They need to make a movie about this guy. No attitude, always smiling. You just can't help but like the guy. Efren Reyes: The Magician
He has one
Best ever
The title of Efren's movie is Pakners (slang for partners). Efren co-lead in the movie alongside with the late Fernando "Da King" Poe Jr. (The king of Philippine movies). But the movie is not about the life of Efren.
@@LoneWolf-oi4yx is
Genius he is.
I think wat makes him greater is that he is so humble and just no arrogancy, which is very difficult for people at top of any field to have that quality
The very first time I've got the chance to watch his games and I am really, really impressed by his amazing techniques of playing. Now I know the reason why my father and my brother are both fond of watching him. He is so humble even his famous. I've always heard his name from my father and I don't understand why maybe because I was still too young to understand the game. His brilliant with this sport.
God gives grace to the humble and resists the proud! There are so many instances of this in Holy Scripture and this is a contemporary one, but still just as valid!
Yes Agree much efrenBata is a Legend and so humble man that you can see him Playing billyard with the Young generation even do He is a SuperStar it easy to Approach when you see him along the street or any Place He had no Pride for him self it’s like an ordinary man very Humble Legend Like Manny Pacquiao both of them Humble and very Loving Person
EFREN REYES, WON A NERVE RACKING 8 BALL GAME VS. MORRIS. EFREN IS SO RELAXED, HE DIDN'T LOSE HIS CONFIDENCE . HE IS THE GREATEST POOL PLAYER TO EVER PLAY. 3 TOURNAMENTS WON $765,000. NOW HE CAN HELP PEOPLE IN NEED.!!!!
He is the Best.!!!!

Goď bless sir Efren ..proud to be Filipino..
Mas humble pa sya kay pakyaw at higit sa lahat hind nya pinasok ang politika....

Efren Reyes, or the magician, did not gain his exquisite and unique proficiency from nothing. He started playing pool since he was 8 y/o and now he's 65 y/o (dated today) which means he has been playing pool for 57 years (born August 26, 1954).
Efren has mastered the entire pool table angles, strikes force, unimaginable control and precision on the cue ball, and a very high self-confidence with absolutely no vanity (He's very humble and friendly by the way).
Two more things about Efren Reyes, he has never underestimated any opponent, and he has never neglected the calculation of any hit no matter how easy the ball is.
God bless Efren Bata Reyes.
0
you mean 5 years old
He started playing as early as 5 years old. We've heard that story. And if you watched enough games, you would see he HAS made mistakes. Like against Tony 'The Sniper' Crosby [2006?] he made multiple 'miscalculations ' on relatively easy shots.
Despite his success he stays very humble, and has played at the highest level since 1985, an incredible period of time to be "in his prime". He is the greatest.

im a Potugees and a fan of Efren Bata Reyes for me he is the Greatest Pool Player of all Time....

Fedor is also super humble
One of the most enjoyable pool shooters in history. The one thing that sets him apart from most is his understanding of risk vs reward. That left handed shot to push the 6 ball past the stripe is a classic example of that. He knew it was risky but he also understood that had he made it he would have had an easy run out. Been watching him do this for many years and his success shows how profitable that mindset can be.
Efren has it ALL.Charisma and a AURA around him. Very different than other players.

his smile worth more than that trophy money.
*Efren's smile enriches the world. I've known him for more than 30 years, and he is close to perfection as a human being, and as a pool playing genius. He's a wonderful example of total decency, humility, and pure kindness for young and older admirers worldwide* .

Efren reyes never lose in big money. Reyes the best ever pool player
Yes Efren did lose a big money game to Buddy (The Who?) Hall! In 1985 - Efren (aka Ceasar Morales) matched up with Buddy - Even - for 10K, 10 ahead 10 ball (1 foul, push out rules). It was at Red's 9 ball open pool tournament in Houston, Texas. Buddy initially wanted to play 9-ball but Efren opted for 10 ball. Buddy agreed, and won the 10 ahead set. Efren and, or his backers quit but said they wanted to play the next day. Btw, after that match both split the gate money made from the sweaters, that paid to see the match in the tournament room. Also, Buddy was there to play the next day only to find that Efren and party left town. Earlier Efren won the 9 ball tournament defeating Wade Crade (aka Billy Johnson) in the finals. After winning the tournament he matched up with other great players like Keith McCready, St. Louis, Louis, Roberts, and Mike Sigel defeating all comers, with the only exception being Buddy Hall. For Efren to do what he did, the very first time he set foot on American soil, is a testament to his great talent.
+Bonhzeppelin So in 32 years he hasn't lost a "Big Money" event? That's still quite impressive.
+planetX15 I was specifically responding to Jose's comment that Efren NEVER lost a big money match, and simply pointed out he was incorrect. BTW, $10,000 in 1985 today would be just over double that amount. Also, Reyes conceded he was no longer the Money King in the Philippines, and handed over the MK title to Dennis Orcollo. Efren humbly said he couldn't beat Dennis for money, but could beat him in tournament play. So Efren has lost at least twice in the past 32 yrs. ;-)
Yes he never loss big money
He lost the award of 65000 against steve davis
I saw Efren just about a week ago in Angeles. he's just having a hitch hike into some of his friend's ride and he's just slippers and an old shirt and a pants with all of his winnings I admire him because he's just a simple man
Best pool player I’ve ever seen and I’m old….

Whose a Billiard player stuck in quarantine watching Efren the great?

Cord: "billiard player" is a perfectly acceptable phrase. I'll explain: -- When *speaking in-person* to someone who is English-fluent, "pool player" works fine, but *be tolerant, neighborly, and considerate* of the fact that the word "billiard" in all of it's various national language spellings is much easier to understand (and translate) in almost all of the world's *written* languages. The English word "pool" -- sometimes confusedly -- has a dozen different meanings; "billiard(s)" always describes one of the *cue sports* . And yes, I'm totally aware of the fact that pocket billiards (pool) differs markedly from any of the pocket-less carom billiards disciplines. You'll agree i'm sure, that the world needs *tolerance* and international friendliness more than ever.
Meeeeeee..... and boxing...
Grow up
The way Rodney looked at Efren at the opening ceremony with the arbiter, I can see that Rodney has more future in Boxing or WWE with his killer looks 😂🤣
Hope you'll appreciate more info about what was really going on there folks. Here's the exact reason *(I was there)* : The face off ("stare down") was of course scripted beforehand -- set up and rehearsed with the production team for dramatic effect. Happens with many mano a mano sports events (boxing, cage fighting, -- even some televised tennis and chess matches). Photo op, tension-building publicity stuff. It would be far beyond Reyes' everyday humility to ever look hatefully and challengingly at his opponent like that, without being coaxed to do so for essentially silly, theatrical TV purposes. They were both laughing during the rehearsal for that mutual "stare down." They finally managed to suppress the awkward grinning and convinced the production crew that they'd deliver when the on-camera moment came. Efren knew full well that the mutual stares were a pretense.
@@raycarltonbilliards5798 I had no idea this happened in professional pool matches. I can see how a stare down / face off would indeed create more viewership / interest in this match thereby justifying selling commercial time during the match at a higher dollar amount than usual. People that love the game are going to watch anyway but bringing in people who are not necessarily that interested in pool and affected emotionally through witnessing the stare-down would be susceptible to this type of manipulation and want to see who wins the "fight". Yes, it's silly and fatuous but highly effective as a money maker for everyone connected to the production of this pool match-up final.
Regarding "I had no idea this happened in professional pool matches" . . . *it doesn't happen* -- this was a one-off stunt mandated by the producer Kevin, a highly unprofessional hyper-salesman who eventually went bankrupt, but overall did have good intentions and lots of much-anticipated experimental ideas (backed up by much of his own wealth) for the sport at the time.
You are right man...!!!
@@raycarltonbilliards5798 thanks mr ray carlton....for the enlightenment...perhaps they all have the good laughs after the game. If efren still able to play these days, how will it look like seeing efren is the villain in any pool game? Just curious...

No one makes those razor-thin cuts better that Efren. Any newer players should note how the pros apply the "helper english" -- as Buddy Hall calls it -- (left side spin in this case) to make cuts that are 90 degrees or even more (spin that *_throws_* them easily, even when a player slightly undercuts them).
@@raycarltonbilliards5798 that's what I was drooling over. English is a hard thing to master. That's why they're the pros
There was a time in *every* pro's life when he/she was *not* a master -- and now the person *is* one. Ask yourself "How did that happen?" --- You'll immediately realize exactly how, and that realization tells you how you can (and will) get closer to mastery yourself. *There's only one way to get better at any worthwhile pursuit* .

Pacquiao and efren are legends and the humbleness is unexplainable
yes ..❤❤
even though I wasn't playing, I was so stressed out! rooting for Efren.
I agree,BATA should have a movie about him and there's a ton of coverage
The very successful Bollywood studios located in India -- rather than Los Angeles Hollywood ones -- would do an excellent biographical film for several very logical reasons: geographical proximity and intra-Asia language adeptness. Additionally, Amazon and Facebook are making huge, likely profitable, footprints into India's economy and could be interested in co-producing an Efren biographical film if a *_quality screenwriter's script_* would initiate such a film or TV project for mass general audiences. Efren's life is an historic success story with built-in worldwide appeal.
Things get even more interesting for future Efren fans everywhere because: I predict that by the year 3000 -- a living hologram -- an *_imperishable life-endowed hologram_* of Efren Reyes with all his abilities, will be brought in by shrewd gamblers to triumph over the AI (Artificial Intelligence) android robots who are winning all the *_3-dimensional pool tournaments_* played on 15-meter cubical pool tables in zero-G space environments in all of the Milky Way galaxy's populated solar systems and exoplanets . Efren will dazzle all the bettors and the androids with his powerful, but finessed 45-rail bank shots . The matches will be instantaneously transmitted to viewers throughout our galaxy *_via quantum entanglement sender/receivers_* and televised live around the globe and in time-delayed programs sent to precious metal miners working on the moon, Mars and several hundred asteroids.
I never got to play Efren Reyes, but I did play Rodney Morris on the Fla. Pro Tour in 2007 when Tony Crosby ran it. Rodney had the hardest break I have ever heard, once he broke and knocked the whole top of the one ball off, no what do you think of that? Ron Cerelli The Legend.

Rodney's strategy at the stare down failed😂😂. Efron wasn't phased
