In this episode, we take a look at two bifacial solar panels from Aptos and Trina. These solar panels are in the range of 372 - 400 W. Both of these solar panels are bi-facial and per have a bifacial gain when mounted correctly due to the open backside. The Aptos panel can be had for about $104 per panel and the vertex solar panel can be had for roughly around $140. these panels have been in use for several projects but the ones we are checking out in this are brand new. These panels are a great balance between size performance and cost so these are my go to panels for projects where they can be used.

    Question: If I have a smart A/C plug, programmed to turn on from, say, 6pm to 6am.... Can I plug this inverter's A/C input into that smart plug to allow it to charge from A/C when that plug is on? I do mean - "without intervention." I want to charge the battery at certain off peak times, it seems easiest to do that with a smart plug.

    I have 3 655w Trina solar bifacial, swapped with 3 year old panels, they give the full watts when the sun is up, one of the best for sure, the best part is, I got those on a finished project but since their production was so great, they need it less ones, I got each one 110 bucks, I don't understand why the USA gets old stock of solar panels... Did you ever consider using the built in features of the Delta 2 to automize the power? You can set it up to when the batteries get to 20% then use wall power to charge it up to Ex:50%, this will continue until the solar charges the batteries back to over 50%. You will never need to manually switch the split ac from sources. You can also attach the Delta to your battery bank via solar to keep the system fully charged.

      @tgbatg Před 23 dny

      True, technically it’s the only thing connected. So I do use the energy management feature to do what you mentioned. QQQ - I can't find an answer anywhere, Including the Owner's Manual. I originally bought the new wall mount 14.3 kw battery and 6000XP for my RV, but found out I can NOT use the 6000XP as I have a 30 amp (one 120v leg) system. Would have been perfect IF I had a 50 amp RV (two 120v legs). Soooooo I have been looking for an inverter again. This looks good IF... it does 'load sharing'??? Meaning if a 30amp RV Park Pedestal has low power, or I use an adapter to plug into 15 amp household socket, will the 3000EHV-48 Supplement utility power with battery power to power loads AND/OR will it use available utility power to Charge the Batteries while using Batteries to power Loads OR (worse case scenario) will it just Ignore utility power completely and provide power from the Batteries only???

    • @tgbatg
      @tgbatg Před 23 dny

      1) the 3000ehv will not work in the manner you want. The modes supported bY the inverter will NOT supplement utility power with batteries. With the 3000ehv utility is all or none. 2) technically speaking you can use the 6000xp. Although not exactly recommended by the manufacturer. You can use each leg from the 6000xp to power the RV, since each leg is 120v.

Not sure if you're supposed to drop them in, torque them down, remove the nut, and then put the bracket on and tighten to 19ft/lb? I got no clue what I'm doing lol. I've never used expansion bolts like this before. Seems like you just put the bracket on, dropped the bolts in, and gave them a good spin with the impact. Any guidance on what to do here?

      the first one i tried that. meaning putting them in removing the nuts then putting the bracket on. Because of the size hole to expansion bolts, they kept falling back into the hole. So for the rest of the brackets, i put the bolts through the brackets then tightened up the nuts. I've used sleeve and wedge type anchors a good bit, so i was able to use an impact and get a good feel for the torque applied using setting/mode 1 on the impact.

      @@tgbatg Gotcha, any suggestions on how tight to crank to crank the bolts? To where it gets hard to turn the ratchet or just just lightly, etc?

    I was wondering how well communicating and non communicating banks would work together. What happens when one of the AO batteries depletes itself fully? Does the BMS just limit that batteries workload until its charged back up? Thats a great price to add a ton of capacity to a system. Thanks.

    Bus bars are using insulated standoffs not heat shrink tubing for isolation. Thanks for showing the cage in detail. And forget about the silly cross connecting of the bus bars. Charge and discharge current is controlled by the BMS. You have more resistive loss inside each individual battery than through a solid copper bus. Looks better when the wire is uniform. More important is to keep your Lifepower software updated. The latest update for me really helped with balancing out the state of charge for my whole bank.

    I'd put inverter other way around so standing up it vents nicely as designed and power strips are higher up...also breaker being down at the ground is going to get bumped, drug thru water etc...that should be up top. Pretty clean compact setup though. I like the MPP 3048 since they work better on smaller arrays that might fit the role of a portable system.

    Nice video. I am currently using LV6548 to power 110 but need 230v to run 2hp well pump. This looks like a good solution for $1400.

    Thanks for the show and tell… I also have the same solar panel mount and been looking around on how others were doing theirs… I came to the conclusion of using concrete and just possibly just copy your way

    Good job making it work with the constraints you have to deal with, I mounted my brighmounts to a 2" pipe using u bolts then mounted that on top of a 6" pipe 5' out of the ground so my arrays are fully adjustable in all directions. I was able to fit 4 485w bifacial q cells on each rack without using extensions. 2 arrays (8 panels) per string input to my 6000xp inverters is perfect 👌

      I like the pipe mounting for a base. I originally thought of using Iron Ridge ground mounts that use the pipe. I am unsure of what I will do. Also like Sinclair mounts with seasonal adjustments. All the best from North Texas.

    Very nice 👍 what is the brand adhesive you use on the rods? And did you use hydraulic cement?

    • @tgbatg
      @tgbatg Před měsícem

      It wasn’t hydraulic. I don’t see need for hydraulic cement in this application. The cement used was quikrete high strength cement 4000 psi. But the real thing you need to do is water cure it for at least the first 7 days. I water cured it for about 3 weeks and let it dry out for another
