How does the charging technology for e-cars work? | What The Tech?!
E-cars need electricity to charge. But how long does the charging process take for e-cars and how does a fast charging station work?
Alternating current charging columns are mainly found at private wallboxes and are connected to the low-voltage grid. These operate with outputs of approx. 3.7 to 22 kW, whereby the charging output of 11 kW has established itself as the unspoken standard.
Depending on the power and battery size of the e-cars, charging times vary between about 16 and two and a half hours.
If you're on the road with the e-car, of course, it has to be faster.
Direct current charging stations are fast-charging stations that operate with powers from 50 kW up to 350 kW. As a result, the average charging power of e-cars is also shorter. On the other hand, the public charging stations are connected to the medium- or high-voltage grid, for which new power lines have to be laid. This costs time and, above all, money.
When electricity is stored and used, heat is generated at all parts, which of course has to be dissipated efficiently. Usually, the interior of the fast charging station, the power electronics and the cooling circuits are cooled with air. Particularly powerful charging cables are cooled by pump-driven cooling circuits. Outdoor suitability is particularly important for this. Even under harsh environmental conditions, the reliable functioning of the fans and ventilators in the fast charging stations must be guaranteed. This is why they are tested in shock, vibration and corrosion tests, as well as in Highly Accelerated Life Tests, the Temperature Change Control Test and in tests for electromagnetic compatibility. In addition, all the fans and ventilators of the fast charging station have electrical overvoltage protection.

Fan Acoustics: How do we perceive sound? | What The Tech?!
zhlédnutí 2KPřed rokem
Fan acoustics are linked to our perception of noise. But how do we perceive fan acoustics and which factors influence them? How we perceive noise depends on several factors. Noise perception is subjective and not easy to measure. Psychoacoustics is based on experiments into this phenomenon. For example, the fan of a heat pump conveys outside air from the house side to the inside of the heat pum...
Why are air handling units (AHUs) important for a healthy indoor climate? | What The Tech?!

Air Handling Units are crucial for Indoor climates. And the Indoor climates are determining whether people feel good. Each person breathes about 15,000 liters of air every day. So it’s extremely important to ensure that air is properly heated, cooled, humidified and dehumidified. Air handling units, or AHUs for short, make all of this possible. There are any number of different AHUs. They vary ...
How to retrofit a fan for energy-efficiency | What The Tech?!
zhlédnutí 5KPřed rokem
In order for a part to function as a whole, parts that are damaged must be replaced. A retrofit, i.e. a fan replacement in ventilation systems is therefore necessary. A fan replacement protects against damage to the entire system and increases the service life of the system. This saves a lot of energy. To ensure that everything goes well with the retrofit, basic things should be observed. For o...
Ventilation systems for air exchange according to demand | What The Tech?!

Air exchange is absolutely necessary with insulating windows in order to regulate air humidity. This is possible with ventilation systems. Air exchange is especially important in renovated houses and new buildings, as they are almost airtight. As a result, they hardly lose expensive heat energy, which is good for the environment, but there is also hardly any air exchange. Mold can be the result...
Basic components and construction of an electric ventilation system | What The Tech?!

For a flow machine to be able to generate air flow, a fan needs a number of important components. No matter whether an axial, centrifugal, diagonal, or tangential impeller is used, the fan is driven by an electric motor. Depending on the requirements and application, either an AC, EC, or DC motor is used - mainly as an external rotor motor. This is because the impeller can be mounted directly o...

So the difference is that in a brushless motor, the stator is rotating. But doesnt that rotor in the brushless has friction with other stationary objects that would need maintenance ?

    • @jackbuff_I

Yes, but it's the lack of temperature, which increases friction, therfore causing more damage.

These motors are very good up until the time the ECM module fails. AKA the electronics board/module which is built into but sepperate from the motor. I have seen too many of these ECM motors fail due to the electronics vs. the motor itself which requires a replacement EC board or the entire motor assembly which is extremely expensive which tends to take away any "savings" over the long term vs. a PSC motor. Also, in either case, none of the motors today are worth spit unless they are built with quality parts and real ball bearings which are why PSC motor tend to fail as the cheap ones use bushings vs. bearings. In most motors of today, the bearings/bushings fail first while older motors were built to last and they did. I believe these EC motors convert AC to DC current as well which is how they get them to be ultra quiet and efficient since DC sine waves are flat vs. alternating eliminating the vibrations.
