White Tail Fawns come up to say hello
Two fawns are curious about me filming them. This was 9am in the morning during the heat wave. You can see the flies were really bothering them.

After a deep freeze for several days (-4 F) we made sure the ice was thick enough and finally got to all the trees and brush that had fallen in or grown over the western edge.

Behind the scenes and making of: 15-B dredging the pond.

Here's a behind the scenes video, things like the 15-B won't start, stopping the work to adjust the cameras, dad sunning himself on the tractor, the drone gets in the shot from another camera, the drone gets a wee bit close to the bucket with splashing water, even the local wildlife visiting. About 5% of all video shot is actually used.

Found a short bit with the GoPro mounted on the actual cable! Then we tracked the 15-B up over the hill to the other side of the pond and started clearing the brush with the bucket. A family friend built his own apple press, this is the grinding and pressing of some Cortland apples from his family apple trees. Our orchard isn't quite ripe yet, so we'll press those apples in September. The apples will be used for cider, hard cider and wine.

We moved further along the south side to continue dredging and spreading the silt. Next time my brother will try to mount a GoPro camera to the boom and get some video that way.

When loading dragline I attach drag rope to other end of trailer, a little assist with that makes it a lot less scary goin up ramps.
I ran a Unit with wide pads and a drop deck trailer. I had to do the same thing to help it load or it'd slide off. 24 ton machine and metal to metal acts the same whether wet or dry.
Are you still liking this thing, how has it held up?
We really like it, it has held up well. It's easy to clean.
I sure wish I new how I could get one of those T-shirts with the Dragline on it!!!!!😀🇨🇦

A Go Pro camera is a portable action camera used to capture video from a place that would normally be difficult to mount a camera to. In this case we mounted one on the boom of the 15-B looking down at the bucket.
The only thing wrong here is that you need more seat time.
I’d love to watch a video of someone operating one of these who actually knows what he’s doing!

Don’t hear anything wrong with engine. The dump block is either worn out or needs greased badly. It’s squeaking and can tell there’s too much friction in it. Machine is way out of level. It’s sloped towards the bank. Should be level or sloped a little towards the cut (pond) so you could get more reach. You’re sitting too far from the water while having your turntable sloped away from your cut. It’s not super easy digging a pond with a dragline. You won’t learn it overnight. Keep at it. Safety first! 😎

I ran a 22-B for 4years cleaning ponds. Most aggravating machine I ever ran.

It helps immensely to let the pony run long enough until you feel heat in the diesel head before applying the fuel.

Great little farm cats! I have had 2: D4D and D4E, wide gauge with 24” pads, floats right over the snowdrifts. Try to find a cab, makes plowing warmer. Thanks for the video

It looks to me like the operator isn’t letting out on the drag brake as he’s hoisting the bucket. That will cause it to fight itself. You have to give it some relief as you go up with it.

My grandfather had an excavating business. His first excavator was a Bucyrus Erie 15-B back in 1956, he had a couple of them before getting his first of several 15-H excavators.

Excellent equipment for dredging of residual waste pools, I had a northwest dragline, I bought it with a caterpillar 3408 engine, excellent engine.
Stewart love your equipment may I suggest I repaint them those colors it might be hard may I suggest. Look at rusteloum hammerite green 💚 paint has a texture look and I feel if you could lighten up there Smoke gray I think it be very pretty and there I believe still oil there a hardner it cut the shine down but the paint wears like iron also I was going to say paint the roof on both white using that rubberize trailer coating. My equipment I have my trucks are Hawaiian blue 🔵 with a white band but roof and truck many have no air I painted white and found out they were cooler💨

Dear Steve I love watching that dragline but have a question about crains that pulley short way up the boom if that for when you use a clamshell bucketor a item needed to be steady can you explain it on the left side of the boom
It's called a tagline and it is for clamshell work..
Thank you I always wondered what it was for as most of the time it was on the clamshell bucket or they use the one cable with a hook or holding something
