So you spend 300. on an axe you can't checkout and play in person, then pay more for tuners, electronics, pickups, bone nut, luthiery work and it's more than you'd spend on an Epi, ESP, LTD or other better built import axe. Hmmm...sounds dumb to me...😆

I'd rather buy a Chibson than a genuine Gibson because the build quality is so inconsistent/poor, it not longer matters who makes them. Yes, it's illegal and shady, but if Gibson actually made premium guitars that matched the price they are charging, it wouldn't be so much of an problem. Which other manufacturers guitars can be sucessfully copied on the same level of Gibson? I've owned about 15 different SG style guitars over the years including Gibson, Epiphone, Tokai, Vintage, ESP LTD and Burny. I still own all of them apart from the Gibsons.

These amps sound great (dirty channel, clean is disposable). I had one for a while and only sold it to get something completely different, as we do, but I would own another with no problem. Great 800 and modded 800 tones are in there. Into a 4x12 is where it’s at but the stock speaker is still fine really. I also really like the Origin series. I think if they had made a head version of the 40c it would have sold a lot! Strangely enough, the one that came after, the 40cr, I don’t like at all.

nice greeney copy, only thing that gives it away at first glance is the pickup rings,they look epiphone sized and not gibson sized with the screw hole alighnment. i guess i have been unlucky with my order, claims delivered but obviously ended up at wrong address....jason kindly agreed to send a replacement. sent several emails to see what is happening, but nothing. so far i have parted with my money but recieved no guitar from bad cat. the lack of communication is shocking. and worrying. have a sub though dude

I have this same model and gave it a nice overhaul. It's definitely one of my favorites.

sweet guitar brother! i have a chibson "jimmy page number one" clone which i turned it into a "newer greeny" model with vanson 59 spec chrome humbuckers... did the outta phase mod and its a sweet one!

I was more impressed with the Halfords Screwdriver which are also good for the money

I have to disagree about your Greeny opinion. Atleast it's being used instead of being locked in a vault to never be seen again.

What difference does it make if the Mahogany & Rosewood & Maple top is made in China Most people think how the hell can they make something that cheap But the question is how the hell can they rip you off for so much for a lump of wood & little bit of electronics

the finish checking looks fake. I have no doubt that guitar is a ringer. the chinese never do a good job dressing their fret ends.

I have one of these Dave. Same issue can't get the bridge low enough. Not only that but the saddles are pre cut to a depth all very nice but on my Lefty they fit a right bridge so my high E is in the cut for a low E. Can't see an easy way to get the saddles out to swap them around. Not forgetting of course the Gibson right-handed harness they put in all of there lefty guitars. Oh and the final irony on the Iommi signature Gibson, if you put a set of Iommi string guage on you don't have the range to itonate it properly. 😂😂

I have owned several and for an extra couple dollars I get them to put my name on the headstock 😉

At the end of the day they are a wood & electronics Eddie Van Halen built home made jobs

Have you tried turning the bridge around-not the saddles, therefore putting the springs on the opposite side?

I am cinfused as to why the strings are on the way you have them. Is that better ..

yeah, the thing with chibsons is that all of the hardware they come with is just a placeholder and you absolutely HAVE to replace everything. that's why i will be switching everything to gotoh hardware with EMGs

Dave, I feel that every time I've picked up any Gibson guitar - problems. I can forgive a $200-400 guitar for having slight issues. A $2000-4000 guitar - inexcusable. Provided that the Iommi is legit, I've seen them in Australia for about the $4500 mark. And you're right it would be based on the 60's SG specials. Which is probably why the badass bridge is all the way down on this. They originally came with a different bridge and Tony modded his original for the badass bridge. Gibson have been building these replica guiitars, design faults and all for the public because guitarist want authentic spec'ed guitars, regardless of the original design flaws. So you can partly blame guitarists buying this nonsense because it's a Gibson 😆

Nice guitar! I know you live over in Britain that's cool! One of my favorite bands of all time is The Sweet. Yes I had the same problem with my SG. I put the strap button on the top horn. And used a wider strap. Someday I would like to go to England and visit Liverpool where the Beatles grew up. Great videos keep up the good work!

Those Guitar Center signature series Gibsons are terrible.

Ive bought 2 of these, and truss rods on each explorers are fake. Guitars for now plays great, but neck adjustments isnt possible

I have a number of chibs as gig guitars you basically have to rework them and put better Electronics in it rework the neck and maybe do a refret job but they are good bases for working guitars that you don't have to worry about someone stealing them

My reverb stopped working the 2nd time I powered it up because one of those tiny screws holding one of the inductors stripped out.

Do the other strings keep stable?

Do the rollers interfere with the benefits of top wrapping? and do both rollers and carved slots benefit the same from the reduced the break angle tension created by wrapping over the tailpiece?

I bought a DSL 15C when it was new. I want to replace the tubes and the speaker. I saw some videos where they made it sound even better.

i don't own a fret puller tool .. never have. i use 2 sharp wood chisels , 3/4 inch. use bevel side down. carefully push together ,get under the fret and lever up. never fails for me .

I think it's ridiculous what Gibson charges for a Les Paul. Most of your best made guitars come from Japan or China. Let's be honest, the Japanese take much more pride in the work and product they produce than us Americans do. I'm not just mouthing off based on opinion but from my own experience. 2 years ago, I bought a brand new Gibson custom silverburst les paul. I paid almost 6k for this guitar and not to mention I had to order it and then wait 4 months for it. I figured for 6k the guitar would be perfect. Well.... no exactly... On the neck it had a paint run spot that they tried to cover up but did a awful job. Had 2 frets that were higher than the rest. After noticing all that I decided to check the wiring. 1 of the wires from the switch had a burn mark exposing the copper and there were little solder fragments everywhere. I actually turned the guitar upside down and most of the fragments fell out. The rest I pulled out. Needless to say I got in touch with Gibson about this matter and I was stunned at what they had to say. They assured me that when the guitar left there factory it wasn't in that shape and the deficiencies I found were all done by shipping and need to contact the shipping company and file a claim. Needless to say I finally had to get a lawyer to handle the matter and after a year and half I received my $ back and I happily shipped them the guitar back. Lesson learned, just because you pay 3-6k for a guitar, does not guarantee your getting a 3-6k guitar.
