The sad reality is that the cost of living in Montreal in 2024 has reached Toronto and Vancouver if not more due to the highest tax in Canada. The only different that still remains is the rent and the education for the Quebec residents. Spent one month in Montreal in October and was shocked how expensive everting became: the food, cafes, hotels entertainment , hair cuts and even metro .

Love this video so much! I was just in Paris (and London) a few weeks ago, and definitely enjoyed my time there! I'm an American, and obviously a native English speaker. I know very basic French, even less Spanish, and it was helpful enough to get through some conversations. I was with my mom, who has a physical disability (used a wheelchair to help get her around on long hauls), and it was nice to see how pleasant everyone was, even the French who didn't know a lot of English. Telling them I can read it better than I can speak it made it a lot easier, too! Reading the menus and translating them to my mom was helpful, too! When I head back to Europe (or even drive up to Montreal), I definitely would love to get better at speaking French!

Maybe no so much international as today, but with more quality of life. Olimpics in 92 marked an inflexion point. Today I live in a small village of 800h. I see many of yours interviews. Are ok. I think my visit to the old city was made less than wonderful by car traffic. It is hard to imagine a previous time when the streets are so full of honking horns. Although visiting the beaches are nice ( especially the Rosario Islands) I prefer inland Colombia and its many attractions. If someone were to ask me where to go in Colombia if they were visiting for the first time, it wouldn't be the coast.

Thanks to Tommy Douglas (Kiefer Sutherland's grandfather) we have universal health care in Canada. Not all provinces cover the same things, though I believe prenatal care, childbirth, and hospital stays related to giving birth, Cataract surgery, lumpectomy, knee and hip replacement surgery, some oral surgeries, x-rays, lab tests and other medically necessary services are covered. In Manitoba things like wrist splints and chiropractic services are partially covered while in some provinces they are not. Massage and Physio are not covered in Manitoba unless you have private insurance. Physio may be covered if you are receiving the treatment in the hospital. Unfortunately more and more private practices are opening in Canada which is leading more and more to a two-tiered system. They seem to have been "okayed" by both the conservative and liberal governments at different times in different provinces. In Manitoba there is only one company left (an American company) that does all of the lab testing - it became a monopoly under pallister.

If you come from a warm country, don’t go to Canada, it’s very cold there. Pick a warmer place, like Florida or Southern California. If you absolutely have to go, then go to Vancouver because the climate is milder but for God’s sake don’t go anywhere else, it’s freezing. Stay in a nice warm natural climate instead of moving to a cold hostile unnatural one.

I'm sorry, but being a fucking Harvard student and only knowing one language is pathetic. Making it very clear that I'm not talking about those who are still learning or who don't have time at the moment and haven't had an opportunity yet, I'm talking about those who think that knowing English is enough and that those who speak another language are the ones who need to learn English. (I'm Brazilian and seeing Brazilian students at Harvard is quite inspiring).☺
