Jimmy Jam said Prince could play your instrument better than you, so he could literally show you what he wanted you to play and how. Except if you were a horn player. That's still fascinating. I heard he once played drums when jamming with Stevie Wonder. Hope it was recorded.
Wish there were other artists that put out as much quality music as this guy but there's not. He was the most significant, accomplished, gifted and prolific musician in the industry. He was known for releasing garbage from time to time too, though. He needed a little quality control towards the end of his career which, essentially was the end of his life because he never retired.
Did he say Grace's name? I thought she was gone. Replaced by Lisa!! Let's see if he speaks to her again. I didn't realize he made this song when he was still with the Revolution. I thought it was later. Makes it more interesting.
Wanted to hear the baseline in more of this. That's what makes it sound cool. The timing of it and the vocals, actually. This is the sound D'Angelo expanded on in Voodoo, his second album. The timing of the sax and keyboard is also cool. Needed more lyrics though!!
