    Thank you for taking the time and going through so many and with exacting detail. So helpful. And you make clear your tastes and preferences and then suggest how others might prefer otherwise---a fine liberality of opinion. I often prefer a heavier tee: Iron Heart (loop wheeled) and, yes, the new Wonder Looper (really weighty). Why? We get less than four months of warm weather---it's not about the rugged thing, it's about staying comfortably warm. Excellent drape too. These are both heavier than TFH, which I also really like. I love the loop wheel texture on The Real McCoy's and they wear well over time (as we would expect). An outlier from this style but worthy of mention is...Sunspel, the classic tee. The Sunspel has seams but the fabric on the classic model is thin, summer perfect, and elegant enough to dress up. Thanks again, your natural, unscripted presentation is much appreciated.

      Thanks so much for the kind words! Ah yes, you do live in quite a cool area so I can certainly understand wanting thicker t shirts. I'd like to try Wonder Looper just to experience how they feel and drape. I'm glad you appreciated how I laid out my biases. I definitely learned more about why people like heavier t shirts just by doing this video.

    REALLY enjoyed that, massive thanks to you! The things I look for in tees are different to yours, and I do love heavier shirts, but then I live in Scotland. For me, the Strike Gold is the sweet spot, it's perfect. I've bodyswerved the Stanley and Skivvy because they're made by Mister Freedom and I can actually afford them, so I assumed they were crap - I guess I was wrong. Dubbleworks' heavyweight OD pocket tee would definitely make my list, and Samurai's ripened cotton is one I want to try based on how much I love the Samurai tees I already have. Merz B and Sunray Sportswear are favourites both for their quality and environmental credentials, one thing that I thought was missing from the vid. Otherwise, brilliant!

    Thanks for this! I am going to Japan for the first time in September, spending three weeks between Tokyo and Osaka. I am extremely excited to check out some of these, especially the tezomeya. I wear my shirts tucked, but mostly because many of them fit long, as a fellow 5'7" guy, I rarely find an untucked shirt short enough for my liking, but when I do I love it. And of course I'll be looking into bringing back a pair or two of engineers (looking at Moto and Lofgrens or Clinch if I can find some that fit me) a leather jacket (looked a few times at your best leather jackets videos) and some shirts and jeans. Your videos have really helped me!

    Wow! Comprehensive review indeed. I'm in total agreement with you about t-shirt design. I don't like the billowy and boxy designs of most shirts. Worn by itself, t shirts should be able to be worn tucked or untucked without all of the extra fabric. And, if worn as an undershirt, it should also not extra bulk. I have to say that the Kirkland brand white t shirts are a real value. Just the right amount of thickness and very durable. I bought a 4 pack about 10 years ago and still going strong!

  • @Threedog92

    Yeah, further comparison of t-shirts, especially the „cheaper“ ones like Bronson would be nice. I have not so much experience with so many brands (they are a little hard to get were I come from and I’m not a big fan of online ordering if I‘m not 100% sure the stuff fit me) and you make good comparisons😄

    Great video mate, very informative. For someone like me who lives in the UK and ideally prefer heavy weight t shirts I would ideally go with Samurai and loop & weft t shirts. 100% agree regards to the warehouse, also, pure blue Japan tshirts are incredible IMO. An aspect I was missing to hear is durability, how they survive washes etc. but as said, overall a great informative one.

    I thought about getting the Merz b. Schwanen heavyweight but what you said about layering really gave me clarity: I would never wear a heavy t-shirt in cold weather as I would choose a sweater over it, and I would rather wear a light t-shirt in warmer weather.
    I know the heavier shirts are supposed to be durable and last a while, but considering your experience, is your lightweight Merz b. Schwanen shirt durable to the point where the difference is negligible? Durability/longevity is pretty much a big factor for me when purchasing.

    • @almostvintagestyle
      @almostvintagestyle  Před 4 měsíci +2

      As long as you are taking care of your t shirts, I would say the difference wouldn't be too major. Obviously, a snag on a then would ruin a thinner t shirt easier, but that'd not a normal situation.

I would highly recommend you try my go to everyday white T. Merz 1970’s U neck. Do you recall if any stood as having really wide shoulders? I have 17 shoulders, 33 waist and 38-39 chest but with wide lats and slightly broad shoulders(powerlifter) , M usually is just a hair snug on the shoulder and lats under armpit, enough to cause discomfort on my traps, yet i look like im drowning in an L.
    A 40 chest M tee looks roomy on me but the top shoulder/traps/lat area will start to hurt within 10min of wear.

    Do you prefer the 114 Merz or the Eastman US navy? Neck looks wider on the 114 -- would you say that's correct?
    I think we have the same taste in t-shirts -- love the look of the 114 Merz. I own a couple 215s and have been nervous about how wide the neck of the 114 is, without seeing them in person, even as someone who admires and prefers a wider neck. Certainly a fine line to walk.
