Love to follow you on your travels Mike and to see part of the world I may never get to see in person. Loved the black and white image and the colour reflections looked awesome, especially the one of the sheds on stilts. Is it the Atlantic Ocean Mike or are you further north?

Wow that last purple sky shot was amazing. I love all the colours you have down there. Houses, benches, rocks and boats, verything had colour. Here everything is grey or black of white. Go to a parking and 95 percent of all card are that colour also. Dutch people are really boring when it comes to using colours around they're houses. Grt guido

Beautiful shots, we are homesick for Bonavista already after our trip in late May & June. We experienced what appeared to be dear flys only in dense woods and no mosquitoes but not in the open areas. Thanks for your forbearance.

Hi Mike, Beautiful shots !! I can't get enough Puffins, I just love'em!!😊 There is indeed a Stellars Eagle that has made it's new home in Trinty, if you take the boat tour they usually travel by it's new nest it began building this year. It's not seen everytime of course, but it is still here and has been photographed quite a lot this year. Apparently it is the only know wild Stellars Eagle living in the western Hemisphere, they are native to East Russia, East China and along that coastline down to Japan, if I'm not mistaken, possibly came through the arctic maybe lost its bearings in a storm ended up travelling south to Newfoundland instead of China or Japan lol, that's my best guess😅 A google search will return results with pictures of our adopted friend living in Trinty, she is stunningly beautiful. The shots of the harbour in the village were beautiful. Bright colours reflected in calm water. I also appreciated your explanation of the photo of the street lamp-lit ramp.

If you want a few translations.... Saint-Pierre was a part of New-France, the French colonies in North America (16th-17th centuries) with Canada, Acadia and Louisiana. The archipelago became definitely French in 1816 (they are actually two connected islands : Saint-Pierre et Miquelon, and a few smaller islands). The lighthouse says "Pointe aux canons" because it is located on the "Cannons' Point" ( You can see the cannons later - They were used to defend the island against the English - they wanted the island too -1690-1713). The signs : Centre-ville = town center - Débarcadère = landing stage - Belvédère = lookout point - Caserne = barracks - The red sign with the squirrel logo is a bank (Caisse d'Epargne), the squirrel is the symbol of foresight. The yellow building with red windows is the "Préfecture", the administrative center ; you can find one in each French département (county). La Maison du Combattant = The House of the Combatant The memorial statue "A nos marins disparus" = To our missing sailors" - The other memorial remembers the two World Wars fallen soldiers. The colored houses are not typical of France, but rather of Northern Europe countries.

Thanks, Mike! You have encouraged me to do a bit of night photography. I have been avoiding it for various reasons. One is that I find it a little difficult to manage the artificial lights. Your Saturday night drive through downtown St. John’s is illustrative of how my photos turn out at night. Although I am hardly a night owl, it makes sense for me to do night photography because I am in Saigon, where nights are pleasant and days are … ovenly. I guess I will have to experiment, but any comment you might have beside matrix metering would be more than welcome. You mentioned that a Cross is missing from the Cathedral and that this would have to be fixed. Did you mean that the cathedral would have to be fixed or that you would insert a second cross in the photo? If the latter, I suggest not making any change because the missing Cross makes the photo historical.

Outstanding photography and videography! My wife and I were there on June 12th and it was beautiful then. Amazing location and well worth the long drive. That one lane road to and from the highway is a doozy but we never met a car, just lucky I guess. My wife and I were shooting OM-1 & G9 Mk II cameras with Oly 300. PL 100-400 V. 1 and PL 50-200mm 2.8-4 with a 1.4 TC. We got some good shots but yours are much better. My wife is interested to learn your OM-1 video settings being that you had such outstanding video. I got a shot of some eggs but we were there too early for the chicks. I see you published this two weeks ago. Is that about when you were there? We are considering another trip to the area next year but also a return visit to the Newfoundland west coast. I loved Bonavista and the puffins in late May. My wife has a CZcams channel “lesdubb” where she just published her first Bonavista video. We are still getting used to our new gear but the trip was absolutely wonderful. Living in Florida I have to wait until November for the migration to get more bird photography opportunities. Hey my birthplace! When I lived in St. John's I did the downtown tour at least once a week. I too love the Battery, especially in winter and at night! The hiking trail through the Battery along Signal Hill to the Cabot Tower is breathtakingly beautiful, (not too difficult, but tiring lol) I always dread the stairs at the end though😊 but so worth it for the views! The JellyBean Row houses on the road up to Signal Hill are actually under strict upkeep conditions as a part of the history & heritage of St. John's, and have to keep their colours, they can't just change it. The other homes you photographed may also have to follow the same rules, but I'm not positive. St. John's has so much beautiful history, but sadly a lot was "left behind", like the war bunkers on Southside😢 Love the old churches, & architecture, they're incredibly stunning inside! I would easily get sea sick on the ferry. Very colorful island. Never heard of this island. Did not know France owned that island. ! Spent 14 months at Goose Bay in Newfoundland. Severe cold there in winter and 100" of snow in winter. Eh. Thanks Sir. 😊😊

Love the colours, gives me a van Gogh or Monet impression, lovely images. Too bad the heavy fog. Love how the French lifestyle remains, I noticed a lot of "American vehicles", not too surprised, I liked seeing the European autos The houses remind me of The Netherlands and France of course lol😅 They very much resemble houses painted by van Gogh, Rembrandt and others. Thanks for sharing this visit. I have never been to St. Pierre. May I give you a little critique? The HDR effect in some of your photos is a bit strong to my taste. That is just one man’s opinion, of course.

Love watching you visit places I want to see 😊 Have you been to Newtown? They call it "Little Venice", as it's made up of several islands linked by bridges. Quaint little town with the Barbour Heritage Living site (usually awesome food😊), it's on the Northeast coast, Bonvista Bay North. Cape Freels is minutes away with the Cabot Trail and great bird viewing. Greenspond is also in this area (New-Wes-Valley), its home to one of the oldest court/jail houses in Newfoundland. Much more to see here, it's also home for the "Lucky Seven". Enjoy your narration, brings me along without the workout😊

Thanks for sharing! Lots of great information. I got into 4x5 a few years ago, I love the process and the large negatives. I will admit, I don’t shoot as much 4x5 as 35mm or medium format. Large format is a very slowed down experience, everything is planning and methodical.

I wish we had a rock like that with birds close. Closest I know is in Scotland or helgoland but it's all more then a day to travel there. Love the images of those flying birds. Vird detection worked great its all pin sharp to the eye. Great night image also with that building in the fog. The focus stack at the end was really awsome. Thanks for sharing. Grt guido
