Planning my European concert program (Harp Tuesday ep. 285)
Get free sheet music and stay up-to-date on what I'm doing by signing up to my email newsletter at www.joshlayne.com/connect.html
Here's a look at what I'm performing this fall in Europe (www.joshlayne.com/ ) and why I choose the pieces I did, as well as some thoughts on how I want to play music I am passionate about and draw the audience in for a shared experience of music that I love, rather than thinking about trying to please an audience whose tastes I can only guess at and never know.
This episode is the third of a trilogy of episode I've filmed this year around the topic of concert programs. Check this video about how I practice and prepare for a concert: www.harptuesday.com/ep275/ and this one on the typical structure/framework that I'm looking for in a concert program: www.harptuesday.com/ep277

Since getting a larger size iPad pro 4 years ago I've gone completely digital with sheet music. It’s all in the stresses in the “triplets”. Normally, a triplet has a stress on the first note. However, with this section, the right hand has the sound of duples. Within a pair of “triplets”, a slight stress is on 1, then 3, and then 2 in the “triplets”.

Lots of practice will help build good muscle memory and visual memory of where the harmonics are! Yes, you can certainly mark harmonics (though that mark will only apply for whatever position the pedal or lever is in when you made the mark) and if you're playing a piece with one or two really important harmonics you might choose to do so. I've always enjoyed the challenge (and adrenaline rush) of finding them so I've yet to mark anything :)

Thank you so very much for posting this Josh. I purchased an older Lyon and Healy Troubadour, produced in the 1980s. The first thing that I had to do was to go back to L&H to purchase additional used levers to retrofit it. I think I'm down to one lever that's not quite the way I wish it was. A friend of mine and I regulated what we could where we had to swap out levers and/or replace strings. This video is very helpful!
