I built a 3D printed brushless DC (BLDC) motor and motor driver circuit. The entire project - the mechanical design, the drive circuit, and the code - was completed in just three days. The motor ended up being surprisingly powerful. This was technically an extra credit project for a college lab class, but I took it far above and beyond the actual requirements.

Take advantage of Atlas VPN's great offer for $1.39 per month: atlasv.pn/Levi This is my most ambitious project yet! I built a desktop CNC mill entirely from steel and aluminum. And it has the power to do some impressive work for such a small package, including cutting steel. Check out PCBWay for custom PCBs and more - www.pcbway.com/ This is the split-ring compound planetary gearset. The Differential Drive - A New Breed of Actuator

3D Printed Cycloidal Actuator
zhlédnutí 511KPřed 3 lety
I have designed yet another cycloidal drive! This one is different, though. Unlike most of my projects, it is strictly 3D printed. No CNC required. The cycloidal mechanism is also "inside-out". The cycloidal discs do not rotate, they only wobble, transmitting rotation to the output. This was also designed to maybe be used in a modular robot arm. It's also a 25:1 gear reduction. The Compound Cycloidal Drive - Something Novel
zhlédnutí 47KPřed 3 lety
This compound cycloidal drive is a novel take on the standard cycloidal gearbox, the focus being on the fact that the entire system exists within one "layer". This design utilizes what is effectively an "inside out" cycloidal drive to act as the shaft of a secondary cycloidal drive. This technique can also be used to easily design compound cycloidal drives with three or more stages. This design...

3D Printed Cycloidal Drive | What They Are, How They Work, and Testing
When one magnet flying off at high speed, then eventually all magnet will be shaked off. Making projectiles like frag grenade.
The motor controller isn't increasing the amps that's just what motors do when they are impeded they draw more amps. The motor controller will limit the maximum amps it can draw so it doesn't go above the motors rating i.e. it does the opposite of what you are saying.
So, you can cut receivers uppers and lowers with this just need the specs??
You changed the way I now think about this
Thank you for your tutorial!! 9:29 For my trying, it didn't work well :( It came out a different line from you.
I got the cycloid right but it crashes into the housing, I don’t think the way to create the housing is correct
i like realizing how little i know about stuff
The best of these use specific planetary mixes from a planetary gear sim that are coherent, a sun gear in the middle of both, and the modulus of both is changed so the planets align, so one planetary modulus is 1 and the other is 1.037 and so the centers of the the planetaries are aligned.
if you remove the gear drive and use micro stepping ,then place the motors and arms at right angles then you should have a X and Y then grbl should work and 0/0 would be page center and gcode should drive the arms to any position within the limits.
🇨🇦/🇺🇲... Why do you say that it is such a horrible design of a motor? Do other designs that have a laminated iron core simply make it more efficient? 🤔
Классная работа!!!!
Great Build! Would you mind sharing the BOM for the electrical parts and the code you used?
Cool project, but a couple of things... Your gear ratio is actually 25:1, not 26:1. (it's (50-52)/50 wrt the motor rotation) In a typical harmonic drive, the flex gear would be the output stage. You actually have a split-ring gear harmonic drive which is a little different. In the case of a split ring gear, the tooth count of the flex gear is actually irrelevant - it is the ratio of the output ring gear to the stator ring gear tooth count that determines the gear ratio. You didn't state it, but your output ring gear appears to have 50 teeth, which is why you get a 25:1 reduciton. If you kept the 52 and 50 tooth ring gears but changed the flex belt to, say, 48 teeth, you would still observe a 25:1 reduction. And if your output ring gear had 52 teeth, it would not rotate at all (regardless of flex belt tooth count, though the flex belt will still rotate).
The aluminium plate will both generate heat and dempen the magnetic field, why not use glass and glye it to that, the threaded rods also needs to be plastic as not as to again dampen the magnetic field, else i really like your design and your overall good conciderations that is a good deal better than all the copy paste endeavours here on youtube, thanks for your good efforts and please make at least one of these guns, you might be able to sell it if it becomes better than all the lackluster chinese kits, it is very cheap to get pcbs made, that and material components collection and a bit of glass work for the cooling plates instead of aluminium and you would have a killer kit you could sell.....why not? I would order a bit here for little denmark for sure!!
pla is literally the plastic that is the most not suited for this....
Is it possible can you share controller circuit
I am gonna wind a coil very similar to this in about a month but a little different, that i would say is scaleable
I'm curious and I only just thought of this has anyone ever tried to replace the capacitor with a spark plug and having it so that the circuit is a AC circuit rather than a DC one
I don't know how I missed this video for so long. This flows with exactly what would help my current project. Am I correct in understanding that the final output ring won't be rotating around a fixed axis. If that's the case, I'm not currently smart enough to figure out how to have it match the perfect circle that is the platform base.
your entire videos are out of focus it's triggering my sort of OCD
everything was good until you used "ounce inches"
Need cad files
Maybe too late to comment but did you think on providing a low-reluctance path for the magnetic circuit? probably a case around the coil to concentrate the magnetic flux on 3 sides of the coil. the inside being the projectile?
Or just fit a spline on the cycloidal equation using fusion360 API. I've almost finished it just a few more hours of debugging left hehe.
You made a cycloidal split ring gearbox, nice! This principle is usually a planetary gearbox design and was invented for compact radar gearboxes
Really great work! One thought that has sort-of been raised by others is to have an output bearing located on the gearbox output before the lever arm. That should remove most of the load perpendicular to the gearbox and hence the deflection and subsequent damage. Looking at all the BLDC gearboxes I've worked with, they all have a final bearing on the output shaft for this purpose.
This oscilloscope has about 4 noise free bits. At full bandwidth the noise is like 5mV. This not by any chance a precission instrument, more like a toy for chlidren.
Custom controller is sick brah. Going to find another video that dives into that. You are a real G
But still no coil gun
A simple diode would stop the negative
Going back
I just know i can get 3x the field strength in a coil wound my way
very cool. Where did you order the metal plates from?

czcams.com/video/PMU9TQUDhow/video.htmlsi=XXzTIfD1CH-KskwS🤔
You have described a Ford ECVT. A gas motor input on one side of a planetary gear set and electric motor input on the other side. A variation of speed between the 2 makes all the gear speeds.
Hi Levi, My son and I love your videos and we would like to export the on shape diagram. Are you willing to make it exportable? Even if you can't make it exportable, I hope that you are having a fantastic week and I hope this comment gets youtube to show this video to more people.
Instead of copper tubes how about copper-jacketed lead like the firearm industry currently uses?
When is the coil gun coming?
Exactly the video i was looking for great information. Not just showing how to do it once but how to do it in the future for other options.
when is next video for your railgun???
methuselah gear ratio drive
Incredible work, this is so cool. I'd love to build this with my kid. Any chance you can share (or sell) the STLs or OnShape model and more detail about the build (coils, schematic, magnet sizes, etc). I love that you shared your cad model but it is "view only".
I am trying to di this for a 20:1 but it isnt working out, the line on the smaller circle doesnt move when the angle is changed
This is very interesting. Will there be an update anytime soon?
You should upload those sounds it made without the music, really beautiful stuff
Nice...so discounting the material strength...the actual vs the real world, it get's approximately 10% of calculated mathematical torque spec multiplication before failure Are the inner gears fixed together...which means due to the offset in manufacture they probably couldn't be manufactured with traditional methods unless the gears themselves had a space between the top/bottom portion with a space between them. Still so very awesome and very spectacular failure
