very nice, my only comment , isn't that clutch master a leaker. Maybe a better product is available. Having owned a Spit you always see corrosion under the masters. I saw a GT-6 where the owner had purchased a drip plate mounted under the masters to catch any fluid before it stared to deteriorate the paint and metal body. Just a thought. As a former S-2 owner your restore so far in well done!!!
I didn’t realise they were penne to leaks? What would you suggest as a replacement?
@@Resto.Nation sorry I have no suggestions but if you see any Spits or GT6's close up you will more often than not see corrosion and blistered paint from their masters. I don't know what the issue is my spit was garaged for 20 years before I disposed of it so I never looked into it ..Just a thought. Ask around .I don't want to spread bad information. but I also would hate to see your nice paint get ruined in that area....I just looked at a video on rebuilding the master that the inside where the spring and "plunger" reside tend to get scored which I suspect causes the fluid to pass the seals. then looking at a photo of a spitfire and where the masters reside it makes sense. So if your master is either new or was honed when rebuilt it should be ok ..Just something to keep an eye on I guess
That noise reminded me of my 93' Sport Quattro S2 I had in 2006/7, Stupidly I swapped it for a MK1 MR2. Especially knowing what their worth now.
Having worked on both I would pick the Audi for mechanicals and the aw11 for driving fun…
@@Resto.Nation The Audi was just such a nice car, and quick! the thing spat flames out of the back 😂. The MR2 was fun but it was nowhere near as quick.
@@channex8179 the Audi was also very comfy! I can see why this one was used to go to France so many times!
Great work. All looking good. I'm very curious as to which parts you used for the clutch conversion to hydraulic. Which slave and master cylinders were used, and if it was an easy job and what problems you had, if any. I'm thinking of converting mine from cable. Keep up the good work.
The master and slave were off the shelf moss items. A custom bracket was made from the bell housing with adjustability to change biting point. Will see what it’s like to drive when the car is on the road hopefully shortly… I’ve got a few pics if you want to drop me an email.
@Resto.Nation defo interested in seeing pics. Part numbers as well if possible 😬. I've been looking for your email address, cant find it. May be a bit of old git syndrome, lol. I try to keep up but fail miserably on the odd occasion.
@@user-xh4rn7cf6z what’s your email? I will send some pics over.
What muffler are you using?
One off the shelf from AH spares from memory.
is it a philips or is it a JIS?
I would say JIS. I need to invest in a set of them…
the inner inner sill is made from some seriosuly thick steel its the outer sill and jacking point reinforcements that are a bit....thin
Save yourself 80 quid and just put your hand over the tailpipe with the engine running..and check for leaking....😂
You don’t know what you’re doing, remove my comment like you did the last one, well one less subscriber
"Toyota Power!" love it.
That's a great save! The fact it could crack the sump too just adds to the fun 😁 Im glad it's worked and keeps the mini on the road.
Cheers Jim! Part of me wanted a split gearbox casing too for better viewing but an mot and a summer on the road is better for me 😂.
@Resto.Nation it would have made good footage but you'd have to shout POWER!!!! as you split it😆
@@jimbuilds next time 😂
Does the problem can course the car to overheat?
No, won’t cause overheating
Bmw did a sump repair plug for their f650gs motorbike engine (Rotax) .Same engine in Aprilia Pegaso. Wondered why i stripped sump plug then realised translated torque setting in manual said 60 when it should have been 30.
Haha fair! This didn’t even get near tight before it stripped. Apparently it’s more common than I thought…
18yrs at rover main dealer, hurt my hand so many times "explaining" to the apprentices why they should of used my shortened 15/16 spanner to tighten the plug... then hurt my wrist helicoiling at least one a week [the big drill used to stick + spin your arms around] best thing ever invented, 100% success with that helicoil kit...
Haha apprentices will never listen… This will be be fixed properly with a helicoil when the engine and box come out next 👍🏻

Great video. I noticed that you had a "Colortune" kit. Why didn't you use it to set the correct jet levels?
I’ve not found the colortune to be as good. Each to their own

Defo service
289 or 4.6 Rover
What spray sealant did you use? Looks like the OEM stuff, I've been using gravitex but it doesn't have that sort of finish. Also lol that spider section :D
Good question, it was a long time ago! From memory it would have been done using a shultz type gun and an under body sealer of some sort.
Looks ace! Where did you get the coloured silicone vacuum lines with that little blanking thing on the throttle body?
Thanks, all the vacuum hose is standard 3 or 4mm hose cut to length. You can get silicone caps the same size.
Great, excellent bit of information. I'm sure now we can get the 1275 mini singing a lot sweeter.
Just had my twin HS6 refurbed by someone and I'm putting them back on now. This is so helpful and beautifully explained. Here's hoping I can replicate that! lol
Glad it helped! Good luck 😎
@@Resto.Nation Thanks. One question. I'm connecting mine all up tonight with luck. The choke thing. Do you connect the cable so that the choke lever on the carb is fully open when the choke knob is pulled out fully? or is that a 'how long is a piece of choke cable' question lol
You’ve got it. From memory, it opens in 2 stages, the full pull of the choke lever would fully lower the jet(s)
You deserve more views/subscribers 👊🏽
Appreciated, thanks 👍🏻
Faffing with my P6 TC at the moment, my adjustments screws are ****ed, where did you get those lovely knurled ones with the springs?? I ordered a kit from SU but they sent me the wrong ones.
Contact Burlen direct. They can match the tag on your carbs to the exact model you have and send you what you need.
@@Resto.Nation Cheers, I'll try that.
@@Resto.Nation They sent the wrong ones again. Got the vanilla screws with nuts. 😠
Ohh the adjustable wrench 🤦♂️
Incredible isn’t it! Literally fits everything 😍
When I crank it should it stay at 12 volts consistently or just real quick and then go back down cause that’s what mines doing
Where are you measuring that voltage from?
I just saw one im in Zimbabwe, i hesitating to buy the project cause i might not find the parts .
Use AUTODOC in Germany. They shipped to the uk no problem and parts were really cheap!
can you helpme?? i have a jagura mk2 1967 .34 with 2 carbs su hd6 ..there are leak bottom of the plenum thru the zirks (front)...the levers and nedless are good.....
By zirks do you mean jets? If so maybe the needle and or jet is worn out and not sealing.
Thank you, much appreciated
Hi, enjoyed watching the videos. Working on a '86 Coupe Quattro - what paint are you using on the suspension bits?
Thanks! From memory the silver would have been high temp sprayable engine enamel or high temp silver engine enamel in a tin applied with a brush. Depends what I’ve got available at the time.
Hi would you know what could have happened so yesterday we changed the pump car started run for a minute and now it seems again that the rail gets no fuel and there is no pressure only when I put the diagnostic cable the fb b+ only then there is a little bit of fuel pushed and the car starts for a millisecond 😢
If the pump runs on the diagnostic then it sounds good. Maybe it hit open relay. Have you seen my other video on fault finding the fuel pump and wiring? It’s an earlier video in this playlist
I hope I didn’t break my pump cause when I connected the wires to the pump and battery smoke and a spark came out from the negative side
The new one?!
What current/wire gauge did you use? Have my mig on the lowest with 0.8 and it's still blasting through that thin floor :(
Thanks for this explanation- not same car i'm looking at one for but definitely answered questions that I had
No problem 👍
Thank you!
You're welcome!

Can the throttle bodies stop the car from turning over?? Please any help
I know I sound daft but I'm confused with corsa d 1.4, I turn the key on and just get a click and spanner light flashing on dash
Thanks that was helpful! I have a weird problem with Corsa lights...headlights are on in off position and off in the on position...bulbs are fine. Is there a reset hack for lights? Thanks a mill
Very nice job. Looks great!
Thank you!
Just found your channel and watched all the coupe vids, while i was allegedly working on my '85, 2L JS engined 5 pot. I've had mine for 8 years and only ever seen one other on the road. Have you still got it?
Hiya! Glad you enjoyed them. I sold mine to a friend shortly after it was finished. He’s sorted a few running issues and continues to enjoy it on the road today!
Just building one now. The ass end on mind is rotten like that aswell. Blocked drain plugs and been stood for years
Epic! Where are you in the world?
Great video, another question; your metal fuel pressure and return line look relatively new. Where did you get them or are they custom made?
Thanks, I restored the engine bay to get it to look better. I did a full video on it and it’s in a mk1 mr2 playlist on here. Let me know if you struggle to find it.

I have a 1984 GTE, which I've had from new. At the last MOT I was told to have the headlight reflectors rechromed at the earliest opportunity. I tried one spray can of another brand, which wasn't very good so I removed it with thinners. Strangely some of the original good reflective surface also came off. This got me thinking that they were painted, rather than chrome plated originally.
I think they were silvered from factory not chromed. The go chrome by stardust colours that I used was perfect! And the heat resistant paint for the bulb reflectors held up well too. Well recommended, but not cheap paint.
Fantastic! Getting a corsa c for £150 and its got this exact problem , glad its a nice and easy fix ! Keep up the good work !
howdy just bought a mr2, that havnt ran for 20 years...and thought abt changing the coolent and every fulid before trying to start her up?what would u recommed i do?
Not a bad shout. That way you can get some oil pressure before you fire it up. The fuel tank and pump have a good chance of being a problem too if it’s been stood that long so worth looking into that too. You don’t want to turn the key and drag rubbish into fuel filters, injectors and rail etc. Any problems just shout on here and check the other videos on the other problems that I had with mine…
Кстати,эта "раздражающая" кабельная стяжка заводская ))
All looks very smart and well thought out upgrades. One of the biggest problems with real world use of these cars is ventilation. There’s no exit for cabin fumes, and the Kamm tail seems to hold fumes behind the car which get sucked into the cabin through the tiniest gaps around the tail lights. Unless you use a plastic rear screen with vent holes cut, it’s a problem. All this comes from experience using one as a road and sprint car. It would be great if you could find a solution retaining a glass screen. Venting under the car into the diff area ? Maybe I’m fussy, but on a long run it can leave you with a sick headache.
Appreciate the feedback! What about a roof vent like on the Austin Healey race cars? Or an in cabin fan linked to a 12v supply to circulate and push out unwanted fumes?
The roof vent could look good but you won’t want to mess about with your freshly painted body. I have toyed with the idea of the in cabin extractor fan exiting under the floor. Not yet decided where to cut the hole. May not need a fan if exiting into a low pressure area. Lots of issues to ponder.
@@user-ri9ym1dw1k I will keep you updated on the way it unfolds…

Very cool little car! Firstly sack the old push rod motor off (even though it holds oil better than mine!) A few suggestions: 1.6 mx5 with a turbo - its shorter in height than a 1.8 but not much bigger in length/width to the 1600 thats in it but 30 more brake as it is and theyre peanuts to buy. 4age as you have one and very cool - apparenlty based on the cosworth BDA which used the 1600 block thats in it. Throw an rx8 box on it and off you go. Rotary - you can use a megasquirt to run them. Sack the gauges etc off and run modern smiths so nobody would notice till you fire it up S2000 would be cool but thats a tall engine too. Jaguar 3l v6, cheap and understressed as theyre never revved. Rocketeer do kits to use that engine in mx5s V8 cos v8!
Hands down, the world’s most in depth CZcams reply… from a fellow CZcamsr! I think I would’ve torn between wankel and 4age… but v8 is a hard thing to turn down! But it has already been done in this car… 50 years ago, so far from original 😂. P.s the thought of using smiths gauges appeals a lot #sleeper
@Resto.Nation 😄 I'm like rain man when it comes to this stuff! You've got some good ideas for it already.
