True john I look at all the flavours I have and wish I had enough time to go fishing to use them all 😂

I made my own baits since I took up carp fishing in the early nineties. Some baits were good some were incredible. I smiled when I heard you mention some companies, as I used them myself and know how good some of those flavours were. Used in a 50/50 attractor mix on their own they were brilliant. As I developed my skill and understanding of the carp and it's olfactory system, it's digestive system and dietary requirements, I began including ingredients that were specifically included to present bait that was nutritionally beneficial for the carp and my results concluded that fresh, nutritional valued baits that met the carps dietary requirements outfished poor quality with a flavour as the label and attractor only was not the way forward. Watching your videos John has given me confidence, that I was on to something following the research. Your videos mentioned a lot of the logic behind your base mixes mine also followed the same logic. Subtle is far more palatable and stimulatory than too much of something or overloaded and repellent to the carp at too high a rate of inclusion. When the Carp actually can be observed congregating in numbers in the area your bait has been introduced hunting out the last remaining bait in the clear water, and going into a frenzy when more is introduced is something to behold . Thanks to you John I was able to witness that reaction from Carp having learned a great deal from your own research and sharing that information with us. Paste was the word and how to utilise it that really changed my fishing. It was you John that was instrumental in changing my bait making and fishing. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us.

Get on John Baker baits! Honestly guys, find the time time to roll your own. It really does give you an edge with JB baits! I can personally recommend Bio fish with AS and Plum!

Not sure where or when I heard this but in Australia farmers were having issues with rabbits that were eating they're fence posts. It was later discovered that the rabbits were deficient in something, and whatever the fence posts were treated with had what the rabbits were deficient in. 🧠🐰

Have used your products over years , and have just received latest shellfish and ala Salar , and plum , and I have a vitamin /amino acid product I got from Jason Ryder who you may know , and wondered if I can include this in my hookbaits

Been Carp fishing since 1984. Only used 3 different bait companies over that time. But I still get caught up in all the hype of these different bait companies. After watching this video it brings everything back to the basics of bait making. Its a pleasure to hear someone being so honest about how simple it can and should be. Thank you for that.

Can you smell smells in water? I’m not convinced, taste maybe! But there again taste is reliant on smell, so does it really work? I personally think it’s all commercial hype

Hello John! Thanks for providing the Q&A's. Off the back of this I have made my first purchase from you, to have ago at making the bait you supply. I wanted to test the philosophy you provide with "fresh is best" along with your expertly prepared mixes and recipes. The test was a great success in freezing conditions and has provided me with huge confidence. I have ideas to test your bait in different configurations such as using just the base mix vs flavoured for example (I'm sure this is not new to you or any of your followers).... You have really inspired me to take the time to appreciate the importance of bait and it's preparation prior to fishing, something I have often overlooked in my years of angling due to following the crowds and not being "a little bit different". Thanks for the advice, Yours sincerely Karl

It was me that found out through research and by prolonged tests on the bank ( not arm chair theory) that single hook baits with attractors and flavours of high or low PH seemed to get a far quicker response than baits that were more aligned to the lakes back ground PH Im friends with John since 1983 and think a lot of the bloke but i was a bit taken back by his hostile response i would like a better explanation of his reasons for the dismissal Then i can show research results from scientific studies that back my findings conclusively.

So much understanding of bait 70 years young I'd like to think you can pass on your knowledge of what you have done with bait and time spent learning what's good an what's not . Bait is the biggest edge over anything else an so many people just don't get it ..and I'm so glad about that as another carp rolls into my net ..all the best John always enjoy your teaching as I find it knowledge is power

Is their any chance of you doing a talk on how to include your flavourings products into the match fishing side of baits,particles,pellets etc for different species and which ones you would use for those species? I think john we are missing out on your expertise,it all looks so exiting to me and also i have a johnson ross in the next town where i can purchase them or your website from! Hi John! I'm an experienced angler & bait maker/baron. The best results I've ever had was leaving the egg shells in i knew that they were on my bait hard they would be shitting my base out all over the lake. Whats your thoughts on the egg shells? Flood& Frost was an excellent bait.

Been using John’s bait for nearly 20yrs. Best I’ve ever found.

Another great video John , I've used your flavours for years and if ever I've needed just a snippet of advice or information you've always replied and tried to help. As daft/simple as it seems you're on point about all the dusting , glugging and extra's you are urged to try on top of a companies bait is either a huge selling point or admitting their baits aren't good enough to achieve the results they claim as a stand alone bait that's ready to go. I've sent you a couple of questions in the past about some of your flavours and essential oil blends that I use and have used in my base mixes ( which I sent you the ingredient details ) and not once have you told me to buy this buy that etc , subtle changes like dropping some of the spices in my mixes to allow your flavours to do their job was a game changer . If I can echo anything I've learned from your videos "fresh is best" , making bait during the week for a weekend session and keeping them in the fridge is so much better than grabbing a kilo out of the freezer or off the shelf , if in doubt stick them in a glass of water for 12 hrs and see / smell / taste the difference for yourself and compare them . The difference is chalk and cheese . Long winded I know but thanks for being / staying a good solid old school angler / bait maker John . Tight Lines . Steve M

Absolutely amazing video, very informative and I'm going to start using your flavours and additives for hookbaits/ pastes etc.. the peach 🍑 plum and bunspice will be main ones but have used the bio shellfish on its own...no flavours and that pulled the barbel from down stream on the ouse years ago.

A bait genius who is always willing to give good advice for free , and that's because he cares about fish welfare aswell and doesn't like big companies promoting stuff neither the angler or the carp/barbel need

What makes a homemade / DIY bait better ? For me: - I can make fresh boilies quicker than I can drive to my local tackle shop (which is 3-miles away) and buy a bag of off-the-shelf - No preservatives - The chances of anyone using the same bait as you is very slim - this gives you an edge immediately JB baits are the best IMHO and there’s nothing better than catching on your own bait. And please do bring back the pick n mix or at least some triple packs.
