Replant Your Forest
Forest landowners in Oregon plant approximately 40 million trees every year. But the process of reforestation starts long before seedlings are put in the ground.
Join Dr. Mark Swanson from Oregon State University to cover what you need to know to be ready to plant your new stand of trees. Learn about tree species choices, quantity and site preparation. Also pick up how-to tips for the actual planting process.

A Forest Begins: Timelapse of a Planted Forest

In 2015, the Oregon Forest Resources Institute installed two solar-powered cameras in a working forest in Oregon’s Coast Range. Because of its climate, the region is well-known as an ideal place to grow conifer trees quickly. The hope was to clearly document the speed and vigor of that growth. But it doesn’t occur in days. It takes years. The cameras were installed in recent clearcuts. One docu...

hola vivo en mexico como puedo ir a estudiar en oregon para ser parte de este grupo inportante forestal
Had a hard time finding a tree farm video time lapse thanks for posting this
wow bonny is real cutie huh,
We are using this video to present natural resource career options to 8th grade students. Thank you OSU, OFRI and Lauren Grand for an excellent introduction to forestry.
We love this commercial. Thank you for sharing!
Great job Anya, thanks for sharing your story! Nice trees!!!
Fuck, that's slow! They should have planted 10 year old saplings and sped up the process by a decade! The 10 year old trees were still smaller than a man.
It’s letting it still be natural as a forest, it’s not a farm
The wouldn’t be able to survive in nature being replanted that large
The logistics of what your proposing is impossible.
@@WithOneInTheChamber It is a farm, a monoculture! It doesn't have the diversity that a natural forest would have.
This is awesome! Keep up the amazing work!
what is the software you are using for the analysis?
Did you come here from the Instagram video????
@@lazimation43 No, why?!
Are these GMO trees?
no. this is traditional breeding utilizing and amplifying mother natures natural selection capabilities to select the best trees to encourage the best naturally occuring genes to carry on to future generations
Trees at the seed orchard are crossbred using traditional breeding methods. For more information visit: www.oregon.gov/odf/working/pages/seed.aspx
Oregon forests may be one of the only ecosystems to potentially widely benefit from climate change. Heck it might outlive us at this rate.
Key insights 💰 Mass timber construction can offer cost savings of 4% compared to structural steel, making it an attractive option for building projects. ⏰ Mass timber construction can be completed faster than comparable conventional construction, potentially saving time and speeding up project timelines. 🌱 Mass timber construction can be a sustainable option for areas with poor soil quality, as it is lighter and doesn't require extensive ground improvements. ⚒ Mass timber construction can help streamline the construction process, reducing inefficiencies and delivering projects more efficiently and cost-effectively. 💡 Mass timber construction is gaining popularity due to its sustainability and carbon sequestration benefits, making it a potential game-changer in the construction industry. 🏗 "The mass timber structure is delivered at a manufacturing scale to a tolerance that is on the order of sixteenth of an inch so it truly is industrial furniture that you assemble on-site as a kid apart."
Great video. I'll be starting water science at SCC and it will focus on hydrology alot
the connection: the structural steel lateral frame to the wood beam, will the different expansion and contraction rates (due to temp or humidity) cause cracking in the finishes? drywall, etc.
An interesting video.
I did bachelors degree in aquatic resource conservation in kenya and i need your guidance kindly
What??? There is so much here I don't understand. Why are you using such huge saplings? if you use smaller ones, you can get 2 or 3k in a day. Where is your hi-vis? Why on earth would you ever plant in *rubber boots*? What the actual hell is wrong with those roots? No way those survive. Do they even have plugs? Is no one teaching these people how techniques that aren't gonna to quickly destroy the body? The way that one guy puts his bag on by slinging his bag over his shoulder makes me cringe. What kind of shovels are those? They have neither the ergonomic advantage of d-handles nor are they tall enough to offer any of the advantages of a staff shovel. Literally what
4% savings? Not anymore😂
👍👍👍💓💓💓💞💞💞
I did this back in the 80's. I was in the best shape of my life! I planted about 40,000 trees in the 3 month season.
Can i do a masters degree in hydrology if i have a bachelor in medical lab technology?
Cool. I’m first.
Do you incorporate features into the future forest to give better access and to prevent and mitigate forest fires?
I noticed that all your seedlings are all one species. Is it really that good to create a monoculture?
Would it have been helpful to terrace the land to encourage water conservation before planting the seedlings?
Theses guys are going 👍
Good Job
no comments at all, i dont know why you didnt show us a picture of the particular forests. Kind of the reason people are coming to this video and get disappointed
Nicely presented
Oregon. Heaven on Earth !! 🌈🇺🇸
Environmentalists have had control of the forests since the 1980's and all we get is more extreme fires every year, they blame it all on climate change so they don't have to accept responsibility, whether you are a climate change believer or denyer, it's apparent they aren't managing the forests very well!!!
Yes, that plan put into place the burn don't cut practice, they would much rather see a forest burn and add to climate change than see a natural resource be responsibly maintained!!!
I studied GIS in Nigeria (Obafemi Awolowo University), I have worked in the Congo basin as cartographer for 6 years. I want a job elsewhere. Pls help me
This is very good. Thank for sharing. In fact, I love planting. Please also watch this czcams.com/video/3ZpTTrHqovM/video.html

Man made forest are not good for the environment
They are if they’re done right. Unfortunately most lazy politicians create monocultures
