It's wonderful to observe that our chicken coop has become a welcoming habitat for tortoises as well! Thank you so much for working with us! 💛
They're precious!! Can't wait for updates!
Excellent!!! 🎉
Beautiful babies 🐢🐢
Listen to Cota, sure she already told you too!
GO REST, DON'T WANT TO GET WORSE. OLD MOM HERE 🙏🙏
I can't tell 100% but it looks like it might be a water hyacinth you might also want to add some water spray also note is Indian water fern which will self replicate by spawning babies in the the spots between the fingers on the fronts so each thumb or finger between them will sprout a baby plan And it's self rejuvenating to rejuvenating is 100 percent edible by animal animals and plants I mean animals and turtles and chickens elite the stuff so it's good for them and usually they bring in a couple of pond snails or Rams horn snails which are fine the turtles will eat those too You might want to just put a couple of mosquito fish or guppies if you're in a tropical area or a warm area they will survive over the winter if not if you live in a temperate zone you got to bring them in in the winter time because they will die off we deserve the cold The only ones that might survive are Gambusia and they are native to the United States and Mexico can live in fresh or brackish water and can spend brief periods of time in high salinity saltwater or you could add Molly's mollies will survive in tropical waters and in temperate warm subtropical waters and saltwater and fresh. but then Gambusia probably the best fish for mosquito control and they're pretty little fish in their own way they're about the size of guppies both libraries both guppies and gamboos . are libraries they don't know if they can interbreed or not but they can go see a look like guppies they just don't have the thin coloration they have vertical stripes instead of horizontal stripes and they kind of bluish greenish scales on the sides with those black stripes they can have sometimes a silver or golden tinge to them so they're pretty fish the males are very pretty The females are very dull they're kind of like olive green drab color with the stripes but there be good to get but for a floating plant definitely get the water sprite and as the leaves age there's the plant age excuse me and their leaves grow more and more out of the water they've become more frog like like real delicate but they're thick they're very versatile leaves so they mean they can start out in the water and be very flat and broad leaf So they're trying to absorb as much sunlight and get as much carbon dioxide as possible and once they start growing out of the water they start thinning out and adapting to more terrestrial style photosynthesis and breathing they absorb more carbon dioxide through the aerial leaves than they do the aquatic ones But it's a nice little trade off between the plant and above all they're going to be sucking up nitrates like you didn't believe it's one of the best plants out there for 2nd up nitrates but they've got to be floating plants they can't plant them they have a lot of roots the roots the whole plaintiff is edible for Fish and turtles
This is great info, thank you so much. I have made a few modifications since uploading this video. I actually did end up getting some guppies and yes that it a water hyacinth I just couldn’t remember the name. The hyancinth is growing rapidly and another plant just grew from it. I’m in the search for snails too as I’d love to have them
What basking and heating did you use? Looking to get a pancake (or two...or three) in the fall
I’m using Arcadia brand heat bulbs, 75Watt and 100watt, and then T5 8% UVB
Hi! New viewer here. I clicked on your video to check out these enclosures but I love the way you explain things and include/admit to your own errors, which others might edit out. I like how these enclosures are made and I am thinking of getting one in the near future! Proud to be subscriber #681
Thank you ! The enclosures are definitely worth it. Just make sure to throughly follow the instructions they come with (something I didn’t do) and you’ll get it setup perfectly :) thanks for the sub !
now im the happy 682nd subscriber!!!!!11!!1111!11
Hope you feel better. WOW, nice unboxing. Good luck with these. (hope it's a male)
Enjoy!
Thank you !
Should probably delete this video. Go buy another dubia enclosure. Reread instructions 3 times. Remake video.
My favorite species to keep.
A bunch of hypocrites
it's only the listed products that are banned, arcadia is still completely fine I use them they are fantastic
because they are not accurate in their readings it's common sense that they aren't banning UVB and sun basking bulbs if anything they are saving ill informed people from using them so think of it as a favor the 10.0 doesn't even get up to .5% 6 inches from the top
Do research. Youre spreading false info
This isn’t entirely true, zoomed reps are meeting with officials to go over why these bulbs are necessary for animals survivals, it’s not just reptiles but other mammals need it as well. Europe went through this and succeeded and there’s no reason why the US won’t, they aren’t just going to let our animals die. Nice vivisection though, there is hope we’re gunna be fine 👍🏼
I believe the need for lights will lead to innovation in ways to continue to keep reps that need the lights. I hope anyways. Its not just private keepers that this hurts but zoos and rehab facilities that keep reptiles as well.
Hopefully. Sounds like the government overstepping thier bounds without understanding the situation.
This is kinda scary, I’m not sure what I would use instead of heating and UVB bulbs. My pets life’s depend on it. And I’m lucky to even get my turtles outside in the summer but once fall comes around it gets way to cold for my turtles. If that’s the case I guess we would all have to move down south or something just to give our pets some sun year around.
it's only the listed products that are banned arcadia is still completely fine I use them they are fantastic
Will fake plants with suction cups stick on the side walls of these pvc enclosures like they do on glass enclosures?
I’m not sure I have not attempted it, I’m sure they would
@@SotasExotics I have a lot of them in his current enclosure. Trying to see if it would work in a pvc enclosure before I buy one.
Wow!! This is scary 😱 and I’m not scared by much!!! Like you said, ppl are stocking up despite the fact that they are all one day going to burn 🔥 out, but what about the little guy like us who can’t afford to do that. Thank you for this important information❣️🫶🏻☀️ much love and blessed be.
Is this cage big enough for a single adult crested gecko or should I get the 24x18x36 enclosure?
If you’re getting a single gecko it’ll suffice perfect ! But I’m a fan of bigger is better
@@SotasExotics yeah. I have him in a 12x12x18 right now and I have his enclosure packed full. Buying more decor so his cage will be ready when I do buy it
The biggest problem with this reptile heat bulb ban is we have people who have littler kids who would be afraid of the dark as reptile owners. Plus the United States have the highest crime rates in the world especially kid napping
Heck, i’m a full grown woman, and half my head is full of silver hair not trying to age myself, but just saying. And I’m gonna become afraid of the dark if they take our reptile bulbs away!! Lol 😆 I guess let’s bring some lighter notes on this very scary issue❣️🫶🏻☀️ much love and blessed be friend
Why’s it look like you have on makeup wth 😂
Maybe cause I do, jk lol. For the thumbnail I change the saturation so it shows brighter.
@@SotasExotics nah u was correct at first when u said maybe I do lmaooo Man U don’t need no makeup for CZcams or anything else lmaooo. I would never put makeup on. My skin is so flawless and radiant n rich looking!!! Melanin goes a long way n lasts a long time lmaooo.
Nice enclosure
I have 2 of the 48x24 enclosures and I put those together without issues and I just bought my Crestie the 18x18x24 and this hurts watching you put it together, I agree watch a video on putting it together and or read the instructions step by step. These are very nice enclosures.
They are beautiful!
One day I can be like him, having lots and lots of space for land tortoise.. #Greetings from Indonesia
Nothing wrong with that buddy we're still discovering ourselves and figuring out what we enjoy keeping and the amount we want to keep, the amount of downsizing we've done to get ready to move has made a big difference to us I do want to upsize back a little once we get moved but I don't want to be back where we were by any means
There's nothing like a little time away to ground oneself. I encourage all keepers to create a written collection plan that they share with family and friends that will help guide future acquisitions and distributions. Nice job prioritizing.
I did the same thing. It was tough letting my amazing Bulls go the most, but things are easier now just focusing on Black Milks and Pines (I do still have a Corn as well). It’s less work and back to being fun again.
Interesting I’m allways on the look out for different flowers that are SAFE for torts ❤
A lot of pyramiding... Where is the humidity sensor?
Gauge wasn’t in the video, however it sits around 80%. 2 of these animals came worse. The Cherryhead and the yellow Redfoot were already juveniles when I received them as well and had a fair bit. It hasn’t increased much but there’s still a little bit there.
Such a small enclosure. Look at them try and escape as soon as you open it
Congrats, Sam!
Awesome stuff, Sam!
Thank you !
That looked like a blast, i know you was in paradise thats right up your alley
Its called cholla wood or cholla cactus. Gilla's are awesome. Pretty cool
Thank you! I couldn’t remember it for the life of me 😂
Really fabulous video! Thanks for taking us along on your adventure!
Thank you 😊
ive seen some good builds with cork panel and fern fiber panel. i think they look a lot more natural. they may be more expensive, but when you consider the time investment they are worth it for sure.
Absolutely agree
Great recap dude. 🤘🏻

I'm sad I missed it but looking forward to ttpg conference
I’ll see you there !!!
Read all directions first, I actually cannot believe you did a review video without following the instructions. It’s so simple. “A lot of it was my fault”-all of it was your fault.
You’re not wrong !!!! 😄
@@SotasExotics the reason I watched your video review was because I had just ordered a Reptile Habitats enclosure. Despite your video I was excited about it. I received it 2 days ago, assembled it completely, sealed the bottom 12” of the enclosure all under 25 minutes. The enclosure is much better than expected especially for the price. I recently bought and built my second Reptile Kages enclosure for twice the cost and it’s definitely not worth the money and wait as compared to the Dubia Reptile Enclosures.
@@nbruno121195 I agree. The cost, quality, and style is 10000% worth more than any other enclosure on the market. But there are humans like myself who can’t follow directions and get ahead of themselves. Although the specific directions for the cage I had could have been a little more precise in some areas.
@@SotasExotics I agree, directions could be better, could point out a few common mistakes. The one thing I wish I did during assembly was silicone the tracks that the panels slide into. I would still seal the inside but I think it would be a reasonable precaution as well as keep the panels a little quieter.
This hurt to watch. These are so easy to put together when you read the instructions. Second video I’ve seen on CZcams where the user is clueless and can’t build these simple enclosures.
These remind me of the Leap enclosures and I just was thinking they are knockoffs of Leap, but watching you video, they are different. The Leap cages have this folding origami substrate tray- if used for a chameleon, don’t think the bottom would leak? If so, that would probably rule them out for me. Thanks Sam!
Hard to say ! Definitely a great price and I’d say with a little silicone it could be leak resistant!
@@SotasExotics cool- thank you. The folding substrate tray on the Leap enclosures aren’t perfect- they leak around the top edges. And Tim, the guy who created the Leap enclosures, left the company. I think these types of setups have lots of potential, and I’m bummed that they just aren’t ready for prime time.
@@twoturtletom as you can read from my reply above, I just bought and built a Dubia Reptile Enclosures 2x2x2 for a crested gecko. Is it capable of being used as a paludarium-definitely not. Once sealed though it is more than capable of being used for a high humidity environment other than the fact that the top of the enclosure is metal mesh. I’m planning on adding a fan on top for air circulation and covering most of the mesh with acrylic to hold humidity.
@@nbruno121195 thank you. Paludarium, no, but chameleons require a quite a bit of misting through their system. You say “once sealed”. Do you mean sealing oneself with silicone?
@@twoturtletom yes, run a bead of silicone around the edges of the walls and floor and you’re good to go. I just dumped 24qts of soaked leca balls and a little bit of water into the bottom with no problem. I then loaded in my dampened substrate and misted it down…no problem at all. I’m fairly certain this enclosure would be fine for your chameleon. I’m planning on installing a misting system in this enclosure and have zero concerns.
