How to change your oil on 2019-2022 chevy Silverado 2500 HD with 6.6 gas engine, does it burn oil?
I average about 13.9
scared the living hell out that boy 😂😂🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
a little tip for the oil filter, use a gallon zip lock bag when you twist it off to avoid a huge mess. im so glad to be back in a chevy hd because oil change on ram 1500s is an absolute shit show with placement of oil filter and drain plug
Lmfao, since the carburator what exactly has changed other than a heated steering wheel ?
My truck wasn’t using oil until I reach 100k miles and I’ll say every 4k I have to put a quart of oil in it.
That not that bad.
I have a 24 2500 gas. I stay at 11.8 mpg. Mixed driving, unloaded or loaded…
Thanks Mike. Changing my 2022 Silverado 2500 HD 6.6 today for the first time today. I’ve done hundreds in my life yet still refer to CZcams sometimes just to make me feel better 😂 thanks for the video ✌🏻
Glad I could help
Equal length exhaust???
1 3/4” long tube headers, 3” x pipe and 20” turn down pipes.
@@michaellecount8510 Sounds great, no clappy crap everyone seems to like now. I'm running Stainless Works 1-7/8 catted long tubes with 3" x-pipe and Black Widow Neighborhaters. Mine is pretty ridiculous, super loud but still clean. Eventually I want to run a fuel cell under the bed and run equal length all the way out the back. Planning on getting BTR's new hemi Truck Norris cam as well.
If you was just starting this and didnt have anything would you have been just as happy with a 5.3?
Yes. I think the 5.3 would probably make Mabey 30 less hp , just due to the size difference. But If your looking for max power always go as big as you can afford.
@michaellecount8510 ok I've been leaning more towards the 6.0 but im working with a beer budget so I may have to go with a 5.3. But thanks and Goodluck, you got my sub!
Thankyou for the sub. If you’re able to pull an engine from a self serve junkyard they would all be the same price. Last time I was at LKQ they were 2 lq4 and a couple sets of 243 heads there ready for the picking. But their prices have went up a lot in the last couple years. Good luck
Nice build! What's the details?
Check out the video I just posted.
It would probably outrun my ole truck. Sounds good.
Is it stock?
No
@@michaellecount8510 Sounds good. Looks good. Goes good.
I just posted another video with details about the truck
@@michaellecount8510 Thanks.
It ONLY sounds like a race car?! 😂
I really don’t know how fast it is in 1/4 , but it’s sounds good , to me , and does really good burnouts.
You gotta give us the specs!
I’ll make a video soon about what I’ve done to the truck.
Get a punch and poke a hole in the bottom of the filter before you take it off. It's a lot cleaner, lol.
Damn she sounds like a beast
You said you don't really save money doing it yourself... I'm wondering what you spent to do the oil change and what would it have cost you to go to a local oil changer business, i.e. Valvoline, Jiffy Lube or whatnot. Good video, thanks!
dealers and shops usually charge 100$ mine at chevy dealer was 108$
2024 High Country. 17.7 - 19 highway mileage with 1500-1800 on odometer. (at 65 mph)
I disagree sir. I drive in Los Ángeles. Am at 9.0 MPG on the street in my 2024 gas. No heavy foot. Could it be because it’s brand new??
I assume you truck has the 10 speed transmission? What rear gear? Your truck is a California truck , is there any differences there. I’m in Indiana. My truck has the 6 speed transmission with the only gear option available for the gas truck , a 373. Mine was definitely worse when it was new , but was never that bad. Your opinion of a heavy foot and mine may differ so ? Idk
Nice job.
Thank you
Does it matter those metal get rust around? Mine is 2024 and it gets rust already, 😮
Sorry , but I don’t understand your question.
@@michaellecount8510 I mean, I saw on the bottom of the truck somewhere got rusted already , and mine had the same problem, does it matter ?
It’s a shame the price you pay for these new trucks that they don’t rust proof this stuff. Looks like the rusty parts your talking about is the axle tube on the front differential and the other part looks to be some sort of stabilizer for the front diff. It’s kind of hard to tell from the video. I wouldn’t worry to much about the rust on these items. If it bothers you clean them up and get some spay paint and paint them. Good luck!!
@@michaellecount8510 yea that’s what I did, already applied some paint on it, thanks
I'm ordering a 2024 2500HD this month myself. I really don't like the quality of Delco filters anymore, I used them for years on my Pontiac Bonneville and 74 GMC C1500. I only use Wix or Purolator now. New subscriber!
Thanks for watching , more videos coming soon.
Did u say yall filled the oil filter 3/4 full? If u did, why? Never filled the filter before on any of my other vehicles.
It takes the pump couple seconds on initial start up to pump oil though out the engine. It is going though the filter first, so why not try and speed that process up by filling your oil filter? Some vehicle the filter is positioned in such a way that filling it with oil when installing it is not possible, but on this truck it is very easy to fill it and install. So my question is why wouldn’t you fill it first. Most engine wear comes from initial start up when is no oil pressure for a couple seconds.
Thanks Good video
You’re welcome
I have a 2015 Silverado HD 6 liter , I’m getting 12 mpg on my best day, I’m hoping my new Silverado HD with 10 speed will at least get me 4 mpg more, we’ll see, love the truck otherwise
Thanks
Sounds great 👍.
Very Awesome Michaelle, sounds great. Congratulations 💯👍
Thanks
Great idea Mike. Thanks for sharing. The Orange paint looks great on the block. I just subscribed to your channel. Take care, Ed.
Tha you sir! I subscribed to your as well
@@michaellecount8510Thank you Michaelle, I appreciate it.👍
Sick build man
Thanks
Them exhaust valves love that shit
They'll only burn a bit more oil being left cold like that. Nothing an Italian tune up won't do.
I bet that was Loud as shit gotdAmn
Yeah, I’m sure the neighbors hate me now. Lol
Thanks for the safety tip!
My 2024 LTZ with the 6.6 gas with Allison, I just look out the window not at fuel mileage, gets better fuel mileage than my trail boss so I’m more than happy
That was about as strait forward as it gets!. Thanks. I have 2022 2500hd coming hope this week. Did you do anything special to break it in?
Congrats on the truck! For the first 500 miles I didn’t do any hard accelerations like more that 50% throttle , and I did the first oil change at 1,000 miles. When I was breaking it in the fuel mileage was averaging about 13.5 and now I’m at 19,000 miles and I’m getting 15.5 everyday going back and fourth to work. No interstate miles in my daily drive either. Also I do not have any oil consumption either , I change oil every 4-5 k miles using exactly what the owners manual recommends and AC delco filter. Good luck to you sir!czcams.com/video/B56XvQ0RlBk/video.html
@@michaellecount8510 thanks for info. It just came in today
I would consistently get 18mpg with the Ford 7.3 without really trying. The 6.6 is indeed a hog but I think this stems from the 6 speed it was unfortunately saddled with for a few years. 2024 model is gonna be pretty competitive I think.
My question is does it burn oil like I read on other channels?
I have not had that issue, I’ve never had to add oil between oil changes. czcams.com/video/B56XvQ0RlBk/video.html
I’m looking at a 24 2500Hd 6.6 gas with the 10 speed Allison.
Been a long time Mike, hope life's treating you well. Eash
Yeah it been a few years. Hope you’re so well also.
Well done Mike. Your first video , awesome 👍 Stick with it bud.
Thankyou sir
