Pool players miss. Balls luck into pocket anyway. Funny.

Balls go to designated pocket accidentally. Fun to watch. Fortunately for the players here (and all of us), under almost all Call Pocket Rules (even in major tournaments for all pool disciplines) it is rarely necessary to specify *details* such as the number of banks, kisses, caroms, rails, etc.

Great, CLASSIC PROFESSIONAL POOL when Earl and Mike were near their peak abilities, and about half their present ages (57 & 65). Expert commentary by very personable Steve MIZERAK. Plenty of sarcasm to spectators, and frustrated eyeball rolling all around (and whining by both players). EFREN REYES is phenomenal in this race-to-11 match. Hard to believe that he's just received news from the Philippines that his father has died. He immediately flew back home after this match ended. At 34:39 REYES gets "camera-bit" and badly misses when shooting at the 2-ball (as any shooter would when the director's cameraman moves right into your line of sight to get a view of the ball coming ...
John Schmidt kick-carom shot!! Slo-mo's amazing

This is an amazing John Schmidt shot few players would've seen (or dared). My excerpted clip is at normal speed, followed by 4 slo-mo’s so you can examine the physics of it. Congratulation..❤❤❤ the LEGEND...EFREN REYES 👏💐❤️
We are watching for Efren idol
Well then you came to the right place my friend :-)
Love ❤️ watching Efren Reyes😊
The "High risk, High reward" statement is not even enough in this shot! What a legend.
Not only a GOAT also a KING
Merlin: You'll like know - or perhaps not - that the name Reyes is the pluralized form of the Spanish word "Rey" meaning King.
Efren is the real GOAT
You are the goat not idol efren
That was a heads-up call by the ref on that foul. He knew what to look for by knowing exactly what direction the 15 would be deflected if the cue ball struck it first. Otherwise it would have been too close to call. That's the kind of shot that could result in a fight or worse, depending on where you are and who you're playing against.
Kudos for a very astute analysis of what the layout demanded for any seasoned ref. He knew exactly what to look for. You definitely know your pool, Onemore. They hired one of the best for this matchup, which should be the case when this level of prize monies are at stake.
How is that even possible? Efren is a legend. ❤He's amazziiing.
It wasn't possible, Poppy, but being Efren -- he did it anyway !!! :-)
When it comes to big jackpots of money, is where Efren thrives the most smh
A very accurate observation, Tyler. Thx for posting that wisdom. ~ Ray C.
The best efren reyes legend
EARL STRICKLAND !!! TRUE LEGEND !!!
Back when pool was interesting.
hands down for earl who sealed the frame on that legendary shot. he made sure not to ruin that legendary moment.. imagine if he didn't concede and efren missed the 9 ball? ... the shot who'd have been a forgotten piece of history ...
Good point despite widely getting endless crap for his personality I love the dude, and he was fun and classy here.
Its gonna be end ther, he made the Z shot that is so impossible how about that simple easy shot
Great commentators, Very knowledgeable. Not to much, not to little, Thanks.
There's something quite electrifying about being present at unique moments in sports. I always enjoyed the announcer's reaction. He goes from, " What is he DOING? " to " Oh, Noo! "
I watch every time Efren is playing!🙏
That Z-shot was a Reyes vs Reyes affair.
How much was the check?
Kim, second place = $7,500 Efren, winner . . . . = $15,000
I Still watch this video once a month or so love efren humble as it gets
That's quite understandable, Aby. The extent of Efren's genius abilities coupled with sincere humility are mesmerizing, alluringly watchable, and rare in the 174-year history of professional pool. Thx for your feedback. ~ Ray C.
Never seen a stare off in billiard before
Jefry: Here's what was really going on there *_I was at the event_* The face-off ("stare down") was of course scripted beforehand -- ordered by the producer, and intended for drama-building effect and the players rehearsed with the production team. Happens with many mano-a-mano sports events (boxing, cage fighting, -- even some televised tennis and chess matches). Photo op, tension-building publicity stuff. It would be far beyond Reyes' everyday humility to ever look belligerently and threateningly at his opponent like that, without being coaxed to do so for essentially silly, theatrical TV purposes. They were both laughing loudly and enjoyably during the rehearsal for that mutual stare down*. They finally managed to suppress the awkward grinning and convinced the production crew that they'd deliver when the on-camera moment came. *Efren knew very well that the mutual stares were a pretense. Folks may disagree with the producer's silly choice, but ultimately it was his "dime" so he did what he did. Hope this helped you

Mheeeeeeeee watching this year 2024….👏👏🇵🇭❤️🙏

2024 still watching?lol
It has become a "classic" so -- unsurprisingly -- by definition . . . fans in many generations will continually enjoy and be entertained by it as they would with any *_classic performance_* in art, music, sports, acting, or literature, whether still-photographed, filmed or videotaped. Classic cars would be another example where the best-of-the-best endure thru the decades. ~ Ray C.
Great game!!
does efren ever revealed what earl actually told him before raising his hand? i guess if he could do it ir something, just curious.
I've heard that what he said to Efren is exactly what he said to a _Billiards Digest_ magazine reporter an hour later during an interview. Earl's comment was: *_That amazing shot will become part of pool's history!_*
👍 N I C E ❤️👏
Really nice to see earl gracious in defeat and of course I can't say enough good things about bustamante an absolute stone cold killer on the table yet similar to efren very humble never cries complains or a single negative thing to say win or lose
A perfect comment, David. Thx for posting ~ Ray C.
Jitters? No such thing
what a fun look into the past of the game of 9 ball....very interesting rules they played with....many of my pool buddies dont think these guys could compete in todays game.....give both of these guys todays equipment and a little time to adjust and i think theyd be just fine.....both well deserving hall of famers
There is a controversy about Efren Reyes that some of what he played which is he he won the game as it said that he didn't get the full amount of his reward and the other half was on installment. Is it true ?
That controversy and partially correct rumors related specifically to a 2006 major Las Vegas tournament *_wherein Efren (winner) and the Second-place player received their full prizes via installments_* Here are the objective & verifiable facts: Immediately after that tournament ended, the once-wealthy promoter discussed with Efren and Rodney the fact that he was faced with serious financial difficulties (and legal problems) relating to his nutritional supplements company. Both players willingly agreed to installment payments of their prize monies. They were fully paid over a 14-month period of 9 installments in chunks of 11%. *_Neither of them had negative things to say about the organizers_* Read about it here : www.billiardsdigest.com/new_current_issue/dec_16/bb_index.php The accurate, provable facts regarding the actual payments are FULLY discussed in that article. Hope that article helps anyone who might be interested. All life-long fans of our beloved *cue sports like pool and snooker* are pleased to learn that such payment controversies are extremely rare nowadays in major, better-controlled worldwide tournaments.
Idk about Efren but Earl did.A huge bonus for running 10 racks in a row for maybe a mill but he did it and they never paid him
The match would be so much better without the analysts chiming in constantly.
It's what the producer wanted. Agree with his plan or not, he was targeting a (hopefully) massive home TV audience who he theorized as having scant knowledge about the sport's strategic nuances. His dime, his call -- as they say. That's also why he wanted the opponents to be mic-ed up.
@@raycarltonbilliards5798 massive where? Not in the USA.
Whoever chose those particular billiard balls was not thinking straight.
That's been expressed in various ways over the intervening 22 years. Ball color and numerical style changes often generate controversy when they depart too far from what's typical. Sometimes televise-ability is understandably on the tournament promoter's/producer's mind and last-minute misjudgments or swap-outs made. Happens with plenty of tournaments. Ardent fans however, deeply appreciate anything that *does* get televised.
