I saved my money for months to by that set when I was 10 or 11. I payed around $5.oo for it .around 1970 . The most played with toy I owned next to my "fort apache " being second most ...still have most of both sets well into my adult hood .cool seeing this set on UTube

What I find interesting is that these are knock-offs of match box and airfix figures and I own knock-offs of these figures. Side by side you can see the quality of the figure slowly decreasing

I can remember in the 90s you could go to Walmart and one isle was full of army men buckets of different themes. Once I got the dinosaur one and my sister got the western one. I LOVED those buckets and wish I still had them

I had a LOT of those MPC Union Soldiers as a kid. My friends and I used to set them up and have them battle the natives... in outdoor gravel driveways. We would throw rocks at them, our cannon fire I guess you could say. Good Times!!!!!

2 canteens or more was fairly common in the pacific due to the heat and humidity rapidly dehydrating the troops fighting in those areas. The canteen pouch was also commonly used for carrying extra grenades.

I do wonder how many recyclings a lot of these have gone through. Usually its in the touch the minute you pick it up. Looks cool but something feels different. Then i stop wondering about the decade it came out of and im thrusted to my parents front yard again.
