Hi Megazoid if I send you something could you possibly design a case for it? Its a calculator of sorts, similar to these
LOL, you've got 666 subscribers! 😆😆😆
Uh ho! 😯😲
Hi, Portable Activator The link to the file does not work. Where can I find this file?
I can't post URL's in comments, but it's in MrBlinky's GitHub page > Arduboy-FX-mod-chip. The link in the "Arduboy DIY with FX" Hackster IO project works just fine BTW.
@@megazoid Thanks you!
Hi, What kind of PNP transistor is needed?
You need to look at the BOM list on the oshwlab project page.
Hi, Is the firmware instruction suitable for the second board?
The second board? ArduBroFX-ProMicro-Regular? if it's that one, the "Burn bootloader" instructions are the same as Mr.Blinky's DIY Arduboy GT project (link on my oshwlab page). Both projects I listed have good instructions on burning an ArduboyFX bootloader. The Teensy and ProMicro-Regular : * From the tools menu select Board > Arduboy versions > Arduboy * From the tools menu select bootloader > Cathy3K (starts with menu) * From the Tools menu select your programmer (Arduino as ISP when using an Arduino) Burn bootloader ProMicro-Alternate-Wiring Very different Arduino IDE settings. Refer to the settings shown on the "Arduboy DIY with FX" hackster project (link on my oshwlab page).
Hi, I really liked your project! Where can I find the gerber file?
I thought people would probably create a Gerber using the Fabrication tool in EasyEDA (Fabrication menu > PCB Fabrication File(gerber) ). However, I've now added the ready made Gerber's to the OSHW Labs project page (link in description) at the bottom as attachments. Pick the one you want. The boards are regular thickness (1.6mm). All tested and working, but build this project at your own risk 😉
@@megazoidThank you very much!
@@megazoid Hello, which board is better to choose?
I made an Arduboy clone, but I don't know how to play the games. I use the Arduino IDE and I was only able to pass the breakout
You might want to do a little more research. There are projects and circuits out there. You can't use a Nano, and you need a ProMicro and a flash chip if you want all the available games. Good luck!
How do I pass the games? I've done it every other way and it doesn't work, I use an Arduino Nano
As far as I know it doesn't work on a Nano. You need a ProMicro (ATmega32U4).
How did you include that boot up screen ?
In the description of my video - "SIMPSONS TV - Software Install Walk-through" there are some files relating to the splash screen
This is really awesome
I also ordered one of these. Hope it will be enough for SMD breakout boards. Just do not want to mess around with an iron and ATTiny10 or anything in that area. Edit: I payed 24€ with shipping on Ali. Pretty cheap in my eyes. 😅 Hope the quality is not that bad. I am a bit worried about the soldering quality hehe
I think it should be fine for most small scale SMD work. Sorry for not highlighting the internal soldering with some pictures. I'll add some to my channel's community tab. Thanks for your comment.
@@megazoid thanks for the answer. :-) And merci for the pictures.
Brilliant! Thanks for all the work you put in to publish your designs. I think the screen on the right is the best...
No thanks needed Lee. I was thinking of sending the one on the right to the States 😉 Just waiting for stick-on pads. 😄
Didn't I just see this Video Yesterday ??
Yes, sorry. I upped the brightness on it. Unfortunately CZcams wont let you replace a video, so I had to publish it again. 😐
@@megazoid Got it....
Is there anyway of buy this or something similar you have?
I don't generally sell my stuff sorry. You would be better off getting a Tiny TV 2 (made by TinyCircuits). They sell on Amazon, Etsy, as well as their own website.
Great Job! Amaizong project
Thanks 😊
Make it usbc
I probably will make a final one with USB C charging.
Why would you be using such awkward kind of 32u4 board? I've never head of it before. Chinese pro micro are much much more common and cheaper, come with micro usb or even type-c.
The Teensy 2.0 doesn't need any additional components to be Arduboy FX compatible (apart from a flash chip). A pro micro would need a transistor and a couple of resistors (or breakout wires from the 32u4 chip) to be Arduboy compatible. Unless you go for "alternate wiring", which means the games need to be compiled for alternate wiring.
I love the soyboy silkscreen symbol. Good job.
Cheers
Thanks for the project updates! Good show getting the last available screen 😮😊
They said they had 12 in stock, but it was probably a box of broken glass and dust when they checked it 😆. Still, they appear to have sent me an viable screen. Technically it's not the same screen, but the data sheets were identical.
0:00 A legend was born
Is this my oldest video? Haha 😆
Great job! Very clean design (both the PCB and case.) I agree with you about the cost. It's mostly about the journey, and the pride of designing it yourself. P.S. Love the graphic on your new board. The face and pointing character made me LOL
Thanks Lee 😀 It's fun messing around with these Arduboy's, and a little more productive than playing video games. The faces on the board are part of a 2020 meme - Two Soyjaks Pointing. Silly stuff on PCB's is a must 😆
You could add a p type mosfet between BAT and VIN that would disable BAT if VIN is high. This would allow you to remove the physical switch and both power / program directly from the Arduino USB port.
There probably (almost certainly) is an electronic way of doing it. My switch just moves USB positive from from the TP4056 (Lipo charger) to VBUS on the Pro Micro (or whatever ATMega32u4). D+ and D- are permanently connected to the secondary USB port. I want the Pro Micro off while I'm charging. I'm a rookie, but I can't totally see a mosfet working. There might be a way to incorporate the "fully charged" signal into then allowing programming mode, but that's kind of a lame idea. You could be right with your P type mosfet and I'm just not getting it. 😆
@@megazoid it's bit compllecated for very little return? but the problem on while its charging, have it display some sort charge state, like almost everything screen does, the flash picture battery in segments,
@@dh2032 That would involve redesign of the bootloader code - waaaay beyond me😆 Nice idea though. I should probably just run the whole thing by Mr Blinky over on the Arduboy forum.
Thanks for the video, I think I'll crack a few out.
Cool.. go for it 😄 I found an aerial length of 95cm worked best for me. You will need something to program the ATtiny402. I used a Arduino Nano v3.0.
This was really cool! very impressive
Nice job! 👍
Been wanting a good arduboy fx for a long time
Imagine it as a mini-Pipboy though. 3d print a little wrist casing and capitalize on all that Fallout hype.
You are making me second guess my plan... What a brilliant suggestion
Looking forward to part 2! May the PCB design Gods look upon you favorably. Great video, and I enjoyed learning about the Arduboy history.
I'm hoping at least one works heh. 😆
hi, thanks for the video, can you help me with one thing? for some reason my project starts working excelent but after a couple of minutes it strats showing glitches, i already change the cables for thiker ones and all are soldiered. it is like when the components heats starts the problems Did you have any similar problem? thanks
That's a strange one. I never had that exactly. I get glitches when the battery drops below a certain level. It's the only way I know it needs recharging. The other time I've had a slightly delayed glitch was when using a really cheap (fake Lenovo) $2 microSD card from Aliexpress (some of their cheap cards are ok). If you are building the mini TV in the video, it's actually a real b***h to get it working flawlessly :D ---Good luck!
I love your version, so cool! Any hints on how you got the image to display between clips (Ad-O-Matic TV Test Pattern), mine just shows linux text between clips, and I'd love to show a pic between videos like you're doing here.
Luckily I documented all that a couple of years ago (I wouldn't have a clue now lol). It's all in a previous video : czcams.com/video/VhpaOSOvg6Q/video.html There is a download link in the description which has the splash screen files and some instructions in a zip file. It might also be mentioned somewhere in the very dull 50 minute video?

Good points! These things are so technical, one must pay attention to detail, and even then dumb luck plays a factor. 🤓 I hesitate to put my designs out there because of the maintenance tail. People always tell me I should make and sell my stuff...but no. It's definitely a hobby for me too. That was very kind of you to make a special vape battery version for that person, but they could have at least thanked you. 🤨 We need to open a spare parts bazaar, for all the extra bits we have to order but never use! haha Have fun in Valheim!
With a high enough profit margin I might be tempted to sell. One-off's that border on "art" is something I've been meaning to try for ages. A reasonable price might be warranted for something unique. You can't beat the Chinese at the low end. Boxes of bits that "might come in handy" are the scourge of this hobby for sure 😁
Hello, I finished soldering the board and had programmed the esp32 before hand. But after soldering the board, it now doesn’t want to power up. I verified no bridges on the solder connections. And verified that power was being fed. Any help would be appreciated.
replacing the thermal paste is a great idea I am even thinking of doing the same if i get one.
Thank you for the remix and the entire instruction. I have recreated the project, but when I turn it on, I get the error message: File system mount Failed! I have reflashed the ESP32 and recreated the SD card without success. Where could my error be?
Most likely you don't have your movie files in the right directory structure. It is case sensitive. Videos/1/ or Videos/2/ ..etc (capital V). Or you don't even have any movie files on the SD card. Or more unlikely you have a soldering issue, or a problem with the micro SD card. File system mount Failed! just means it can't read the video & sound files it's expecting.
Did you ever find out the issue with that error? Mine is having the same problem.
which microcontroller is this?
guilty!!!!! good work !!!

I posted the Amazon link for it on Thingiverse.
