Nevada State Railroad Museum - Boulder City
A couple years ago I visited the Nevada State Railroad Museum in Carson City for the Great Western Steam Up. This time we're checking out the Boulder City location, built on the former Union Pacific Boulder City Branch that was used to build Boulder Dam. We'll be riding in a former Union Pacific caboose for this trip. Our power for today is none other than Union Pacific 844!...that is, the GP30 that forced the more famous steam locomotive to take the number 8444 for a couple decades. While the Boulder City Branch is physically connected to the national network again after rebuilding a bridge over I-11, for now trains only run up to the edge of the bridge.

Steam Train Ride on the Grand Canyon Railway!
zhlédnutí 524Před měsícem
The Grand Canyon Railway operates over 64 miles of former ATSF track from Williams, AZ to Grand Canyon Village at the South Rim of the Canyon. The 2 1/2 hr ride takes you through brush, desert, and high, dry deserts before arriving at one of the scenic wonders of the world. Along the way, hosts will entertain you and give you some important information about the Canyon and the areas around. But...
BNSF Freight along Route 66 in Arizona
zhlédnutí 237Před 2 měsíci
About a month ago I took a trip down to Arizona. On my way to my main destination, I spent some time railfanning along Route 66 between Kingman, AZ and Seligman, AZ. For the most part I found myself following one eastbounder, but there were some westbounds as well. Sadly, my timing was not good enough to get an over-under shot at Truxton Flyover.

Another round of freight trains at Titlow Park in Tacoma, WA. Four of the five are southbound, and curiously all of them are mixed manifests. There was also one northbound grain train.
Trains in Kent

Following on from the last video, here's a few of the trains I saw while in Kent, Washington. More went by than this, but these were the ones I was able to film. Filmed largely at the current Kent Sounder Station
Sounder Ride - South Tacoma to Kent

In today's video, we'll be taking a ride on Sound Transit's Sounder Commuter Rail line from South Tacoma to Kent, looking out the north/west window of the train. Sounder began operations in 2000 between Seattle and Tacoma, and extended operations to South Tacoma and Lakewood in 2012. Future plans call for a further extension south to DuPont by 2045. For the first part of this video, we'll be ri...

Awesome to catch crossing trains that size!
This vid will go so well with some thunder and lightning during the magic hour background. Thanks for posting!!!!
It’s Batman 😅
Great video! What I love about 484 was she was used as the circus train in in the 3rd Indiana Jones film.
Wonderful capture. Love it. Greetings Joe 😊
They Should have KNOWN THIS is TOO much TRAIN for a C18 locomotive ! The C18 tractive weight effort is way to light ... its Embarrassing for sure : (
Tractive effort wasn't the problem; once it got out of the yard, the train made it all the way to Osier and back as planned, without a helper (We saw the train entering Osier for lunch later on). The problem was at least partly the sanders being clogged.
Haha my wife and I are in the beginning of the video. Really cool!
it was such an amazing day for tacoma.
Rode it in 2000 and 2007. My son had just got out of the Air Force in 2007and we were taking his car back to Wisconsin from Tacoma Washington. We saw Winslow Arizona, Meteor Crater, Grand Canyon and the petrified forest. We rode from Chama as we had done in 2000 to get double headed power to Osier. My son was a C17 mechanic at McChord AFB. My family and I were getting lunch when we heard an overwhelming roar from the west. We ran to the east windows in time to see a C17 blast over at low altitude, stand up on it's right wing and peel around one of the mountains. We recognized the green tail feathers of a McChord bird and my son said "i just worked on that bird 4 days ago!". My son found out later that McChord pilots were doing radar controlled terrain avoidence in the area and that's what we saw. Thanks for the video, it brought back some magic moments.
😍😍😍😍

Nice to see that at least some stuff has been painted.
A historic moment for the city! Kudos!
I was there with my girlfriend this day :D
Kinda crazy that we as a society have used government taxes to build all these roads and highways simply for a product - a ford, a chevy, a honda, etc. I hope that people realize we don't need four lane roads or 10 lane highways, we don't need all these cars. Just walkable areas with access to public transportation!
Cool, love seeing footage of things like this.
I can see myself in the video xD yayayay
the hill on old city hall aint that steep
@@catofmtb you’re killing me 😭 😭
Great video - like...
Great video, we have tickets to ride in the caboose next Wednesday.
Wow! A Safetran Type 3 Electronic Bell for Washington State, it should be high pitch, not low pitch.
Tacoma Dome is a great place for railfanning 😀. Love the beautiful K5LA train horn 😌👍.
WP 165 has a beautiful whistle. . .
Indeed! I got to ride her once for the pumpkin patch train in 2022. This is embarrassing but it was the first locomotive i ever saw in person
@@futfhifak4930 Well, good for you! I hope you will get to see more locomotives in person, especially steam locomotives, because they are much more interesting and exciting to watch, at least in my opinion. . .
Nice video. Such a great event. I wish I was there!
Cylinder cocks, . . . . ? ? ? ?
Is this train with 161 going to la
Not right now. It's stuck in Seattle area until UP repairs fire damage in northern CA. They're just using it for testing while it's available.

@@socaltrainfan3700 after several weeks limited to the Seattle-Klamath Falls mini-Starlight, 161 headed south today to Los Angeles. Should be there sometime on the 24th. It's apparently due in Chicago in early September, so get it now!
