I know that you said there is a there is gonna be always 200 meter runner but why is there a sometimes 400 meter runner
Tara Davis long jump technique is amazing 🔥 I need to take some from notes from her
Dawg chill 😂
8x50m w/ 1 min rec., all out, 10m run in
YOU NEED TO SPRINT! Think of it as a 300 meter race, the last 100 is just where you use all your might and try to stay alive. Get out of the blocks 70% of what you would use for a 200m, get to a fast top speed (say 80%) and if you feel yourself slowing down, try to move your legs faster (swing your arms consciously too) naturally you slow down inevitably, and over the last 100, Give em hell.
No you think that then you get built with adrenaline I got a 1 min 11 seconds and I’m 13 thinking it would turn out bad but I just ran
Speed order 3, 1, 4, 2. Its not complicated. and please believe me, good teams lose or under perform by not practicing enough on hands-off & timing. I was on a lazy good team.
Actually the best way to order a 4 x 100 was to create a foreign exchange program at your local high school with Caribbean Island high school students
Coleman + Bednarik + Knighton + Lyles = world record.
How do you order a 4x800?
bro my team is exactly as complex as you say, please make more videos like this
Most coaches do this because most people who do track don’t take it as their main sport. Ppl from football, basketball, soccer, etc take it as a conditioning sport
i think that the second leg should be the fastest because he run more than every other leg so you can use his speed for more meters
I used to agree and theoretically it's true, but the problem is with the mental side. Your second fastest sprinter won't be as used to winning races/being the one chased and might bottle it. Watch GB at the 2021 Olympics and 2023 World Championships and the last runner bottles the medal, a more experienced sprinter wouldn't.
So have the same person run the last leg that runs the second leg, gotcha 👍 😉
my interpretation of this: 1) The most explosives starts 2) Second fastest in your team 3) The one who's comfortable in the curve 4) yeah basically the GOAT in ya team
Damn I ran a 10.61 for the 100 in 8th grade and I was place 1st leg….
Cool story brah. You are also a terrible listener along with being terrible with a baton.
You ain’t run a 10.61 in 8th buddy
@@adrianpena800 Maybe he means 60m, We ran than ussualy in primary scholl
@@janjurhar6245 but thats like hella slow
@@riderwachal1814 for 8th grade? I would said thats not bad, he was 13-14, no?
In my opinion it’s 1st leg is the best starter, 2nd leg is the slowest on the team, 3rd leg is 200M runner who can run the curve and finally the anchor leg is obviously the fastest
nahh the second usually needed the second fastest in your team bro. you looked at them like they're slow but it is important to have speed momentum in that area, hence why people always put the second fastest sprinter in the second leg since it's a straight course too
2nd leg is the longest leg, theres absolutely no way im putting my slowest guy on there. I actually like the idea of putting your fastest guy on this 2nd leg and 2nd fastest on anchor. But those two can be interchanggeable
Haha. I’ve seen those team those “he almost caught them, if only the race was 10 meters longer for sure he’d have caught up”. If you’re going to hide your slowest guy, hide him on the 3rd leg by putting him deep in the exchange zone and putting the last leg high in their exchange zone.
What would be the comparison of adding sprinting for strength gaining rather than just lifting weights?
the thing is, sprinting isn't added for strength gains, weight training is best for that. But I believe that no movement enhances overall explosiveness like sprinting does while also raising strength at the same time
@@TrackHead03 Thank you :)
This video is making things real
My alltime 4x100 team would be: Start: Chris Coleman Leg 2: Yohan Blake Leg 3: Carl Lewis Leg 4: Usain Bolt
replace carl lewis with tyson gay and then its good
Add Justin Gatlin to 2nd get rid of Carl Lewis and replace him with Blake on third
@@axelwhopperTyson Gay was terrible on the curve and not the best receiving or passing the baton.
@@humanboy395That’s definitely a well built team!

Yes l was right thats what l do
Thanks. Now I know my best runner should run all 4 legs. Super helpful!
😂
Lol sprinters are born not made
You need both training and genetics to be top tier, that's true. But to be good but not competitive its training
I'm the best at all of these out of my friends but we're doing some 100 meter relays and this will be helpful thanks ❤
You’re also the coach too?
@@Hengel_Andrewsit's for a very competitive P.E class and I am the only one who runs semi-pro sprints
@Hengel_Andrews😂
Yeah, basketball players make great 400m runners. not
i get what you're saying but basketball players DO make good sprinters. With just a few lactate workouts they would make good 400m sprinters as well. But you NEED to be fast and explosive first before even thinking about being good at the 400. Speed and plyos are what's truly essential for all sprinters lactate workouts are just necessary supplements for the longer sprints. Hope this helps
@@TrackHead03 if by DO you mean DON'T, I agree
Glad you mentioned Multi-eventers. Some like Damien Warner, are so good overall, his results would have qualified him for individual events such as LJ.
add hurdles to the mix, intensity level doubles!!!
Girls be trynna hurt me and forgot my main event is the 400, then I gotta start the 4x4 about hour later, I don’t think it get more painful than this 😂
its gonna help you in the 200m because you can sprint the whole race
Try the 800 400 and then the 4x4 all around one hour apart from each other
For a 4/8 guy you gotta be fast and enduring so I found what works is the off-season make half of your days sprint/top speed work and the other half long slow endurance. When cross season hits, double the mileage and go aerobic. After xc, refresh your speed with 1-2 weeks with the sprinters, then afterwards go full speed endurance with 1 long a week
With tthis, you can't at least have a headstart with speed instead of rushing a ton of lactate
@@VenxlationLactate is potent, both for and against progress. And the best Lactate is Race Lactate🔥
Feed the cats, it's all about improving your top speed, which increases your sub-max velocity. That is for sprinters. 800m and longer, then you start adding speed endurance.
Yes i like this video , simple and effective!
thanks for the kind words!
Valerie Borzov the Russian sprinter who won gold in the Olympic 100m was spotted by Russian state coaches at age 14. He repeatedly did 100m sprint training but always had a long break between each repitition to avoid anaerobic lactate sprinting . The Russian Sports scientists recommended this form of training to achieve improved sprinting performance.
I love this video. This is the only 400 video I've ever seen that talks about prioritizing speed and not "endurance"
thanks for your kind words! endurance has no place for the 400 IMO
Check out Tony Holler/Feed the Cats also. Pure speed for fast people.
what if I run the 4 and the 8
The 4 is for sprinters. Why would you do 4 and 8
@@LeonEdwardsFitnessOfficial world record 800m time is 50 seconds per lap which is still pretty damn fast, so if your good at both, your coach would probably make you do both for team points.
@@stevespyder it would prevent your progress in the 400. 200/400 makes way more sense.
@@LeonEdwardsFitnessOfficial I run the 4 and 8 I mean if you’re running for a program they try and get you to run and score in as many things as possible
Bolt did steroids, yeah?
fuck u mean
I strongly doubt...look at how he runs with his legs all out and minimal hand swings
🤡🤡🤡
Possibly, but likely very very minimal doses
What is your problem?
how many reps for each set or is it just 3-4 total
3-4 total
thanks for the info
Do you think the 100 or the 200 meter is more technical
both requires lots of attention to the small details but I believe that the 100 demands you to be more precised with every part of the race
The shorter the race the slimmer the margin for error.

We should all take a lesson from a cheetah which doesn't work on endurance/sub max speed training. Heck, cheetah's can only run at top speed for 30 seconds after which they must take a breather and rest.
facts! Great sprinters are cats! - Coach Tony Holler
another thing animals don't do, is warm up. it's not like they are going to tell their prey "hey wait a minute, I need to warm up first". It's a combination of adrenaline and if you watch the way their muscles tremble before they pounce, that's the pre-run activation.
@@TrackHead03 Even a domestic cat can run around 30 MPH. That's faster than Usain Bolt's top speed.
@@stevespyder The irony is the ones I've personally observed doing the most static stretching tend to get injured the most frequently. I rarely do static stretching. I opt for having my body go through the same motions, only at a slower pace. Say for example, before running a 100 meter sprint, I run about 50% top speed for 20 meters followed by 50 meters. Then I run 50 meters at around 80% of my top speed. This is usually enough to get my muscles heated up and activated. So going back to the analogy, while predators may be warming up while slowly running towards and stalking their prey before pursuing them at top speed, they sure aren't doing any static stretching. Another thing I should mention is from youth on up into my early twenties, I never had to warm up and never once did I get a serious leg injury. Heck, I never sprained my ankle once in my entire life. As I've grown older, I've noticed my joints aren't as bouncy as they were when I was younger so I do the warmups I've mentioned previously just in case.
We can only run at top speed for around 3 seconds so honestly 30 is impressive
In many sports, there are lots of old school trainers with about zero knowledge in physiology who are convinced that they're doing the right thing, just because they have been doing it for 20 years.
facts bro. lot of em too prideful bout their knowledge too that they just refuse to believe their ways are outdated. Not generalizing em but its A LOT
I think sub-max speed running will be good for beginners to avoid injuries, but for those physically strong enough that's a waste of effort. The endurance ability for sprinters is not cardiovascular and lactic ones, but simply muscle strength which prevent speed loss when landing.
Facts great video, Speed is king
💯
Interesting vid man... I used to run the 400 when I was a kid. That's def how I trained haha. We had no idea how to train for events like that 30 years ago.
yea bro, old school coaches thought the 400 needed lots of endurance
I think Mo Greene was faster than Coleman.
