent an hour polishing frets, along with tightening nuts and screws, and then it played very well.
Looks cool, sounds great, can’t beat the price, and is unique! Sort of modern, vintage, and pawn shop prize, all in one!
Thank you for sharing. I have been teaching for many years! Over 30 years Berklee alone. I often saw my students who got pretty cheap electric guitars that many parts are falling down! So I always wanted to have relative lower budge price but the quality of important parts: Tuner, frets, bridge, saddles... So I was so lucky to work the AZES project with Ibanez team. Personally I requested very specific quality on the bridge & the saddles as great as close to custom shop grade! And they did it! I am so happy! I still cannot believe what they came up with that price point! Unbelievable! Thankful! No need to change any parts!
Any guitar will sound good in your hands.
I always wanted an AZES40 Mint Green 🤤
What a great guitar! Thank you! Great one!
Beautiful
Thank you!
P.S, as much as i love my Yamaha Pacifica, i love that this Ibanez AZES40 has a much less bulky body and much lighter body with super comfortable contours all over it. This makes a big difference when playing for long periods of time because it prevents your neck from getting stiff and sore. Especially for us older guys like myself who also have arthritis.
Thank you so much for sharing! Good hand exercises will help! Walk every day! Sleep well! I love the AZES series!
This is such an amazing guitar for this price. Especially the AZES40 with the tremelo. However, i wish you would have suggested to Ibanez to install a stock bone or GraphTech nut for only $5.00 more for much better tuning stability. The one piece output jack you designed is amazing as well as the smooth rounded saddles for comfort. I bought the AZES40 which i absolutely love but i will be replacing the cheap plastic nut with a high quality GraphTech nut like i have on my Yamaha Pacifica so it returns back in tune when using the tremelo. I’m also super impressed with the switching system and even the sound of the pickups. I am surprised at just how good they sound for both clean sounds and high gain rock and metal sounds. So i have no intention of changing them out because they are absolutely perfect. For only $349.00, this amazing guitar can play any genre of music you want to play. So only having to replace the nut is a minimal upgrade. I also absolutely love the neck on this guitar. The fret ends were absolutely flawless but the tops were a little rough so all i had to do is go over them with some steel wool. Now they’re super smooth for bending notes. I also love the unfinished neck which was also a little rough and i also went over with some steel wool. Now it’s super smooth and probably the best neck on any guitar i’ve ever owned.
Thank you for sharing! So happy to hear that. Thank you!
Beautiful playing. Made the guitar stand proudly amongst much more expensive options.
Thank you so much!
That is a beautiful sound......😊😊😊😊
Thank you!
At this rate tomo san is going to have to get a bigger guitar room
He can keep some at my place.
No charge.
We did not design for this! I will work on gear diet!
Very nice.... thanks 😎
Thank you!
I can listen to you play all day while you have fun noodling with your other love which is ANY guitar!! In my eyes your playing seems effortless but alas i KNOW its years of practice. I am newly retired and the Ibanez HSS seems to be for me!!! More jazzy n blues versatile.
I practice my foundation part everyday (Boring part!) first so my performance part will do better! Thank you so much!
Ibanez knows too what is better place for volume pot 👍. I always scratch my knuckles on Stratocaster volume knob cause I play palm on the bridge when soloing. Comping is everywhere😂.
I have first one's Ibanez GRG-140 mahogany body, H-S-S pickups, 24-frets sunburst. I love it.
It costed back then 179€ 😸.
Thank you!
Saving up for an azes40, these guitars are so good! Looking for the 40 version because of the HSS and the tremolo which I would die without 😂
What a great guitar! You can buy both and swap it!
@@TomoFujitaMusic it would be lovely 😂😂 but as soon as I get my hands on one, I will definitely let you know! You helped with the production of these models, did I hear correctly?
@@RubenTura Thank you! Yes!
I've been considering this model for a long while.
Here some «remote» considerations on the line :
It is well born line of guitar
25" scale length makes it unique.
The fret board radius is great.
The Dina-Mix8 seems to do great things out of SSS guitar.
The Dina-Mix9 too but it feels less necessary in the context of a HSS.
Some people will regret having a SSS guitar without vibrato.
Single coils only Ibanez guitars are uncommon, it is a really strong point of the line you designed.
The HSS model is a redondant with many other Ibanez models.
The humbucker feels out of place in this line, dual rails may blend in better.
I should refrain to share my opinion when is not required but I can't help it, sometimes my brain forget about minding his own business…
So I would like consider the line evolve in the following direction :
AZES40 :
SSS (straight)
5 way switch
1 Vol 1 tone
vibrato
299€
AZES31 :
SS (slanted)
3 way switch
1 Vol 1 Tone
hardtail
279€
The idea is to cut some features to keep both SKU under 299€ while delivering «faultless» student models.
The slanted p'ups would bring extra identity to the SS model, I actually wonder about having the bridge not slanted in the SSS model. The Duo Sonic does that successfully. I also heard nice thing from old Yamaha electric guitar.
In the end both models would be distinct from one another and from the bulk of nowadays production. The pickup position (slanted or not) would make the p'ups sound different too.
A set of matched dual rails essential, would be used in both model in the bridge and neck position. I could see a Fast track and the Cruiser neck as good reference points.
So whereas there would be a loss of versatility (from cutting the dina-mix8), the SSS model would retain the single coil sound identity while providing noiseless operations in 4 out of 5 positions. The SS would be completely noiseless
Too many switching options can be distracting especially for student, simplicity and familiarity with well known model is easily advertised. The dina-mix8 looks great but I would save it for a «Premium» line of guitar.
It may kill violoning effect but I would push the volume pot further away, closer to the tone pot, pretty much were the dina-switch is.
The grey/black nut looks a little weird, a lighter color would be a more usual match.
Again, I just humbling sharing my idea I mean no disrespect to you and the work you put in those guitars and I hope the line and your collaboration with Ibanez will go on.
Thank you for sharing! I Iove the AZES
Thank you so much!
If this video, doesn't sell these guitars, nothing will :) amazing playing, great tone. Nobody can bitch about the ceramic pickups in these.
Ibanez just caught up with their back orders of this guitar. Doing really well! I am so thankful. Great guitar!
hello sir tomo! i decided that i finally wanted to buy my own first guitar (because i have been using my uncle’s hand-me-down guitar to play so far). can i know which you recommend more? the sterling cutlass ct30 hss or the ibanez azes40?
Great! The AZES40 all the way!
Mr. Tomo emezing

I played one in guitar store, it is the best guitar for the price
Thank you!
Tomo check out Schecter’s new line the MV-6
Thank you for sharing!
Dig it.
Thank you!
I am going to play a lot of hard rock like Iron Maiden, Iron Maiden plays on Fender Stratocasters. Will these AZES40 be better guitars than Squier classic Vibe guitars that are a bit more expensive ? The Ibanez could not possibly sound as close to a Fender Strat than a Squier Classic Vibe ? I am thinking for playing a lot of Iron Maiden which guitar will be best for the money , I could always put a Dimarzio Super Distortion Humbucker pickup in the bridige on anyone of these guitars which is a pickup commonly used by Iron Maiden guitar players. What do you think ? Ibanez or a bit more expensive Squier ?
This guitar is so amazing tone & great quality as this price point! I love it!
You can check it so you know what exactly sounds like. Thank you.
I miss the Road star/blazer headstock.
Thank you for sharing!
@@TomoFujitaMusic sounds very full. I think fender stratocaster pickups have way less low end.
Can be a good or bad thing ...
@@TomoFujitaMusic Love love your playing tho. Thank you thank you. I have very fond memories towards a Roadstar II. It was and is a true love. Japanese made instruments rule.
@@FransvandenBergeMuziekschuur Thank you! I own that guitar.
"Funk Town " 😂🎸🔥🏆
Thank you!
Cheaper guitars are really good.
Thank you for sharing!
@@TomoFujitaMusic Ah...I would love to see you play the flying v behind you hahaha
