How to upgrade AJP PR7 Motorcycle to LED auxiliary lights

The AJP PR7 has adequate lights, but if you are trail riding at night you may want something that increases visibility and safety. This film explains how I mounted and wired in a set of auxiliary Vision X Solstice LED lights. Note: cutting your wiring may invalidate your warranty! Love motorcycles and photography? Great idea, now if it could power the quadlock wireless charger through the garmin charge points that would be even better
So with the passing of time have the issues mentioned been fixed up with with updates etc? In the market now. Love your work.
Short at 6"7 ? Do you mean 5"7 ?
It's been very inspiring to hear your story. Thanks for sharing!
Bloody great vid!
Question about InReach... I will register InReach physically while I am in Japan before my trip to the U.S. and Germany, but will it work while I am in those countries after I leave Japan on my vacation, or do I have to re-register InReach every time I go to another country?
Thank you for your video. I have a question, I downloaded an OpenStreet map of Japan onto a MicroSD card and then placed it in my Garmin Montana 750i, but it did not work. I unzipped it and just loaded all the files. Did I do something wrong? Could you please provide me with instructions on how to do this? Thank you.
The usual story ,buy bike, rave about it, then sell it,you are not alone😀😀😀
Was on a 4 day ride a few days ago ,the 690 bouncing all over the place.IMHO they are not that good off road but other people seem happy enough with them, they do track well across sketchy terrain at speed
I have the 525exc fully restored from 2003! fine on the road ,not as comfy as an adv/trail bike but still. good.Very nice off road.I like your build!
Maybe weld some Aluminium extensions on the skidplate for protect the headerpipe more.
Just stumbled across your channel. Good story 👍 I bought a second hand 2012 exc during lockdown as I was living with me ex and her family on a small holding in the New Forest and thought I’d take advantage of the easy access to the Hampshire trails and improve my bike riding ability. Shortly after the easing off lockdown she gave me my marching orders and now I’m back in central london and it’s such an effort to get out and find anywhere to make use of the bike but I’m heavily invested in the bike and kit I’d be gutted to let it go. So your long range adventures have given. E hope and as soon as my broken collarbone heals (another long dirtbike related story) I think I’ll plan a trip to Europe too. The only mod I’ve done so far (not mechanically minded either) is try to upgrade the light as it’s all but useless. It’s not gone so well. I got a 3x3 row led headlamp (from some eBay site)but can only get the top row of lights to come on and once, go ing home from a day out with the TRF, they didn’t come on at all and I’m completely stumped as to why they don’t work. This has led me to consider the baja design light but they are so expensive I’m a bit worried I’m about to waste more money, I liked you light but I prefer the look of the standard light and shroud.
😊 domanda... La PR7 usata si vende bene come una 690? Ha la stessa richiesta?
AJP all day
Amazingly well shot and composed videos, and you guys seem like a great bunch. Love everything about this.
Amazing the way you explain it, thanks a lot!
Agreed. These 12-16 bikes are the tits. I love my 15' 501 just as much. So glad I didn't sell. Oh and no, that is the only sizable tank I could find. I have the same one. I think it looks just fine. 4.1 gallons is pretty nice. There is an IMS tank part number 112423-N2 that also fits, however it's only 3.1 gallons and you need some different hardware to utilize it. The plus with the IMS is the brass threaded inserts.
glad I found this again, couldn't find it on Vimeo. Love watching it every time.
Constructive criticism: Sometimes it's hard to follow which bike is being talked about.
Sidi Adventure 2 for waterproofness and ability to walk around of the bike
PR7 is better
Excellent work
Great idea. Well done!
Great video lads 👍👍👍👍
Interesting to watch. One question, since it seemed that the oil wasn't warm when it was let out. As far as I know it is SUPER important to ONLY empty the oil out when the engine is warm. Was it warm or cold?
Gracias por contarnos tus experiencias, sin duda siempre aprenderemos!
The real "adventure bikes"
I think I'm going to have to follow Greg's lead. The 701 is going, light is right 501 build is in the future.
If I lived in the UK there would be absolutely no doubt I would own a CCM! Im so frustrated they won't open up to USA . I understand the expense but damn I want one!
Thx 4 this video 👍
2 years later and the PR7 is STILL the only bike I would seriously consider as a replacement for my 701 (other than another 690/701). Kove maybe once they've been in the market long enough that I know they won't fall apart.
I know this is cheaky but could you give me an ideaof the route . Please
I'm in the U.S. and have not been able to find a mount for the 700 series. I have found one that included wiring, which I do not want.
Any new videos planned for 2024 Greg?
Y no sería mejor una moto de enduro o una trail?🤔
Good crack.
Man, You are talking straight from the heart or something. I dont usually stay for such long videos but You really charmed me with the story! haha, neat
Thanks man! I do love this bike.
Hey Greg! Is 5000km on a 450 enduro bike a lot?
Hi! I don't think so. My 450 now has about 30,000km on it.
You might just said the final word for me. I think I'm gonna buy it :D Big Thanks!@@GregVillalobos
I just repaired the snapped bolt on my side stand as well. I just had it on the stand in the garage, and I hurt a pop. The next thing I know the bike is on the ground. The bolt just snapped off inside the housing. I drilled it out and was able to back it out with a back out bit. I got lucky. fixed it for about $5
That's a lucky fix. Good job.
I was like: huh they are wearing masks. But then I remember there was covid
Indeed - Covid was a thing not so long ago! :-)
Long time no see Greg, all good? How’d the rebuild go?
Bike is now on Piston 2 and about 30,000km. Running well!
did you say 60K or 16K on the bike ?
At the time 16k
Great video!
Glad you enjoyed it
HI Greg - just watched your video 🙂 - used to ride Enduro, now retired and thinking about stuff like the TET to wile away the summer months :-)) which bike - in your opinion - would be the better option. And can I ask what dealer yougot your PR7 from - I live in the Scottish Borders, so not a million miles away from you I don't think. Thanks - Stevie
Stevie - I can't possibly tell you what bike to get, sorry! My PR7 was from AJP but the nearest dealer is MHB Motorcycles in Kirkby Stephen
I'm curious on how ownership was. I'm looking at getting a 2023/2024 model. Parts availability, reliability being the main concern. Coming off a Tuareg so looking for a lighter platform capable of technical stuff. Nothing insane. But wanted to see how it was holding up, if there were issues and if it has served you well?
I just picked up one myself and intend do take over the PR7 "torch" here on CZcams after Greg now that he doesn't own one anymore 😁 big shoes to fill though..
Hi! Keep watching and you'll see the other PR7 films that cover ownership right up to selling it.
Go for it! Keep the torch going :-)
just watching again as it is a great series and as an exc500 owner we are somehow distantly connected - so , after the rebuild where is the bike at in your life? Tip top and happy ?
Bike is approaching 30,000km and 700hrs - it's running well
@@GregVillalobos nice, mine is at 300 hours and tickety boo
good minimal gear right there
Loved watching this Greg. For me, it's not just about the bike. It's a personal journey for every rider. Anybody with money can buy any bike they want, with all the kit they need, but the majority are like you and me. Just super enthusiastic amateurs, who enjoy the process of learning and creating, as well as the riding and exploring of those beautiful hard to get to places. And the friendship and camaraderie that goes with it. ❤
Thanks!
Hi! Where are you at these days? Why no more videos?😢
Hi - thanks for the message. My day job at Adventure Spec and young family are taking up all my attention right now. I've been prioritising who gets my limited time.
@@GregVillalobos hi! Thanks for the quick reply! I'm on my way to getting a 2024 pr7, years after watching your videos. I've bought quite a few clothes from adventure specs also and have been hitting some trails on various occasions! Thanks for all the inspiration from this channel, and all the best on your (not so new but still recent) path! Hope to cross paths at some point on a bike ;) keep it up!
This was a terrible idea perfectly executed ! Excellent work fellas.
Thanks!
