Film simulation switch is a waste. I use Vivid on my Fujis and rarely change so that switch on the left is useless.

I like the way you can change focal lengths as if they were primes .. and does it have the ability to fix a focal length (lets say 35mm) and each time you turn on the camera appears at this fl?

I go hiking and like macro shots as well as landscapes like valley shots, the 30mm is too tight?

This doesn't change the fact that autofocus on X-T5 still sucks

XT50 price is not reasonable. For a little more you can get the XT5 which is superior.

Hello Tudor, I find this lens has an identity crisis. One moment it offers a beautiful, well-lit portrait and the next moment (yes, in low light), it cannot find the subject or the subject is too waxy-looking or mushy. I don't use it as often now that I'm using manual SLR lenses I've owned (Pre AI, etc.) I also use the 50 f/1.8 which is outstanding mounted on my Zf! But.... sometimes I throw on the 40mm for very casual situations. It seems to have a mind of its own and the autofocus system seems to want to go full steam ahead while the lens is still thinking what it wants to do. Again, it has an identity crisis! I believe I found some work arounds: With this lens you should always refocus when you change aperture, even if you think you've acquired focus. I also avoid opening up below f/5.6. I will leverage the ISO instead. Lastly, I treat it like a manual lens a lot and the low light situation has improved in this case. These are just my workarounds but so far, so good. For street on sunny days, it's fantastic! Still, I prefer the 28mm f/2 or the S line lenses. Eventually Nikon will make another pancake lens but meanwhile, I want to look into Viltrox for that. The major difference between the Z 40mm f2.0 and Nikon’s S-line Z 35mm f1.8 S and Z 50mm f1.8 S is size, weight and price: It’s quite amazing though how much Nikon could shrink the new lens in either category, given that the Z 40mm f2.0 only loses 1/3 of a stop in light gathering. Both S-Line lenses are at least twice as long, heavier, and expensive. Thank you for your videos, as always!

I bought the Nikon 135mm 1.8 Plena. IMO it’s pure perfection! Please review the Plena lens. I’d respect your opinions

Thanks for the review. It is a good lens for street, and renders well. I will soon have the 50mm f1.8 s lens, which is said to be super sharp. Hope that it is not too much to carry -- should be OK. A tad on the large side, but should be worth it for image quality. So far I am enjoying the Z5 camera, with the tilt-only screen, for the street photography. In regard to quick and accurate focusing, I am still more than pleased with the Lumix GX-9. For the fun factor, I take out my Olympus PEN PL-8 now and then. The PL-8 has the Olympus small camera vibe, and the cold feel on metal in hand -- fine little retro camera, and so much less expensive than the new Leica. Now back to the Z 40mm lens... being light and compact, yet rendering decent shots, I find it perfect close-in. I plan to use it along with the 50mm for times I will be standing a bit away.

where should I sign to make every brand (L mount 👉👈) make a smol 40mm f2.

I Love this Lens on my ZF 💯

I tried two of those lenses and I just despised the lens rendering. I was very happy to trade it in for the Nikon 26mm 2.8. Day and night image quality for me at least. But I’m happy you are enjoying it.

I have the x t50 with the 30mm 2.8 micro lens and new 16 to 50 f2.8 as my set up for digital. Absolutely love this camera

DOF is 1.5 for Fujifilm. For example FF 2.8 would be in ASP-C a 1.9 aperture. Therefore no available zoom lenses. To obtain "bokeh" using ASP-C requires a prime lens. Also Z5 is USD 1000 but XT5 is USD 800 more. 😮

How do switch from photo to video? Do you have to go into menu?

ok i jusr subscribed 😁i got the x-t50 even after seeing reviews seemingly trying to gaslight me out of getting one and i love my charcoal gray after being team silver for my old x-t20 and x100v. i never really used the drive dial and i am one of the few who actually like having the film sim dial as the film simulations are what i use the most. i have small hands and the size and weight are perfect for me.

I agree with you, it's a wonderful camera. I have the fuji XH2s and XH2 for sport/wild life/portraits photos and videos and I use the XH2 as my street camera but it's a bit too bigger. So the XT 50 seems perfect. Thanks for all your video. As a french man, I love your english accent 👍😜

I’m glad you’re liking it! I’ve been loving the X-T50 ever since I got it last month, and everything you mentioned I agree with. However, I really like the film simulation dial, and I’ve been using it a whole lot. It really is a great camera. Definitely worth the price of admission.

I got the xt50 a few weeks ago, it is very light and compact, and when paired with a pancake lens it is perfect for travel.

Is this a Nikon page ? I thought it was a Fujifilm Xt 50 page! You can discuss Nikon on a Nikon page! You must be really impressed by the Xt50! I’ve had both Nikon and Sony. And you can wonder Why I changed to Fuji!

Why did you get rid of the Nikon?

Glad you gave this camera a shot. I've had the X-T5 since release date. Because of it's size and weight, I never took it out. I found that I really loved the X-T5 sensor, so I ended up buying the X-T50. First off, I really do love the size, and ergonomics. It has the same sensor as the X-T5, which is awesome for photos. The film dial is honestly really nice because I can switch between different color styles. I never used the ISO dial because all Fujifilm recipes have auto ISO added and it worked well. The best part is that it's so small that I can take it out without feeling like i'm lugging a huge camera with me. I use it more often than my X-T5, which I'll be selling and keeping just the X-T50.

I have had the x-t50 for the last month. So far I love it. I only with they had the screen move like the x-t5. Otherwise it is perfect for my needs. Heavy photography and light video use. I have a vanilla recipe on C7 and I like pairing the film dial with this custom setting.

Wow this might be the big upgrade after my Olympus Em10 Mark IV.. the same size, only a little bit heavier. There's no Olympus 14-150mm equivalent Fuji lens though :(

please compare battery life with the x-t5. i‘m debating right now to buy the x-t50 or x-t5

My use case is different to yours, but I appreciate the 4:3 in camera crop as I need to instantly print jpegs to 8" x 6" instant printer and frame during events the X-T5 lets us tether but is not a big deal to quickly drop a SD card out copy jpegs across and print. I still use an X-T3 as well in the studio (and an X100 VI) as 26MP is more than enough, and focus is fine, but the X100 VI is just special. If one of the X-T3 cameras died (we have 1 X-T5 and 2 X-T3s in our company) and we needed another camera, we'd probably get an X-T50 over another X-T5, knowing image quality is the same, and we have the X-T5 when we need weather sealing or the dual card slots or to tether photos

I've got it to pair with my X-H2. The X-H2 for big and fast lenses and gmre difficult shooting conditions (I ive by rhe sea), X-T50 with the 27mm pancake, the 12mm Zeiss, and probably soon the 56mm 1.4 Sigma. A perfect tool for street and daily use. Same sensor for the 2 cameras, so same workflow, same print possibilities. Homegeneous IQ with the two cameras. Just perfect. With the pancake, the Zeiss and the future 56mm sigma it will fit in a small shoulder leather anonymous camera bag. Fuji did great!
