This is awesome work! I have always wondered how my climbing shoes get resoled. I have two questions 1. can i get a resoled pair resoled again in the future (even if it has been previously resoled+rand repaired)? So basically, im interested to know how many rand+resole i can do to a pair of climbing shoes! 2. Moreover, do rand repaired resole shoes have to get rand repair again in the future if the rand didnt get damaged? Thank you so much Pablo!

Do you eye-balling sanding 2 layers of midsole on both boots evenly? or do you taking measurement? I imagine it's pretty hard to adjust the heel midsole and the midsole overall, sanding on both of them evenly.
Measurements
If they are indeed Truman then these are an older version and not how they're made now....
They switched to cork filler from what I know. I've owned Trumans for years and continue to buy them

Craftsman at work. I want a pair. Really nice video. In 1978 I got custom fitted for a pair of Haderer boots in Kitzbuhel Austria. I still have them. Instead of sewing the sole it was pegged with wooden carved dowels. A work of art.

How does one become an apprentice to something like this?
If you live in Canada there's no apprentice programs for shoe repair, unfortunately. You would have to get hired on by a shop owner and soak in as much as you can
Just got a pair of vintage 1980s Red Wings 710 boots at the thrift store for $1. Brown leather moc toe with near mint Vibram lug sole tread. No structural damage or loose binding but the leather parched and needing some love to resurrect them. The toes almost pointed upwards as they were used wet and put away without proper care that parched the leather. Applying about 7 installments Apple brand leather care leather conditioner have accentuated the creosote stains on the inner sides and heels adds some real soul and flavor to these boots. A REAL improvement.
Nothing like a beautiful patina on a pair of Red Wing boots!

Hi Pablo, what color Saphir creme surfine would you recommend to create a nice natural sole edge? I tried the cognac and tobacco cremes, but they had too much orange.
Try neutral cream or "natural"

Absolutely outstanding. My father and I both wore John and Scot McHale shoes. I grew up wearing them as my aunt was John McHale’s secretary. It is sad that the brand is long gone from the London Ontario factory.

Sanding is good but you might want to wear a mask as recent studies have indicated that climbing shoe rubber dust is most likely toxic.
