my husband is over 6ft tall and most of it is legs, and i'm 5'7 and leggy as well. we're considering an amtrak trip that wouldn't involve any sleeping (12 hours, 8am to 8pm essentially). he's been told we should get a roomette, but considering his habit of accidentally kicking me in the shins, time spent in the observation room, and the fact we will both have our laptops out for most of the journey, i almost feel like coach would be _more_ comfortable. am i being silly and reacting to the price, or does this actually make sense? it seems like the numbers for the legroom would push us towards coach

Most modern 2 engined jets look pretty much the same to me! It's only the 4 engined ones like the B747 and A380 that look different .

Get off the beaten path and find your own way minis the Big amounts of money you spend. Be a maker not a consumer handing over your money... NO LONGER AVAILABLE, as of May 15, 2023, the A380 will no longer fly its current U.S. route from JFK to Singapore Changi Airport via Frankfurt.

Hi Jeb, Love your Amtrak videos. Almost sold on Emeryville to Denver as a short trip from Az to be my 1st attempt at Amtrak. Question: If a person were traveling on a budget and traveling with little more than a carry on size suitcase, is it reasonable to do Coach during day time hours and switch to a roomette as night falls? Is it a pain to switch back n forth?

Not KlAmath. It’s Klamath as in cat. That’s ok - one has to be a west coast native, I guess to cope with all our native place names. I took this train to LA and the third day, rode to Tucson. Lovely trip. Want to do it again.
There are 2 more of these Hawaiian 747’s sitting at Boeing here in Charleston that are almost finished. Should be in the skies in the next few months
Another crucial factor is Silver and Spirit are notorious for delays or flat out cancellations. I was neutral about these budget airlines until one of my flights got cancelled.

Hotel room in Newark, first class seat to Europe followed by another hotel room before the final flight to your destination. You took 3 days to get to your destination - almost no one flies like that.
