All i can say is for me personally i only run it for short periods when im in my shed and ill be honest i cant remember the last time we ever had a power cut so chances are very slim. For the cost of the parts for these type of units even if i fried the motherboard i reckon i could get it back up running for less than 30 quid so like i say its a chance i take. • @dodgydino62
      @dodgydino62 Před měsícem

      Yes it is the dust extraction....it works quite well when cutting boards that completely cover the insert plate but when just trimming bits off then I get a lot of dust mainly because I havent got extraction on the blade guard. When cutting 45s I have to disable it but I am looking to get some flexible hose so I don't have to disable it and also add a T piece to connect the blade cover.....then it should be a lot better.

    I put mine in a month ago, it runs into the back of the house, so I don't need to have the central heating in all the time. I warm-up at 3.5Hz, run at 2.4Hz. My unit is outside so the clicking is like an old mantle-piece clock, I get used to it. Insulation will save you tons of fuel, no point in wasting the stuff!

  • @tetradb_
    @tetradb_ Před 3 měsíci

    Thanks for making your video series about these, it has helped me understand a few things I was missing. I would like to give back a bit of info where you seem unclear about the air inlets @3:47 There are two air inlets on the heater, one supplies the combustion chamber with air, and the other is for the heated air that warms up the room. The one for the combustion chamber has the black pipe with air filter, and it enters next to the exhaust pipe on the bottom of the unit. The one that supplies the heated air is located at the opposite end of where the hot air comes out, so on the left side as seen in your video. With your current setup in this video, the combustion chamber air inlet is located inside. This means that the combustion chamber is stealing warm air from inside and exhausting it outside, creating a negative pressure in your room. Meanwhile, the heated air is being re-circulated and re-heated as desired separately. This is where I believe you are confusing both air inlets. The small black pipe with the air filter is not supplying the heated output with air at all, it’s just suppling the combustion chamber. With that combustion chamber intake located inside, as I stated it’s not only stealing the heated air you are making, it’s also creating a negative pressure in your room. The problem with having that negative pressure, is cold air gets sucked into the room from every bad seal, hole or cracks that are open to the outside, to counter the negative pressure created inside. This might have several effects depending on how bad those holes are: - * Brings in cold air so you feel a draft * Room takes longer to heat up and reach a stable temperature * Pulls in dust from the outside I would recommend you take the combustion chamber air inlet outside. Cheers

    • @dodgydino62
      @dodgydino62 Před 3 měsíci

      Thanks for your input, Any information is always welcome. I think i did explain my reasons for keeping the inlet indoors, Ive read all the pros and cons and also read about the information you are referring to about creating a negative pressure. I think with my heater being purely for my garage which has no insulation and wont retain heat it works for the minimum time i spend in there.......although if i installed it in my house i would definatley pull the air for the combustion chamber from outside. Again thanks for the information and thanks for watching its much appreciated.

    Stick with home heating Oil only and the odd time add a little Dipetane to the fuel and that helps to keep the carbon down :) inside the burning chamber and in passing we us Dipetane into our trucks and it pays in the long run..

    Hi Deano, I have also just purchased one of these 5kw heaters and set it up in my single garage workshop. Mine is set up to run on kerosene and that combustion intake is ducted outside and air inflow through impeller is inside. Cant say i get anywhere near the results i was hoping for as even after running the unit for about 2 hours on maximum setting my temperature in garage only went up by 4 or 5 deg Celsius. My garage is fully insulated, walls and ceiling with hardly any drafts. How hot is the air coming from one of these supposed to get? With an ambient air temperature inside my garage of about 4 deg celsius I could easily hold my hand in front of it at full speed for a long duration without getting too hot. Id be interested to hear from yourself or others about this as i have nothing to compare it to with it being my first diesel heater.

    • @dodgydino62
      @dodgydino62 Před 4 měsíci

      Not sure what to say really..... the only difference I can see from my setup is my intake is inside the garage rather than out so I'm heating warmer air. My heater gets quite hot so I can't say I'd be able to hold my hand in front of the outlet for too long. Kerosene does tend to burn slightly colder than diesel but there's not much in it It seems at times people do have issues with output being low.... there is a way to increase output in the service menu but its not something I've really messed with.

    • @user-mb7zd5yr7i
      @user-mb7zd5yr7i Před 4 měsíci

      Thanks for your reply. I had it running again today for about 150 minutes and going by the lcd screen, the temperature went up by about 6 degrees Celsius. So started at 4 deg and 150 min later ended up at 10 deg. I reckon it would slowly keep climbing if I ran it longer but I felt I wasn't quite at the stage of wanting to remove my jacket to carry out some work in there. My verdict so far; The heater does work and will make a difference to the air temperature as long as your not in a hurry to do so. I'm hoping someone else reading this will share any advice for upping the fuel delivery rate if this is indeed possible in the hope that more fuel = more heat = warmer workplace.

    • @bobp6742
      @bobp6742 Před 4 měsíci

      One thing you can do is check how efficient your heater is. Burning Kerosene you should get 10.3kw of heat per litre. Run your heater at its max for one hour then measure how much fuel you've burnt in that one hour. So if you've used 500ml then you've roughly pumped out 5kw of heat but if you've used less then the heater isn't burning enough fuel, might have a blockage or a dodgy pump. Obviously it's all based on the kwh your heater is, most of these Chinese heaters are 5kw or 8kw
