Paddy's not wrong about the stance. You need a lower, wider stance in MMA to defend against wrestlers. Thai fighters do stand-up grappling - clinches, throws, etc. - but have no ground skills. Muay Thai is a highly effective stand-up striking art, but every art has its limitations. The "bladed" Western boxing stance, for example, is dangerous if you're fighting a Thai, because one low kick can put you on your ass.

ask any Thai fighter if they'd like to make us dollars fighting in the ufc and most if not all would say hell yeah. they'd change stance and learn grappling defense for it even. problem is that Dana doesn't give a shit about muay thai or this part of the world, so everyone who could, went to One Championship, which does have muay thai events and is pretty geared for south east asians.
