The original ending was supposed to be Red heading down the road in the bus, but they thought it would be nice to reward the audience with that perfect ending. I don't always go for having a happy ending, just to placate the audience..But I think they got it right, here.

Here’s a suggestion so you will be possibly the only person reacting to this particular movie. The movie is the Well from 1951. As far as I know is not based on any true events, but it is definitely heartwarming. I originally watched it on DVD and then re-watched it with the commentary on which made me appreciate the movie even more. That is one thing that you don’t get with streaming. When I first watched it on DVD, it was not on CZcams, but it is now. If you can ever find it on DVD, watch it with the commentary on. You might want to have some tissues just in case.

If you weren't crying at the end of that movie...then something would be wrong with you!

As I recall, the original story is very short, only like a chapter or two in one of Stephen King's compilation books but man did they make a good movie out of it. On subsequent viewings you can almost see the wheels turning in Andy's mind plotting his long game. Great reaction girl.

The extended edition is the only way to go. It fills in so much context. You'll never know Boromir's back story. The theatrical version doesn't even exist, as far as I'm concerned. And fyi - 17 yrs passed from the time Gandalf left Hobbiton till he returned to confirm that Frodo had "The One Ring", and another several months till Frodo and Sam set out for Rivendell. Naturally there is so much more in the books than could be contained in the film. And btw, pipe-weed is tobacco, not marijuana. Also, it was a very powerful Elf Glorfindel who set out to look for Frodo and co. and came across them several days after Frodo was stabbed on Wheathertop - where he then carried Frodo to Rivendell chased by the Nazgul black riders. Elrond then cast a spell on the river from a distance and washed the black riders away. And btw, there's no CGI in these films. They're all physical effects and make-up, full-size sets, miniatures, forced perspective, and trick photography. Also, all the languages you hear are actual, complete working languages, with their own grammar, syntax, etc, created by JRR Tolkien. In fact, the languages came first, and the stories followed. Tolkien began crafting the world of Middle Earth after his service in battle during WWl. LOTR is among the top 5 best-selling books in human history, just behind The Bible and Don Quixote.

I've just noted something that strikes me as odd about the episode _Whom Gods Destroy._ This is supposed to be an episode with events revolving around all the last clinically insane people in the _Federation._ How is it that six of them are male, but only one is female? What are they implying?

This was Star Trek's tribute to the the old biblical/historical epic movies they use to make in the 1950s. More so that the actor who was playing the ambassador was the main bad guy in a major epic film called The Robe starring Richard Burton and Jean Simmons (who would later go on to star in star trek herself ) and its sequel Demetrious and the gladiators playing an over the top scene stealing Emperor Caligula. His name was Jay Robinson. So the fact he is in this episode inspired by mythology and the hollywood epics is not a coincidence.

Marta was played by Yvonne Craig, best known as Bat Girl from the 1960's TV Series "Batman". She was a trained dancer.

Elaan of Troyius is a Star Trek version of Shakespeare's The Taming of the Shrew

The doctor called Cory is actually the actor named Keye Luke who played the cartoon character Zoltar on Battle of the Planets from 1978-1980.

Elaan as Dohlman needs to "work with" the Council. I suggest that you think of the relationship similar to how the King or Queen of England has had to "work with" Parliament and the House of Lords for the last couple of centuries.

Neither of these are what would call top ranked episodes. Whom gods destroy has some interesting characters, but a lot of it is over the top
