Created by Hironobu Sakaguchi, with character design by Yoshitaka Amano, FF1 was an instant classic that spawned a famous JRPG series of mainline video game entries on the SNES, PS1, PS2, PS3, PS4, and PS5. For anyone wondering why the undeground/ruins music sounds the way it does; Mega Man Legends' soundtrack was composed by the same person who made the music for Resident Evil 1(not Directors Cut), 2, and Dino Crisis 1-2.

    I played it about two months ago, after not playing it since maybe 2006 or so (holy crap, typing that made me feel so old!) It holds up really well when (legally 😅) emulated on modern hardware, especially if you have a hotkey for fast-forward! All the battle and seru animations are awesome, but as an adult with limited time, I can't afford to be playing these old RPGs at original hardware speeds 😂

    The battle system frustratingly close to greatness. As a lifelong Fire Emblem fan it's so easy to see the one thing the game is missing is the ability to move characters to a desired space and attack in a single turn. Moves like flicker or hurricane are not allowed to be utilized fully as is. Good luck getting the enemies lined up for the line attacks! The game could be so much more rewarding if we were allowed to implement more detailed battle strategies by fully positioning character attacks. I just entered the last chapter of FC, and hope this gets fixed in future games.

    There's these old puppet shows i can't get the names of, but i know they're real. One involves a man, a pink furry called kitty, and a small old man hand puppet. i think it's called paul's barn but i can't find anything about it. As for the second one was about a group of 4 small furry hand puppets and a 3d animated fairy, i think it was a Christian show and as for the name, i can't remember that at all. There was also a show about a classroom of 3d animated kids and a human teacher, there was also something called the blame game which they tell you not to play, but then they play it anyway as a game show and not the way they warn us of.

    Legends is one of my all-time favorite video game series. The PS1 was stuffed totally full with bangers, and definitely has one of the greatest libraries of any console ever developed, and even with that, Legends stands near the top, owing to its' immense charm, poise, and effortless confidence in itself as a series of products; It knew exactly what it was, and executed it with total aplomb. I initially had zero interest in the 3DS, but the day that Capcom announced Legends 3, I went and bought one specifically and expressly for it. Capcom cancelling the title shortly after was a source of intense, bitter disappointment the likes of which I hadn't felt since Grandia was passed over for a North American Saturn release. To this day, it still annoys me that it never happened. I'm losing hope too. The cast has aged out of the VA profession, sadly, with one of them being unfortunately deceased. It's a damn shame, as a huge part of Legends' presentation was its' stellar dub. It matched the spirit and delivery of its' Japanese counterpart wonderfully, a rarity in the world of localizations. An interesting aside: The composer for Legends and Legends 2, Makoto Tomozawa, also worked on Resident Evil on the PS1. This is especially evident in the creepy ambient music in several of the sub-gates and ruins that you explore throughout the games.

    Fascinating stuff! I was familiar with Noah's Ark, but not the others. I just published a video where I found out about several more games that I believe are lost. Drives me crazy to think about them just sitting on a disk somewhere...

      Seriously, it's hard to imagine how things can go missing forever in this day and age, but maybe we take preservation for granted nowadays. We just assume that computers are going to preserve information as a matter of course, but it's not the case at all.

    I just started with the franchise last week and am mostly done with Zeiss now. This video is amazing! So helpful as a newcomer. Very well organized and presented. I have been very impressed with the combat, like you say, strategic. I have wiped many fights but I always get them on the 2nd or third max retry and I’ve never had to reload a save! The topic of lost media is really interesting, it's bizarre to me that so much can be lost, specially with the active efforts by people online to keep it from happening. I was thinking the same thing about Genju Soseiki, the fifth one. A lot of people put time into designing those creatures and that world, and now nobody ever gets to see their work. • @Igones
      @Igones Před měsícem

      to be fair, they existed and were palpable. People put work and time into it. It was something and now its lost. You can't loose something you haven't found, but something that someone else had can be lost. The developers had a version of their game, and it was lost.

    • @cristianguanziroli3648
      @cristianguanziroli3648 Před měsícem

      @@Igones you said it yourself. They are lost to the developers. Not to us. For me, one thing is a canceled/unreleased game, other thing is a lost game, like Noah's ark.

    • @gnosis_gaming
      @gnosis_gaming Před měsícem

      It's a fair point, but let's try a different analogy Being able to find something isn't what defines it as being "lost." If an ancient building is destroyed and can't be found by archaeologists, it's lost to them. If Shakespeare wrote a play, then decided not to release it, and now we can't find it, it's lost to readers. It's not clear whether this game is lost just to us or to the "developers". It's possible that it still exists somewhere; it was unreleased, but maybe not deleted.@@cristianguanziroli3648

    • @cristianguanziroli3648
      @cristianguanziroli3648 Před měsícem

      @@gnosis_gaming interesting point. But games are officially released in a date and in format. And theather plays got a premiere and are played and supervised by his writer at first. If they never premiere, are not plays. For another example, a script is not a movie. If a theater script never played in theater is still incomplete. Like an unpublished book. Or an unfinished game.

    • @gnosis_gaming
      @gnosis_gaming Před měsícem

      I think what you're saying is that it can't be lost because there was no physical cartridge; for you, it was never a tangible "something," so we can't say it's lost to "collectors." Nobody's ever going to find it in an old box in someone's attic. From what I can tell, that game was a real thing on a computer, that was pretty finished and playable. I'd be surprised if they simply deleted everything after canceling it. So for me, the game is lost to history (unless someone has access to it). @cristianguanziroli364

    Super interesting topic for a video, and important for games preservation that more people learn about these forgotten oddities. Hopefully some of these games can be found eventually, some times a copy of a seemingly lost game will pop up for sale online and someone dedicated enough will find a way to obtain it and upload its contents online. I remember maybe 10 years back when this very thing happened with Garage The Bad Dream Adventure, a game that was thought to be lost but nowadays is available online, easily accessible via Steam.
