Personally, I am blown away by, pun intended, the performance of the 5.56. I did not expect that at all!
A real study in fluid/hydraulic physics. Certainly more informative than I would have imagined.
wow
5.56 is a destructive round speed kills
Did not expect those results at all . Good video I enjoyed it .
556 is very Nasty, Wow
Could you do the same type of test using 55 and 62 gr 5.56? Excuse me if you already have.
See Lucky Gunner for video using 32 ammo. Fiocci 73 g was clearly the best.
Great tests. Thanks for the hard work!
Dude spend the $ and mcarbo that thing and it runs like a top
Which one do you use?
77 grain loaded up right, in the right weapon and the right hands is wow
Clearly, the 5.56 dumps ALL of its energy in the jug, where the larger rounds do not.
If u where in Nam u would of seen it in color...😮
The choice is clear for the impending Invasion Of The Water Jugs❗️
All the info I need if invaded by 5 gallon water jugs.
Definitely switching to 5.56 for my next water bottle safari.
Self defense vs Humans , perhaps not. BUT Humans aren't the only hostile on the planet. These make decent self defence loads vs Rattlers. So it depends on your target.
Use a barnes x- bullet in 20 caliber in the 204 ruger.

The little fella does the job and you can carry 30% more rounds. Makes sense to me.
22 can go right to a 55-gallon steel drum like it's nothing so never hide behind one of those
Thank you sir!
Exactly what I expected. I've owned a mini-14 for decades and I have seen some impressive performance from this little cartridge.
Now try it out to 1000 yard's 🤔
Hydrostatic Shock only comes from High Velocity rounds. .177 HMR , .22 Win mag,5.7x28mm all come to mind
I have a couple of 50-round boxes of that particular 5.56. Nice to know what those can do with hydrostatic shock!
223/556 and 224 Val for me
Nicely done. Good representation on hydrostatic shock. That energy dump from the 147 and especially the 77 @300yd is definitely impressive. Highly doubt all these folks running around with *truck guns* 10.5 and shorter will ever see results remotely close to the 18in used in this test. It's still extremely impressive. Thank you
Well done, sir.
try using hunting rounds
The 556 shocked me. Wow!!!
The 556 said HP. That's a hollow point. So if the other two were ball i see why the 556 acted that way.
Results.....Speed Kills
Not really surprised at all. The 5.56 round was made to do that kind of damage. 7.62 is a better hunting round because of the extra weight but you can't touch the velocity of the 5.56. With the muzzle velocity that it produces, it makes the round tumble once it hits the target. Just FYI.
77 gr OTM has seen a lot of use in Afghanistan etc
22 hornet back when they built 22 magnums right the first time.
Interesting. The 168 grain 308 could lift a 47 lb jug off the ground and still go straight through it. Then the 556 NATO destroyed the same water 47 lb jug. So my last deer hunt in Nevada was 3 of us, spotted deer across a valley draw uphill shot. I shot my 168 grain 308 deer fell dead about 5yds. My friend hit his deer with 7mm dead about 5 yards. Our 3 friend had a range finder. 826 yard shots. Guess what l am getting at is, what ever you like 223,556,247,308,30:30,30’6, if you hit what your aiming at its going down dead.
Fantastic demo. Thank you
Use the Hornady 150 grain 3,000 ft per second 308 and we'll see a difference.
Holy crap! I’m sold on 5.56 round. Thank you for proving how effective this round truly is. No 308 round is necessary for me.
At 400 yrds.
The 556 really surprised me. Is it possible that there was no exit channel? Just the bullet streaking around inside releasing it's energy? I'm not sure. Baffled by the 556.
Ok. Now I know what each of those bullets are capable of. The 5.56 bullet likely went to pieces, which is why it dissipated ALL of its energy to the jug and its water. Impressive. BUT.... I've seen it before...so I'm not too surprised. But for my "money".... I'll stick with the 308's 147 gr. FMJ, even though it held together better than the .22 caliber hollow point. The 147 gr. 30 caliber showed very good hydrostatic shock, without expending all its energy to the jug...like the .223's bullet did. Still, all three did their job. They killed or at least...severely wounded the water jug! So now I feel a lot more thirsty than I did 20 minutes ago! I think I'll go get a beer from the fridge! Good job with this video and demo!
Wow 556 is very impressive, great job on filming and editing!
A great comparison with the same principals for each calibre, well done!
556 is doing exactly what it was designed to do, incredible internal damage
That was great! Well done! Awesome job of showing the effects of different grains of bullets on the clay. Really shows the power of the 22-.250 from 200 yards.
Thank you for your excellent videos and testing these smaller caliber rounds.
Thanks for testing these smaller calibers. Subscribed.
