I’ve been watching a lot of your videos and a lot of other videos of people dying their guitars, because I’m wanting to do a job on a rifle stock , and everybody uses rit dye and acetone, but I feel like you guys have a lot more experience and I’m wanting to bring your guises techniques to the table !
How do I make burgundy with the 5 color kit, what colors are mixed together new to this thanks
No need to feel nervous mate, absolutely loved the video and the colour is just _magnificent_ Much love from the UK! 🇬🇧🇬🇧
That is awesome! Thank you mate! Appreciated more than you know :)
What brand dye do you use?
This was Keda Dye 5 color powder dye kit. Thank you for watching :) #kedadye
Dude, you're an idiot when it comes to describing and explaining things. Perhaps it would be best if you would just record yourself mixing the shit, then doing the shit and then the outcome. Without all your numbskull narrative.
Love this. Rebuilding a hand me down shotgun and making it nice for my future kids and may use this.
That is so amazing to hear! The hand me downs are the most appreciated, at least for me it is. 😉 I am so honored to even be a small part of that tradition... more than you may ever know! 👍Thank you!
Excellent! thx!
Happy I could help out! Thank you for watching.
Thanks
Thank you 😊
Im curious, is there anyone here in the comments that has followed this dudes exact formulas and have come out with the same results ?
Make life easier and grain fill first
I understand that. I honestly wanted the contrast of lights and darks of this Mahogany though. This table was older, and was a true mahogany veneer, so I wanted to see how it turned out, since true #mahogany is rare nowadays. It was a labor of love for sure lol (daughter...no pay hahahahha). I really hope you understand. Thank you for watching! I am so honored with your advice👍The #tablerestoration turned out pretty well, but I am always looking to improve where I can 😀 🙏
what would the recipe be for this one using powder?
Why wouldn’t someone like maple. lol. It’s the nicest wood
Thank you for watching! Always an honor that a super small, hand made operation like mine can help. 😉
your videos are awesome. Just subbed last week and ordered dye from you today.
Thank you fam... I appreciate that. 🙏
What would the measurements be if using the powdered dye
Beautiful color!
Can you add a coat of water-based minwax polyurethane over the lacquer for added durability for a object that will be handled often?
What would this diluted recipe be for the powder dye?
How long do you let it sit before wiping off excess after the first coat?
I don't understand why not get the light right instead of apologizing for poor light? Otherwise, it could have been a more informative video.
I understand your frustration for the dye stain appllication, however, the real finish is when the selaer is applied over the wood dyes for the final wood finish. I hope you understand. Thank you for watching fam 👍
Great story...all trees i grew with are long gone.....👍
Добрый день ,у меня нет возможности купить красители keda ,хочу покрасить кленовый топ гитары ,и покрыть потом нитролаком . Подскажите пожалуйста чем можно заменить эти красители ,Спасибо буду ждать ответа .Удачи
Do u take on do u take on jobs.. I have a steering wheel I want done in a Grey wood grain...
Can I use dyes for exterior stain etc? As in, dye and then top coat with UV and mold protective coat? Or mix in with stains or so you need pigments for that?
Quick question…is there a shimmering/metallic finish?
If you’re interested, you can lighten up the end grain by sealing it with a wash coat(5:1) of clear (blonde) shellac or dewaxed shellac.
Couldn’t do the vid again and turn the light on will you???
Great job i love water based dyes because you can slowly apply thin layers and sand until the heartwood and sapwood blend without going so dark as to cover up the grain. You can create more contrast that way because its actually in the wood itself and not just between the wood and topcoat. Only thing id suggest doing is finishing with tung oil or BLO at least one good solid coat let it dry a few days or up to a week and then add whatever topcoat you want over that. Not only will it help waterproof the wood better than a lacquer or urethane finish by itself but it also will make the grain pop and add chatoyance.
Thankyou for making this!
Happy it helped out :)
Thanks for sharing. Could you convert this recipe to grams???
My Tab A 9 + fits in the cover, but I can't get it to stand up!
Looks amazing thanks for the information.
Thanks for this.
Good job man staining a bow soon any advice for first time?
Amazing...I never would have thought that plain piece of wood would have turned out so beautiful. Thanks!
Here's an idea, why don't YOU start making and selling your recipes to the public. Seems like a lot of work for most DIYers with limited time. I'd buy your products. 😉👍🏼 Just saying. You could be rich if they catch on.
Thos looks SO MUCH BETTER than the Varathane Barn Red stain I just bought. Much DEEPER and richer color. I will have to try your recipe. AWESOME idea here. Make your own stain using deyes. Do they hold up over time though. Say 5 or 10 or 50 years later?
I didn’t see you wipe off excess after first coat. Is it not always nescesary?
I have an 1870s mahogany Eastlake dresser that was dyed a dark magenta, and then shellacked. (I had to remove 3-4 layers of paint to discover this). How would you go about darkening the figure in mahogany with the existing dyed wood as is?
c’mon, say it with me: “shor-soogi-bun”
Shoo-soo-gee ban. That's 'gee', not 'jee'. 🤘
Who else here just to see how to stain a firearm wood furniture?👀
🙋😂🤣😂
Great information, but maybe you could turn down the music so we can hear you more clearly. Otherwise, what an amazing job! The grain looks beautiful and so does the color.
Beautiful thanks for your super well explained videos. What would the recipe be for this one with keda powder dye to get the same deep blue ?
Thanks for the video. What would the equivelant recipe be for the keda powder dies to Get to the same shade of blue?
Thank you for watching! I would say 1/8th tsp to 4-6 oz warm water or 1/8th tsp powder dye to 1 oz warm water and 3-5 oz 91% rubbing alcohol should get you pretty close. You could mix it on the lighter side with 6-8 ounces and add 2nd or even 3rd coat to give more color control based on the wood and the wood prep. If just trying to get a general color similarity, that should be a good starting point. Hope that helps out, and thank you again 👍
Thanks 🙏. What’s the advantage to using Alchohol over only water? And do you have any advice for staining maple without getting blotches?
@TzufFamilyBand blotches are typically produced by the wood itself. When you say, "Blotches" I would need more details. Dying a 5A grade quilt maple causes, "Blotches" (the light and dark contrasts) based on the varied wood densities of the grain, and heartwood which is often the desired look. "Blotches" arent always bad 😉 I need to understand your definition of "Blotching", before I can answer this better.
@@KedaWoodDye thank you. Do you have a measurement in grams for 1/8th tsp of powder?
@@KedaWoodDye thanks for you helpful replies. I’m new to staining wood, so not sure. Someone who taught me to finish wood told me he was never able to get maple to hold a stain without blotching. But he didn’t explain to me what he meant. The maple I’m working with isn’t figured. It’s regular maple
Glad you took the leap and did the test yourself. Thanks for sharing. Beautiful piece.
Thank you for watching 👍
Good job 👍🏻
Thank you! ❤️🤍💙
Hi my friend, where I can buy those springs, I got couple knifes with a broken spring it is hard to find.
Honestly, I am not sure. Would be good to know though. I could use a couple, as well as a couple back ups....just in case 😉
This recipe isn't even remotely accurate with the dye I received this week. It doesn't even result in a vaguely green color much less the color in the video. The blue overwhelms the yellow regardless of the dye ratio or medium dissolved in
What type of wood are you using? How did you prep the wood? That can make a difference as well. If it is a softer wood or heavier sanding, try half of the blue amount, and add small amounts as needed. Hope that helps out.
@@KedaWoodDye you misunderstand. We're not even remotely in the neighborhood. It is a vibrant blue, not even a green hue/tint. I am beginning to think the concentration of the royal blue dye I received in the pack is massively greater than in your pack
@@KedaWoodDye I GOT IT! The yellow doesn't dissolve well if at all in the alcohol! Once I dilluted it with water the green exploded out of solution. I'll bet if I had started at 70% iso instead of 91% this wouldn't have been an issue.
@aidaclarke8444 awesome too hear 😀 Thank you for watching!
