Camping Saltpond Kauai, Hawaii
Much needed family time away from Netflix, phones, computers, and internet. I needed it the most. Nice to see friends and family stoping by and just enjoying each other in this beautiful gem on the west side of Kauai. I'm lucky to have an awesome wife who packed all this gear into the truck while I was at work. Thank you honey for this awesome camping trip. We all loved it. 1st camping trip of 2022. Saltpond has it all. Snorkeling, swimming, fishing, diving, drinking water, restrooms, wildlife, traditional Hawaiian salt beds, life guards, etc.

I hope my south side people enjoy this video of their town. It's sad to see the businesses barely holding on. The lack of pressure by the travel industry in the area is also giving the land a much needed vacation. I can't remember a summer when Koloa was so green and the beaches so empty. Aloha, Can you drive to the beach or is it only accessible via the trail? I took my family to a beach near the Hyatt many years ago down a long dirt road that had a lot of pot holes and wondering if that road is still open to the public. I rarely go to the south side and have friends visiting that I would love to take there. Thanks.
The only public access is a trail. There is a road which is private and kept locked. It’s actually illegal to deny access to the beach but they have been doing it for about 5 years now

most of them aren't actually ocean front. check the map of the cottages and you will see which ones are close to the ocean.

Is it affordable? or very expensive?
When we stayed there Kauai was in semi-quarantine. The prices were less than other 2-3 bedroom hotels. Not sure what they are going for now. This place has a more hands off and laid back feel than a resort which I very much enjoyed.
is you have enough money money it's affordable if not it's expensive $4,000 for 6 nights, beach is not the best

We stayed there for a month in 2019. We could here and watch the ocean from our Lanai across the street from the ocean.

I remember having and going to lots of parties at that pavilion back in the 70's and 80's and that playground wasn't there yet.
funny story, one of my earliest memories was a party where my brother and I got food sick at this park about 35+ years ago.
My parents lives 5 minutes from Opaekaa fall in the homesteads area
The history of this town is fascinating. I've visited a couple of times but didn't get a chance to really explore it and get a feel of its local spirit. I'm not sure if you felt blessed to have grown up in such a place, as small town life is usually not appreciated by the youth, only when you've left it and realize what a blessing it was.
