ahh you’ve made me sm more excited for it!!
September cant come fast enough!!
Nosy comment: are you dominican?
Hahaha siiiii! What was the tell, Im so curious 😂
indelicacy sounds great as an audiobook it just sucks that the audio isn't available in the UK. Those essays are fascinating - lovely format for a wrap-up ❤
Oh, that's so unfortunate! It really is a wonderful audiobook listen, I hope they remedy that soon 😭 And thanks so much! 🥰
It's always such a pleasure to watch your videos and hear your thoughts on books. ❤ I've only read Conversations with Friends from Rooney and I loved the writing style but didn't really like the subject or characters. However I'm really interested in trying Normal People and Intermezzo. Thanks for your honest opinion! 😊
Hi theree! Truly always appreciate when kind people take the time to leave comments like this. Thank you! And ok interesting, cause she does carry some themes over from CWF (especially the monogamy and age gap relationship stuff) but its just brimmmmmming with so many other contemplations. Its stunning, truly. I hope you get on with it when you do pick it up! ☺️🫶🏽
Yay! A vlog!!! I love this for us. 👏🏽Heck…I love this video diary for you and your channel. 🫶🏽I absolutely love Sally’s questions, ideas, and writing style. I adored hearing your thoughts on this book, and I can’t wait to read this one.
Hiii friendddd! Hahaha it is nice to do every once in a while! And omg I owe you a text. Why are we like this 😂 Cant wait for you to pick this one up, I think you might realllly vibe with it
I loooooove Rooney and I love your thoughts ! Thanks for this video. It's always awesome to hear the way you think of things<33
Hiiiii! This is so sweet, thank you so much for watching! ☺️ And I'm right there with you! How lucky are we to be alive while Rooney is right there alongside us doing her thinggg!
Ooo there is a great short story by Billy Ray Belcourt about desire, specifically in a queer relationship and how it’s over time. I’ll leave you with a quote from it “we no longer inhabited a united world of feeling.” - from his collection called coexistence and the story is called Poetry Class. 🤍
*lost over time.
when that hammock RUDELY fought you like that I SCREAMEDDDD i've been constantly hearing that this is a departure from her work, and i can't contain my excitement! from what you've expressed, it sounds like deep character studies, characters that you sit with and i can't wait for that! thank you for this beautiful video <3
the AUDACITY! 😂 And its fascinating because she's Rooney so she's looking at the same themes she's always been interested in, but with soooo much profundity in this one. Cannot wait for you to pick it up!
not MAN DOWN!! 🤣loved hearing all of your thoughts on the new Rooney! You're such a real one for taking us along on this journey!! Made me extra excited to read it
Felt DISRESPECTED by that hammock 😂 You have to read it asap once it comes out so we can discuss IRL!
@@katsfieldnotes you know it!!
Yay! I feel like a lot of booktubers have announced they received the arc but you’re the first one I’ve seen who actually read it and posted a video about it. Thank you! ❤❤❤
To be fair, she's a dense on! Def requires us to put those thinky caps on, but so so worth it. Thank you for watching! ☺️♥️
Oh I’ve been waiting for this one 😍
Eeeeeep! Truly cannot wait for this book to be out in the world 😭
So happy to see new video
Hi friend! 🙋🏽♀️
i’ve never clicked so fast
Hahahah Ebonyyyy 😂♥️♥️
I remember watching a CZcamsr say that Sula was too traumatic and complex but praise A Little Life, immediate unfollow. Just gives me the ick that someone would almost defile her work saying something like that.
Also technically that reviewer is wrong, because although there are no white characters (speaking on Sula), the confrontation of segregation is addressed by being on the top of the bottom and how that happened etc. I like how Toni Morrison manages to paint vivid worlds without explicitly adding all of the key components of racial injustice, its part of why she's who is she.
I commented as I watched the video, thus multiple comments. I'm excited to start Love soon! My favorite so far is Sula, but I did enjoy God Help the Child as well. I still have most of her catalog to get through.
Morrison was never heavy-handed about writing about racial injustice. Especially since to do so it to sort of bend to that outsider gaze, and she did not CARE about that gaze! Definitely part of her power and the magic of her work, I agree. Oooooh I must get to God Help the Child! Her later works I feel are less discussed, so appreciate that lil nudge to move towards it!
“Open marriages are cool”. You lost me at that point.
Totally ok! To each their own :)
We have the same couch!
Hahahahha omg twinsies!!!
I completely forgot about plum I was shocked. Also this situation with Jude I think the “I love you, but don’t like you” idea consumed Sula’s life as she became the town pariah , she assumed Nell would still love her but dislike her like everyone else.
Ooooh, this is an interesting take! I think in the end, that's exactly how Nel felt about her! WOAHHHH SIS. You're onto something!
Throwing sula in the trash is crazy….
TRULY!! 😂
I just stumbled upon your channel today and I appreciate your conversations around the books you’ve read. Subscribed! <3

Im HYPE for it!
What are you favorites from Irish writers? I have a favorite crime novelist who is Irish and I’ve been wanting to read more by Irish authors!!
Oh I have a LIST! I'd say Sally Rooney, Megan Nolan, and Karl Geary are like my top right now. Colin Walsh is a debut writer I'd def keep my eye on, his writing is gorgeous. Ive only read one book by these writers, but they were lovely too -- Anne Enright and Louise Nealon
@@katsfieldnotes THANK YOU SO MUCH! I’m not sure if you’re interested in any crime/mystery novels, but if you are I absolutely adore anything by Tana French. Her writing is *chefs kiss.*
@@mononokke ive heard of French! Ill have to look more into her and see! Mystery novels i feel like im just now getting into! And youre very welcome ☺️♥️
omg what a solid collection of books!! first love sounds incredible and you have me really intrigued about kala now. also love the extra movies and music and stuff you include in these videos!! if you want more of the vibes of the second half of the dederer, i recommend art monsters by lauren elkin!!
I just bought art monsters and am so so eager to give that a start, so very happy you plugged it! Im taking that as divine guidance to start it sooner rather than later!
Great recommendations Kat, thank you and lovely to see another video from you. I agree, I also struggle with visual art unless it’s photography/an artist I really love! Definitely going to be listening to those podcast episodes
Hiiiiii! Thank you so much for watching! Ok this brings me great comfort. Im happy to know Im not the only one (so relate -- if its a fav artist I can marvel at a visual thing for hours! Otherwise ... 😅)
Discovering your channel has been such a joy - you have a really lovely, insightful way of talking about books! Loved Monsters and Liliana's Invincible Summer sounds so good, I can't wait to pick it up x

Hii Kat great to see you in video form 😅 loved the change of scenery. I really enjoy your in-depth perspectives on all things art. Those podcasts sound very intriguing. Thank you for reminding me about Color Me Mine, I’m going to book a session here in LA. El invencible verano de Liliana…no words for the emotions I felt with that book. Put a hold on First love at the library, sounds good! And YES to concerts! Nothing compares to seeing your fave artists live ❤
Such a raw, emotional book I agree! And YES! There is something to seeing that live performance. Idk why ive been underestimating it all this time!

I haven’t heard of Monsters and am very interested to read it because the art v artist convo is constant, especially on booktube. I also want to pick of First Love, thanks for talking about these❤
It such a prevalent convo, I agree! And a fascinating one! And First Love was so tender -- I hope more people pick it up! ☺️
