One of the best types of CZcams channels is watching g someone talk about what they are passionate about. I love heritage clothing but my knowledge is not that deep. Watching you talk about the clothing and also teaching, makes my day, keeps me going. Thank you!
You've taken the Almost outta' Vintage Style. In a good way. That is a very cool jacket. It's such a good pre-WWII look. I particularly like the cuff design on the Hercules and the fit across your shoulders is just brilliant.
congrats for your new active channel again Jake, i guess with vintage jacket or leather product in general over the years the dye also has oxidized or UV faded the natural way that no new leather will achieve anytime soon unless being "tricked up" to speed up the aging process or you wear the new jacket in harsh climate with a lot of sun and rain or outdoor living like one or two members from FDL has done to their brand new jacket to get incredible looking patina/ vintaging their own brand new Aero or from other makers naturally through their lifestyle within their own lifespan, but people who do this usually have one or 2 leather jackets and they extremely enjoy wearing it and enjoying outdoor living, bushcrafting for real not for a photo shooting sessions.
My Good Wear Hercules is a very accurate reproduction. John actually was able to acquire an original made in 1936-1937, and goes into details about the cuffs, the collar, the fold down inner collar, even the labels etc. He took apart the original, and based his pattern off that. Enjoyed the video Jake.
I had a Good Wear Hercules and it is excellent, but as I said, it does do away with some accuracy in favor of a more flattering look. I don't blame him at all, it's just something worth noting.
Yes, I prefer authenticity with quarks over objective perfection. One reason I love pnw boots (which I know you're not a fan of). My dad was a tailor and acquired a lot of leather jackets so I have some nice old jackets.
Thanks! I'm not against them, I'm more against the excuses that they and some of their fans make for them. Theyre clesrly solid boots. I actually love Wesco and viberg engineer designs, but I can't fit in the Wesco ones and viberg stopped making their beautiful 2005 last engineers ☹️
I don’t really wear leather jackets (I have one my parents bought for me years ago, but it’s not an especially nice one), but I do enjoy your talks about them. It’s invigorating to hear such passion. What are the two or three things you love about leather jackets?
Thanks very much! The biggest reason is because I just think they look cool. I don't think they're really all that practical to be honest. I just think they look awesome and make me feel great.
Do you have a video of an exhaustive list of quality vintage leather jacket brands you know of or have come across? Here in Korea, I see a few good jackets in the vintage stores but knowing some brands to look out for would be awesome especially knowing I picked it up for a steal
@@almostvintagestyle I had an opportunity to buy one, good condition but it was $4500 and I couldn’t afford it at the time. You got a great deal and from the looks of it, it looks in good shape. I’m still waiting for the feature on this guy!!!!!
I'm really curious why to avoid wool in brimmed heats. I have one vintage Prague made one and one modern and they fare great over the years as my winter heats, especially with snow
All hatters I've talked to agree it's. Poor material for felt hats. It doesn't do as well in rain, it's either too soft and floppy or like cardboard, and it can shrink much more than rabbit or beaver
@@almostvintagestyle hopefully I get some rabbit one to compare it with. With out compassion they fare great in my use case but I believe it could be something I need to experience as the transition from timberland to Goodyear welted full leather stuff was for me. Not Shure it could be that dramatic but maybe it is
Hey Jake, once again just an incredible jacket. thanks for showing this stuff bro it reminds me what i'm working to. bloody great stuff man, keep em coming!! Edit: Dude! you have every right to brag about your jacket, god knows i'd be bragging about it to!!
A video on T-shirts would be awesome!
Thanks! I'm glad people want that. I will definitely have to make it soon.

Thank you so much! I really appreciate it. Editing is not my thing, but I am quite passionate about this subject
Excellent breakdown Jake!
Thanks Carl! Glad to hear it🍻
Very cool Jacket, Jake, and good to see the boot wall back! 😉
Thanks! It's great to have it back!
Interesting comparison! And yes, video about headgear would be cool.
Glad you're interested! I'll try to film that soon

Thanks! Really appreciate it! I do love how it fits me in the shoulders. In general the vintage jackets fit me better there
@@almostvintagestyleWhat is it about the vintage jackets' fit in particular that you prefer? Are repos not matching the vintage cuts accurately?
That's a beautiful warm contrast with that shirt, beautiful ❤
Thank you! Much appreciated
Kin love this channel Jake!!! its very informative, thank you mang!!
Thank you! I'm really glad to hear that
jake, spot on on that it's predominantly chrome back in the day.
Thanks! I love veg tan, Boston most vintage leather jackets don't use it

Yeah thats true. There's no way to speed thst up really. Thanks for the kind words!
Thanks for the video! Can you do a leather jacket maintenance/care video? How do you keep your old jackets in good condition over the years?
I will be doing that fairly soon
I do got interest in hat, but i have not experience wearing hat before and i got no idea what i should look for
I'll make the guide then. Hopefully it will help!

No I don't yet. I would say it depends more on condition than the maker itself.
Just out of curiosity, where did you get your Hercules jacket repaired? It looks great
The guy I bought it from sent it to someone he knew in Japan actually
I found them before but they were either not for sale and if they were for sale they were not my size OR I wasn’t able to afford them 😅
Thanks for the clarification! Either way, not easy to obtain!

What's the most a leather jacket can be shortened in the chest area?
Do you mean taken in? Probably depends on the jacket, but I'd never bother altering the pattern like that. I'd sell and get a jacket that fits better

Insane fit on that Hercules!!!
