This works hand in hand with The Big Short - the scene where the banks are delaying the payoff for shorts so they can dump their trash elsewhere.

I can sympathize 100% with Spacey's character. I can't count how many times I've been in C Suite meetings with the CEO, COO, CFO and GC and none of them have any clue THEIR decisions have wrought until someone on my staff pointed it out to me and we presented the side effects of policy they put in place only to have them ream me out for it all going south.

I mostly see him in comedy movies so this was a surprise but a good one. The acting here is so intense. It's incredible. He's a damn good actor alongside other actors (Brad Pitt, Christian Bale, Ryan Gosling & Others). Love the cameos of Margot Robbie & Selena Gomez too. Great movie. Hope nothing like this happens Again.

The irony is that you could compare this situation & the build up to it easily to what lead to & the spectacular failure that was "covid". I remember since 1995 the focus was on dirty bombs & pandemics as the especially along the lines of terrorist threats & rogue nations/ dictators. And as always the governments of the world & the rich & famous did the complete opposite of common sense & in the end knowingly were wrong & no one's ever gone to jail lol.

Throughout the movie Penn Badgley portrays what is it like for people who have imposter syndrome working on Wall Street. He’s scared about getting fired right from the start and once the first round of firing is over, he is trying to find ways to justify his own mind that the money he’s earning for pushing numbers is worth it and he’s not an imposter. In the end when he knows he’s actually getting fired, he’s bawling his eyes out in the bathroom while his boss just asks him if he’s alright without much emotion. Just shows how ruthless finance is and you need to be absolutely ruthless and Paul’s character in the show summed it up well, people berate finance bros but in the end, they have to make themselves believe they are the real deal if they wish to be successful on Wall Street

Another interesting observation: Watch how closely Jared is looking at John and listening while John is telling Peter the nature of his job and why he is the boss....... It's coz Jared is the next CEO after Tuld retires and he KNOWS IT.....he's listening intently as to understand what the future holds for him and what exactly his future role will be as the next CEO..... John is the only person in the room that Jared TRULY respects and considers John his mentor!! Jared already knows he's the CHOSEN ONE and that's why he's not afraid of getting fíred and knows that Sarah will be one getting axéd..... Jared ultimately is responsible for the "PLAN" that Sam, Will and the traders execute in the morning.....the "PLAN" that Tuld asked him to draw..... Indicating further that John has immense trust on Jared's capabilities and expects him to deliver the plan that'll ultimately save the firm from going under!! P.S: If you're interested in the financial markets, you'll never get tired of watching this movie..... truly a MASTERPIECE!!💯

I must say, and you may or may not believe me, but this meeting brings me back to my corporate career because it is so true to form. The CEO personality, the upper mgt reactions, even the young assistant walking into the room and then the CEO entrance, it is SOOO true. What makes it so accurate is the personalities. If you want to work in a Corp environment, watch this 1000 times in particular the analyst and CEO interaction. That's how it is, that's how it feels. Like so many have said already, brilliant and I watch a few times a week.

You have to understand that Jared is not the normal guy here - the usual pattern do not apply to him. Not only is he very high in the firm - he is also able to read and understand the problem right away. Faster as Sam or Will understood it. He is the bridge between the real people in charge (like Tuld) and the people and structures who are running the firm. But the movie also shows good that the reality is not that fixed. There is a deep connection between Sam & Tuld where Jared is not involved. You also see here who is with a high chance the real power behind the firing of Eric Dale. Sam, Will and others on that level have not the power and was surprised. Jared did not knowed it too. But then he looked at Sarah and she was not suprised. So, she knowed and she told no one. So, Jared be the one in the ranks above here and already very high and Tuld for sure not involved (why should he) there are not many people left who has the power to do it. And - even if so - why Sarah did let it happened, it pretty much killed the head and the structure of the risk department - thats a serious thing. So, Jared question to Sarah was more as a question. It was also a "i got you". And in the end she was declared the scape goat by Tuld and for sure this whole thing is related to it. Sarah is shown the whole movie after this like waiting for the big bang because she knowed that now all points to here.
