Grow Perfect Seeds with this Secret Ingredient!
Great video. I live in Texas and don't 🤔 think I need baffles cause of the dry heat air climate. I have a small lean shed 10x 12ft. Going to install faced insulation and a radiant barrier. I have 2x6 rafters and insulation is like 2 1/4 inches thick so I will have plenty of air movement behind the insulation and ceiling.
Sounds good! We lived right outside of Houston before we moved up here, and dry is not how I would describe anywhere close to the coast 😅 But if you're in a drier area, I can certainly see where your solution would work great! Fantastic comment and much appreciated - hopefully others in drier climates will find this useful. Appreciate you stopping by 😊
good video i am sure it will be good. lard is so much better than soy . use to be a place in nc that had fried apple pies cooked in lard they were really good. they went to soy oil and they were not fit to eat anymore. take care, be safe and well.
We'll do a video on rendering, but let me tell you - this pork is AMAZING! Thanks so much for stopping in, always a pleasure ☺️
good video and job. i have 3 of the HFT trailers hogs are the worse thing to load never use a electric shock you will never get them loaded. best way is with food. both of you take be safe and well.
Hey there! Yeah, food worked great (for the most part). The HFT has been SO handy! Thanks for stopping by 😊
diesel burning killing bamboo roots
Thanks, but we're trying not to put chemicals in the ground as we aren't 100% sure where we are putting gardens at. When all is said and done, we might go this route in some spots later on. Thanks for stopping by 😊
Exactly what i needed to know
Glad we could help, appreciate you stopping by 😊
Awesome results back for you guys, and I can personally vouch for how well your animals were treated on the farm
We are so pleased! And thank you, we try our best and we keep learning and changing to make their lives even better. Appreciate you, can't wait till you come back up - it would be great to see y'all again!
@@HomesteadFresh once I’m back we will get something set up for processing, at least to run you through the process and make a start on charcuterie
Ooooo.... Charcuterie! Yumm 🤤
Great amount of meat What was the processing fee? God bless🙏♥️🙏
SO much more meat than expected, and the ham roast actually didn't have that much fat - it was amazing! Processing wasn't bad at all: $80 for dispatch then 0.80 a pound (hanging weight).
that is awesome
Thank you! We are so pleased ☺️ I need to get over to your channel - I saw you had a new video up, I'll definitely check it out when I get home 😀
Best eating ever. Brings back memories. 👍🏻
Best pork chops EVER! Many thanks for you stopping by and commenting ☺️
Today! I have a wasp trap filled with only Fanta Pineapple in which came in the 20 ounce size at Dollar General. It is 300 calories per bottle. The wasps won't stay away. I added just small portion of dish soap water. You should see that!
We've heard Fanta a few times, may have to give it a try and do an update video! Are you catching any honey bees in this mix as well? I would hate to lose any of our bees... But if there's that many wasps around, I doubt the bees are even attempting to go near. Thanks for the input 😊
@@HomesteadFresh so far flies, moths, red wasps and a few bald faced hornets. No bees. Not even "carpenter" bees.
Next week I'm going to put Big Red of the 20 ounce bottle also 270 calories per bottle. The idea is that someone says red attracts them more. Okay, we shall test it.
I'm very interested! Let me know - what a neat experiment 😀
I'm convinced that carpenter bees are just too smart 😜
Glad you got them up there. one thing that I have not seen yet on American farms is a good old fashion grassed ramp, makes it a lot easier for loading livestock low angle slope with fence to the sides, that way they are at the height required and the transition to trailer is from the same height and less of a scary thing for them. If the pasture is part of their rotation before the move then they will be used to walking up the ramp.
I've seen some online, and it's something we were thinking about doing, but the way our property is would have taken a bit to get it just right. We're moving them soon and it's something we will try to get right - but we didn't want to wait any longer in these... Feed costs and all: crazy! Good hearing from you, looking forward to seeing you! 😃
You two are AMAZING!
You're too kind - thank you so much ❤️ And thanks for following along 😊
Bamboo is toxic when burned
I love your videos though
It is and we were concerned about this as well,, but when we called about it we were told since we weren't burning huge forest fire amounts that it would be fine. Appreciate your input, it helps others know since we failed to mention it in the video 😊
Thanks so much, and THANK YOU for following along 🙂
Been awhile. How are y’all? Don’t try loading hogs when it’s a full moon. The moon phases create problems.
Hi, yes - we've been busy with tons of little things and life in general, but happy to be back. Thanks so much for continuing along with us 😊 Great info about the full moon - am making a note now!
This Summer I plan to try out Fanta Pineapple, Crush Watermelon, and even Dr Pepper Cherry and Vanilla as bait.
Oh, please update us when you do - we're always on the lookout for new ideas! Really appreciate you stopping by 😊
UPDATE! They love Dr. Pepper Cherry flavor too.
@user-co8uy5rb2s nice! We're going to used all these tips we're getting!!
@@HomesteadFresh at first nothing, but I forced myself to be patient. So far now 6 red wasps total of drowned in it. I plan to experiment with other flavors of it. I chose Dr. Pepper due to its record holding sugar content as well as its "23 flavors". Hey, it seems to work.
@user-co8uy5rb2s 6 or 60 wasps...doesn't matter - even if it's just one, that's one less buzzing around 😅
Hi! I'm in eastern OK right now, but was in the Panhandle of TX last summer. What I found that worked great was to freeze balloons, not water balloons just regular balloons, filled with water to about softball size. Then put them in plastic shoeboxes, in each cage, about a third filled with water. I got the shoeboxes at Walmart for about $1ea in a set of 10 I think. The rabbits laid on them, against them, and drank the water. I put them in at about noon, during my lunch from work, and the water was still relatively cool when I got home in the evening. No fans. Some rabbits would dump that. Those I gave a screw on bowl to. Most didn't after the first day or so. But 104+ heat and they were ok. I have Rex and English Lops. Now, this isn't ideal for using pans though because when they dump them, or go in/out, water ends up filling up the pan. That's an issue I see now with my current setup.
Sounds like a great idea! I can definitely see where that would totally work... being from Texas ourselves, we know how bad the heat can be - and OK isn't much better for heat. I might try this idea out - thanks so much for sharing. Appreciate you stopping by and following along! :)
Could this be a raccoon deterrent if I strap the tape to the top of fence that the raccoons scale to come in the property?
I don't see why not, good idea... Just remember, they are crafty little buggers and may find a way to avoid it. Great question, let know if you do and how it works out for you. Thanks for stopping by and following along ☺️
Do they work in the winter? :)
They absolutely do! We put insulation around the pipes and had also insulated the water container that gravity feeds the waterers, and the sides were down on the shelter as well. Not a single one froze outside of thin sheet of ice on top of the water in their bowls, which we easily just busted loose with our fingers. It was a mild winter this year, but we didn't have any issues last year either. Thanks for stopping by and we're happy to answer any other questions you may have. 😊
We would need 1/2" or smaller ground cloth here. Snakes and I believe they are called martens in PA. Got a snake grabber stick because the larger black snakes and the like keep poisonous snakes away. Plenty other chicken killers on our property almost daily not counting the hawks. lol Never saw a fox on our property in 21 years till we got chickens. Even saw an Ohio badger in 2018. They are not supposed to be this far south and east but they are now!
You've got your hands full... Thank goodness we don't have badgers!! We do have fox and plenty of snakes, but haven't had an issue with these tractors except for once when our Old English Game hen only wanted to roost by the front door and lost her head to a crafty raccoon 😔 Really appreciate you stopping by 😊
What if the roof doesn't overhang? I've got a lofted barn shed that I'll be insulating, I have few ideas for an intake vent but not sure yet
I think vents at each end in the peak may help, or if you have a ridge cap, that may be enough air flow, but I'm not 100% sure. Really appreciate you stopping by and asking, please let us know what direction you go with and how it works out for you. 😊
I dont know about drilling all those holes in the house
It's the same as soffit vents in any house... We did a total of 4 skipped down to the middle and did two, then 4 more at the far end. We covered them with screen (since they don't make soffit screen covers this size or shape) and it has worked out great. I was a bit wary at first as well, but very happy with the results. Appreciate the input and for stopping by 😊
good video and set up that bus was a nasty mess when you got it. yes schools waste a ton of money most of it we don't know about. take care, be safe and well.
Thanks - yes, it was disgusting and we almost just had it hauled away... But happy we cleaned it out and made use of it. Always appreciate you stopping by, take care😊
This is the most uninformative way to hook up a fence. How do you hook it up to the power box. If you are going to do a video show in detail how to do it from start to finish don’t just show a simple hook up. I don’t mean to sound mean but the truth is the truth.
Thanks for the feedback. Our intent was to simply state that poly-tape is a quick and easy temporary option for a donkey - but we may do a follow-up soon when we set his new paddock.
It's as if you can't read the directions that come with the energizer. You must be one of those lazy younger generations.
@@keim3548 appreciate you stopping by, and thank you for replying to the previous post - you obviously understood that we were simply showing the benefits of poly-tape. We do still plan to do a new video showing others how to hook up the energizer, and hope you come back to see. Enjoy your evening!
I’m late to the game here, but how does your stand hold up to the weight of the full tank? I’m wanting to do the same thing here and your design is awesome! I just had concerns about weight long term.
Not late at all! It's holding the weight just great - still holding strong and we haven't had to make any adjustments at all 😃 So glad you stopped by and reached out. Feel free to ask if you have any questions at all 🙂
Awesome! Thanks!
Just me thinking about how I got mad at a tote one day and carried it 50 ft empty on my own...
🤣 I get mad at them all the time 😜
yeeeeee harrrr LOL
😀
Gonna give my loppers a try, if that's not enough I'll go back to the Sawzall I guess but what a pain in the ass that is
Bamboo is such a evil grass - lol We did switch it up, we made an update video showing the last of the bamboo and we explain what really seemed to work for us in the end. I'll link it for you here - hope it helps! Appreciate you stopping by 😊 czcams.com/video/KAgecv-0Vl8/video.html
Genius idea I love this and I will be doing the same thanks
Appreciate it, so glad you like it. They have come in SO handy! And we have used them for growing out ducks, and even to hold in some goat kids when we needed to move some fencing. Thanks for stopping by 😊
I like this guy, he's got a great sense of humor. New subscriber. Thank you.
Thanks! His humor is definitely one of the things that makes me keep him around 😀 Appreciate you!
Only on roof portion?
That's all we put in, just baffles on the ceiling... With the holes on the outside it gives it enough airflow and it's working so well! I make homemade soap which is synonymous with attracting any moisture it can find causing them to be sweaty in a humid environment and I'm pleasantly surprised I haven't had to even hook up my dehumidifier 😃 Really appreciate you stopping by, feel free to ask any questions you have 😊
@@HomesteadFresh Thank you for the VERY FAST reply!
You're very welcome!
Just use a rainwater tank on its side
That would be awesome if we had one! Always on the lookout for rainwater tanks, but they are few and far between (at a decent price). Appreciate you stopping by 😊
Yay. I know how much hard work you have put into this, even the amount of bamboo that was there on my visits was daunting and you had cleared a lot before that. Now ideally a shade loving pasture mix would be ideal to go through and reseed under the canopy you have left, maybe talk to the extension office about species that work well with silvopasture. So happy for you guys.
Thanks! And yes, we're probably going to plant a variety of maples to (eventually) have some nice shade areas. Appreciate you and can't wait to see you again 😃

Thank you both for sharing! Probably saving a lot of us a lot of money and time! I live in North east Georgia. It’s kind of a dry climate, not terribly humid like say Florida. What type of climate is your shed located in? Hopefully if this works for you it’ll work for me too! I’ve seen other ppl use this route some of which lived in Texas which is much hotter than the area I live.
I've lived in FL and TX, and yes - HOT is an understatement. It's not too different here than N GA, we are in the Upstate of SC right at the foothills, so it gets pretty hot and humid, about like N Alabama. Really appreciate you stopping by 😊
good video and job i think almost everybody has HFT buckets i have 7 or 8. chickens will be happy. take care, be safe and well.

I use my freeze dried chopped pickles in tuna salad.
Great idea! Thanks so much for sharing 😊
Yeah I don't have soffits. So it's not possible to drill holes in somthing i don't have for ventilation
Hmmm... I'm sure there has to be a way. I hope someone else that has had that issue can chime in. Can you put vents at each end and drop the ceiling a bit? Nix the baffles and maybe that would give some "attic like" air flow?
