    what i loved about Leon Spinks is , he new just who he was. what i really hated , was people calling him dumb. he was just leon .

      Leon always had his issues with speech regardless of the boxing activity.

      Yes he did slur his speech for a long time. As a child he slurred. Despite his slurring he was intelligent enough to defeat The Greatest Muhammad Ali. Rest In Paradise Leon.

    I watched Spinks win the gold in Montreal 76 and have always regarded him with the utmost respect and admiration. He was truly a boxer of exceptional talent.

    Spinks brothers was amazingly great fighter, both won gold medal in Olympic, come with different characters, they were so fun to watch especially Leon, what a funny guy he was. Michael admire his older brother so much shows how humble he was.

    Leon Spinks was a good fighter at one point. RIP Neon Leon (Feb ‘21)
    I’ve always loved lean Spinks as a champion despite his record and personal issues. Rip champ, u will be missed.

    This brings me great joy in nostalgia. I collected all things Leon. Being a young boxer myself, he inspired me. Yeas I know he has an impediment.. doesn’t bother me in the least.

    Speaking of boxers -- Don -- can you trace the origin of the "my head feels like it wansa buss open" catchphrase? I'm not sure if I'm remembering correctly but I seem to recall that Dave first used it when he was talking about watching a boxer in a post-bout interview. The earliest example I've found on youtube is Feb 12, 1987 (czcams.com/video/M9pe2kZqOhs/video.html ). I didn't hear him use it during the 5th Anniversary special so I'm wondering if it originated that 2nd week of February 1987.

      Ali had dyslexia. Of course most boxers are literate, but like any athletes, it's not a requirement for their success.
