Many years ago (1976) I created a plastic-enclosed environment to transfer spore and had a can of disinfectant and a burning candle inside to sterilize my transfer tool. When I sprayed the disinfectant to sterilize the air the enclosure exploded in my face, scorching my eyebrows and completely melting the enclosure. Fun times.

Just FYI: considering how small the spores are, and the fact you're not injecting into a bloodstream where the introduction bubbles could cause an embolism, no need to waste the few millions spores with a "quick squirt." We legit only do that so folks don't get bubbles in their brain; no need to waste yours!

Do I only inject it one time?

I bought a different brand spawn bag with instruction to inject the entire spore syringe. The bag is colonizing rapidly but theres what appears to be brown "water" settled at the bottom of the bag. Mycelium is still growing at the bottom with it.. could this be contamination ?

Great videos! My question is; is contamination dangerous? I will often have a flush but there is also some green contamination as well as some white fuzz contamination. I’ve eaten some of these shrooms anyway and felt no ill effects. Thoughts?

Hi Ashley, what about little fruit flies or fungus gnats. I just noticed a couple in my monotub this morning when I was fanning. Can I still continue to grow or should I throw it out? Can it be controlled? I have some rather large fruiting happening in this tub and its my first time starting to see a good flush. Ill be devastated if I have to throw this one out. :(

I was wondering why everything needs to be super sterile when growing mushrooms? I think it's really weird considering they grow in nature under a pile of poop 💩 lol. Is it because it's starting out in moist enclosed containers?

Quick question.. so i mixed my mycelium with my substrate amd its been sitting about 2 days now.. i dont see anything happening on the top layer yet.. but in your video, the mycelium was already starting to grow out the top layer after one day.. does it sometimes take longer?

Me watching you stir the mold up with your hands: 😱🤯😳 😂 I don't like to assume that this happened with attempted subsequent flushes, so I ask, was this an attempt for a second, third or fourth flush? I've had contam issues with a greater percentage of my tubs when attempting a second flush and I hear some people getting as many as 5 flushes from one tub. I just don't see how. Do you have any videos on rehydration and subsequent flushes? Thanks for your videos

I have a lot of questions about this actually. I haven’t done it before. I’d like to know about the benefit of doing it this way versus just getting a sports orange because it seems like a lot of expense and cost to do it this way and as far as how long it takes, I don’t think you’re saving any time in the long run. Also, how do you store that life culture and how long does it keep? But of course, I love your videos. They are my favorites and I always watch yours when I need to learn something new.

So, you don't actually have to air dry the grains before bagging it up? That's awesome. I knew there had to be a better way. Now I can't stop sneaking all my wife's cookie sheets down to the basement and spreading grain all over the place.

When you let them spore like that and turn dark are the still usable (edible, potency, etc)

Using clear tape to cover the holes is the worst idea I’ve ever heard that actually ruined my first grow because I thought one of the clear holes on the clear mono tub with a clear tape. I couldn’t tell there was no tape there.

Did you use hot water into the buckets or no?
