I went to Pt. Pleasant Beach NJ throughout the entire year and documented the weather, sights, and sounds each time. I started this monthly check-in project in 2022 as a way to look back at the cycle of a quiet place that starts to pick up, becomes very vibrant, and then goes back to it's slumber.

my sister and i did this yeeeeeeeaars ago. they let us go an extra 2-3 times in the boats for free becuause we were the only people in boats and it was attracting people to play. sad this is gone
awesome memory! I miss the boat tag. there's a Curley's Fries there now (ugh) . doubt they'd give out free fries the way you got a free rides, sigh...

Enjoyed the video as usual. Wildwood was blacked out when we visited this past summer so I feel like we really missed out on most of our vacation. Great video! I didn't do much this year. Went on the boardwalk a few time's. You want to relax and yet have to run around to do and see stuff. 😂 I said in the first video that I went in August from the 12th to the 26th. And heck yes it goes by so fast. 😂 What was the food from the place across Duffer's? It looked delicious. Duffer's was my first stop when I went to wildwood. I crave the nachos they have. And I don't get why they are making all of these parking lots. Like how many do you need. Not a fan of a lot of the stuff they are doing. Like building more condo's and such. 🤦🏻♂️ Do you have an Instagram? Also Joey from wildwood video archives did a video walking in the ghost ship if you wanted to get an idea of how it was. Great video! When did you go to Wildwood? I went August 12th to the 26th. I also hate that they put a Starbucks in wildwood. I am a Dunkin guy. They are going to regret that decision when it creates traffic like you said. When Joey from Wildwood Video Archive showed it I was thinking the same exact thing. 🤦🏻♂️ It went by so fast. Where are you from Sean? I grew up in South Philly (Grays Ferry). Alot of Gallagher families lived there at St Gabriel's Parish. Your vaation looks nice. I live here and barely visit these places anymore. I guess you just get use to it.

Starbucks might not survive that location...don't forget, at one time there was a McDonalds and a Burger King on the Boardwalk.....most people that visit WW are all about the mom and pop places, so don't fret.......Love our week in WW every year...and been coming for 35 yrs.

Hi, I felt like I was back there again. You are absolutely correct in saying the worst thing about the vacation is having to check out! We usually stay at one of the hotels on the boardwalk. We enjoy the Adventurer because of the location but we have stayed in others. My brother has a house in Cape May so we stayed there this year. Nice to meet you. 🥰

Dante's is on Surfside Pier. Love it and hope it's around forever, a classic haunt!

We almost always stayed at the attache. Great pool walk to the Boardwalk and right on the beach. A little pricey but it now feels like home.

thanks! You and your wife will love it. Nice, clean boardwalk. Joey Tomatoes for some pizza, the Jenkinson's sweet shop for some candy, and maybe a nice fruit juice from Playa Bowls. Be sure to check out downtown Pt. Pleasant as well, lots of nice quaint mom and pop shops, coffee shops etc.
I am so sad that this is gone. I never played it, but this was such an iconic part of Wildwood that’s been there since I was a kid. Will be weird not seeing it there anymore.
I only played it a few times but I too am very sad. It is indeed iconic, and it's been there as long as I've been going (93) . So sad it's gone...

Really enjoyed the video, Sean; mature, calm narration, nice & smooth movements, no ridiculous ultra quick-cutting or irritating machine "music" in the background (unlike far too many WW videos on CZcams). So nice to see all the things we've missed yet again this year. Hope you both had a great time. The weather certainly seemed to be on your side! Never knew they had double floor rooms in the Shalimar. Very cool! Funny thing: IF we had gone down this year, we had narrowed it down to staying at The Viking, right next door to you. And the days we were looking at would've overlapped with yours! Damn. Also just wanted to give you a heads-up that I can no longer access the forum (even though I haven't posted there in a long time anyway). Everything was fine up until about two weeks ago, but whatever subtle changes the site's webmaster made to it since then has suddenly caused a notice to pop-up stating the my browser is no longer compatible. It recommends using Firefox or Google Chrome (both of which I also have installed), but I get the same notice even when I switch to those, so I'm assuming that the *versions* of them necessary are too new for my OS to get (still using Vista, but have no such problems accessing most other favorite sites -- many of which have far more intensive graphics than on the DPL site). Go figure! Very frustrating to say the least! Hope all is well and thanks again for the 1/2hr visit, even if it was just "virtual"! ;)
Hello Jeff, thank you so much for watching and your kind words. Indeed, I can't stand a lot of the videos..loud noises, crazy cuts, music. I take a different approach. I want the viewer to feel like they're there with me. I also have another 1/2 drive along video from the trip. I just look at it like how home videos were filmed back in the 80s and 90s, and try to bring that into the modern times. Wow, that would have been cool if you stayed at the Viking! My girlfriend and I have decided that the week before Labor Day will be our go to week and will be going down that time next year. It's still warm, but not as crowded as July and even a week prior in August. I like to go in August as it gives me something to look forward to all summer before going back to work. Would be awesome if you & Donna make it down around that time next year! :) Bummer about the forum, that's odd. Let's stay in touch through email if you'd like. Not only do the motel rates go down, but the crowds are noticeably down also, as you said, and it's usually not quite as hot as earlier in the season. Early-mid June is nice too for the same reason (although we've only did that once, back in that '91 video). For a long time we actually went down in early-mid September - which has even more pleasant weather and still lower rates - but once D. starting working in a school (back in '99), we obviously weren't able to do that anymore. Only problem was the number of our favorite restaurants & other places that were only open on weekends or already closed completely for the year by then. Despite the few special events down there in Sept.& Oct, many businesses in the Wildwoods seem a bit too anxious to "roll-up their carpets" right after labor day, unfortunately. I've always thought it also seems like giving a virtual "middle finger" to the 7,000 or so full-time residents in those four towns. Anyway, you know as good as the quality of your videos shot with your small still camera are, you really deserve to treat yourself to at least one of the little dedicated video cameras on the market (regardless of the slight inconvenience). ;) Thanks also for your email. I was actually going to ask you for it, but wanted to find a way to do so without you having to post it on YT. Really good to hear from you and look foward to seeing your other video.
@@Onneff69 Totally agree, I wish more businesses were open up until the end of October, at least. If more businesses were open, I'd love to go down around Christmas season. Indeed, it does seem like the full-time residents get the middle finger in the off-season. I had a gimble which we forgot to pack, yikes! That improves the steadiness of the videos even more. I was thinking of picking up a camera too. I have no problem sharing my email with you Jeff, it is an honor!
