Which Omega Speedmaster to buy? (Pro vs Reduced)
I recently got the Explorer II brand new from the AD. The minutes hand had a blob/bent look on the end while the other hands were sharp. I ended up returning it.
Love mine fantastic watch
This is excellent and I was laughing out loud - especially at the reference to slapping a bit of Dulux on the hands!!! :D So yeah I've got a couple of Pogues. One is an Aussie original and the other one is refurbished but with authentic looking parts. Hey yeah so your chrono minute counter hand is way out, and the Chrono seconds hand isn't right and as discussed the time hands were probably painted by Dulux, but as you correctly say- the engine is probably original and the case isn't bad. Remembering that the originals are like 50 + years old and that you can't get original parts I see nothing whatsoever wrong with refurbishing this piece with quality after market parts - especially the hands! You can get decent authentic looking hands now and I think you can even get authentic looking dials now. So why not take that route? At the heart of it you've still got an original 6139 engine and case. After all, when a vintage car is refurbished half a century later- do they use original parts when the car manufacturer has shut up shop decades ago? I think not! They use after market quality parts - and why not? That way the car and the watch gets a new lease of life to be hopefully enjoyed for many years to come. So long as people are honest on ebay that the watch is refurbished (many of them ARE quite straight up about this and good for them?) and not trying to pass off a refurbished watch as an original then I cant see what the problem is. Excellent discussion -thoroughly enjoyed it!
it actually looks very similar to some aged SKX models ive seen on ebay
You buggered it
I purchased this watch nearly a month ago. At first I was concerned about the size however, it fits perfectly. It certainly gets noticed, and has perhaps one of the most beautiful tiles of any Rolex .
Uhhhh......YEAH it's <too big< :) It's an exercise in <we built it because we could<. :) No need forr the watch. No one actually wants a mosnter of a watch on their wrist even if they had a large enough wrist so that the watch doesn't dominate.... And the claimed 40000m depth rating....ummmm....Pointless. NO ONE that own a dive watch actually dives. MOST of us know this. So een the Sea Sweller's claimed 1200m is pointless...heh....bunch of features no one actually uses LOL ~~ :) Never mind you're pay Rolex's inflated pricing....for a PRODUCTION watch (assembly line...nothing <custom< about it...not a product where you can <custom order< features e.g. a Nike running shoe, a <custom< firearm., c new car from a dealership...etc....you're guying a <take it as is--prodcut< for how much? Over $10k USD?? :)) Why? So you can look ridiculous at the coutnry club??
One of the most beautiful watches ever, and defiantly one of the best Rolex watches.
I wear this Cameron as a daily. It’s big and heavy compared to my Reverse Panda and Hulk. For dress wear I wear a bluesy sub.
I have sd 43 which is smaller than all the videos claim ...but never been able to try one on...how is the real world difference. I have avenger seawolf and omega diver chronograph amd the avenger seawolf is definitely bigger on paper than deepsea
No 😂 and it's 14k now.
Brilliant video
2.424 miles
Are these Oris swatches any better in overall quality and finish than the modern-day Orient divers? I mean, they cost seven times more but are they even really a step up if you look at it totally objectively other than resale value or whatever
I like faux rivets!!! (I also like the taper)
The so-called "James Cameron" is not what Cameron himself had on when he went down in the sub..He was wearing the "Black dial" DeepSea which is the greatest Rolex ever made. The blue dial variation to commemorate the dive is tacky in my opinion. The green lettering is horrible.......The BLACK dial DeepSea Sea Dweller is the way to go in 2023. Looks like a Submariner on steroids. It is the Mans Mans Rolex.
I’m lucky enough to own many Rolex and generally prefer medium sized watches and surprisingly, the James Cameron DeepSea D-Blue is one of the most comfortable watches in my collection.
Ever put a rubber strap on it
I have owned the Mk1 D-Blue since 2016. I like it and admire the engineering, but at times it does get heavy and cumbersome. I can’t wear it every day, but it’s part of my rotation and gets maybe 20% wrist time. I’m a largish man and as I lose weight and my wrists get thinner, it might become a bit awkward to wear. Another thing is that I can’t wear it when I travel, especially in Europe or the Americas, due to concerns about watch thefts and muggings. Overall, it’s a great representative of the dive watch phenomenon in my collection, but not a daily wear timepiece.
Currently wearing it as a daily and not issues at all … the new version is comfortable
Boys boys boys, I think you had better make an apology!!!!! Using the term “Flid” tut tut tut. Do some research on what you said and hang your head in shame.
It's not that big it's only 44mm compared to an invicta 70 mm watches
I bought a $1600 Speedy Reduced. I don't regret getting the mini Moonwatch. I have 6.75" wrists , might as well take the win and get more for your money. Bonus is the auto rotor, stop seconds and wear free center seconds chronograph function. Service was $300.
1600 ? where? and 300 too service? where?
I have the 031,can i change the bezel to skx 007 or 009?
This isn’t even a review its 2 guys talking about a watch they know nothing about
That dial is just stunning… it’s the best dial Rolex ever made … I know it’s heavy and tall but man, for that dial and engineering capability… it’s a must even as daily
You can tell the fake straight away, look at the terrible date print!
Ma786sai Dua can get a Mark 3 Ref 136660 2023 DeepSea. But would you definitely agree that the Gen 2 Ref 126660 is the One to pull the trigger on? The fact that 2023 piece doesn’t have the diver extension is what turns me away from the 136660.
Ma786sai Dua fantastic video details. I own 12 Rolex wrist-watches and loved it. Swissarrex makes a super clone Rolex replicas
When I see someone wearing a Doxa I reckon it's a lot more likely that they actually dive than the posers who take off their Subs and Seamasters to do the washing up.
The movements in even the best fakes are poor quality, thinner materials, roughly machined. The case, dial, hands and bracelet are what you see when you look at a watch , and those are what the fakers get 95% right. I’ve put a £300 Top Grade ETA Swiss movement in a good quality replica Submariner case and I’ve had it professionally regulated to meet the COSC standard (out of the case of course). The result is a top quality watch that will last a lifetime. Total cost ? £600 all included. Not ‘genuine’Rolex but an authentic fine quality Swiss watch all the same. For six hundred quid.
Were did you get the fake from and how much
Good talk about the greatest Rolex watch- shame there was a blackout on the vid 😀
Put the hammer to the fake
how not to do!
44mm
It's just the right size
The dial is the bees knees
The dials really put me off of the automatic. So far apart. It wrecks the perfectly proportioned look.
Lay down $220 on a made in china Steeldive w/NH35 movt in it - perfect alignment and outstanding finish in general. Can't say the same for any of my Japan made Seikos, bar my Arnie which is Chinese made with very good (but not perfect) chapter ring/bezel alignment. Won't give Seiko any more $ until they fix (and we all know they can) this issue.
You let a hair on a second hand mate :) awesome job by the way! and what abot day date wheels, maybe coffee them too?
Hey you guys doing a comeback soon?👏👏
Yep it's a monstrosity that looks like it's been designed from looking at the reflection of a regular submariner from the back of a spoon!
hmmmmmmm
Great video guys, helped me out a lot. Was looking at one in a shop here in Kuwait last night, came back to the Hotel to do some research and really glad I didn't buy it on the spot. Subscribed
I saw it instantly. Fake sub bezel numbers were so badly painted I could see it with the naked eye.
Why would you like to add patina, Is it better looking than a new one?
Carito
I own the black dial Deepsea and I love it! Not a fan of the blue/black James Cameron, but to each his own. Thanks for the review!
Had the sd43 and now the deepsea and this baby is way more comfortable than the sd43. Bigger surface area for watch to sit on. Not as concave. Yes the cyclops annoyed me in the end
I tried it on and thought it fit great. My daily beater watch is a Seiko Arnie though... so already used to bigger watches.
There's still a wait list for a bracelet version in Canada Sept 2022, same for the Tudor Black Bay GMT on bracelet.
39mm is 100% the way to go. The reduced proportions are WAY better. People with small wrists wearing a 40mm+ is just terrible. Big brands are starting to realise watches are getting too big and 39mm is and will be the meta soon. I’ve had both and the reduced looks way better and visually matches proportionally.
