I have the medium sized carry on closet hard-side bag, and I also have the Venture (Endeavor) backpack with the closet. I have to say that the backpack is genius -- fits into the backpack so much better than the suitcase. I just ended up removing the closet from the actual suitcase and sticking it into a little larger (and lighter) Samsonite bag I have. I'm checking it all anyway and using the backpack as my carry-on, and I just couldn't get the suitcase to shut without a huge amount of effort. I'll see if I like living out of the closet. I'm on a concert tour with my choir to Venice, Slovenia and Croatia and will be staying in 5 different hotels. But with the Samsonite, I can fill up the other side and it closes with plenty of extra room left if I want to buy something. In total, the Samsonite with the closet loaded and all my other stuff weighs 32 lbs. We have a limit of 50 lbs. for our check in bag. Thanks for this excellent review. I am going to use packing cubes and my Samsonite from here on out unless I'm on a really short trip.

If you were to recommend one “carry on” to a friend that travels within the USA and Mexico, would you pick the small carry on or the front pocket carry on?

Slash proof straps would convince me to get this bag, however, at $129 that’s a big no for me for what it is. I also agree with someone else who said the hidden and back pockets should be zip.

I prefer reviews after using them because that’s when you really understand the pros and cons of any given bag. However, I think all your reviews are great. Question: What do you think of the BÉIS toiletry bags with regard to the 311 rule? I like that the Dopp kit opens like the weekender but you’d have to pack your liquids in a separate see through bag. The Dopp kit might also be too big. I like the in flight essentials which looks smaller but I don’t know if it is TSA compliant with the two separate sides.

The other great thing about bringing your own snorkel is you never have to worry how it was cleaned. I was on a catamaran in the Bahamas and went snorkeling and then saw the VERY minimal spraying of the snorkels on the way back after we used them. 😮

I had planned to buy one of the Synik packs last year on Black Friday. However, Tom Bihn does not offer Black Friday sales. I didn’t know that prior to that day. I was disappointed.

How is the trolley handle? Is it sturdy?

This video just saved my roommate from having a VERY bad trip to Japan. She would have had an issue with her ADHD medication (either charged with a crime for bringing it into the country or having it confiscated and then having to go cold-turkey without her ADHD meds for 2 weeks, or having to cancel the trip at the last minute.) Now she has nearly 9 months to find an alternative that she can get used to before taking her trip.

It’s stinks that someone who travels so much gets motion sickness. It reminds me of a vet I had that was allergic to pet dander. It’s a cruel world when the thing you love most in the world doesn’t always love you. Glad to know that you can take something that lets you still do what you love.

regular packing cubes seems to be the way to go. the compression ones are a good idea but not so much in practice. it's only "compressing" the sides and you get bulging in the center.

And some people seem to forget that pretty much ANY place you travel to there will be some variety of grocery store or department store. They will have many things that you will need. You might be picky about one personal care item, but it is something that you aren’t as picky about, just buy some new stuff when you get there and then leave it there when you leave. Or bring it home if you haven’t gone over your limits.

What travel umbrella is that?

Zip pockets on front and back are really helpful for travel for quick access and for protection. Needs at least a back zipper pocket for wallet/phone/passport.

I don’t think the magnetic closure would be the best for safety especially internationally That can very easily be yanked off your body.

Unboxings are fun, but I prefer some real information about how something works.Lots of things look good on the surface or from the company description,but the reality doesn't always march up.
