- Watch this video to explore all nine of American Airlines’ hubs! In this video, I’ll attempt to fly to all of them as quickly as possible.
We’re calling this aviation marathon “Hub Hopping” and American Airlines is the third airline we’ve tried it with. After unforgettable experiences with United and Delta, it’s time to try the challenge onboard the WORLD’S BIGGEST AIRLINE!
With eight connections, eight airplanes, eight crews, not to mention crowded airspace and - the great equalizer - weather, this is the biggest challenge I’ve taken on, yet!

I also must say the fact that you are always willing to give up a first-class seat just to make up time is amazing. No snobbiness on this channel. Thanks jeb. 💪🏾 💪🏾 💪🏾
Never stop on a Hub Hop!! 🤣
dude does this every week. Hes flown first class more than you can count, and on a flight less than half an hour where the only difference is a fatter seat who could care less about that seat. most people would actually prefer a whole row than a single first class seat
To me, I don't see much benefit of flying 1st class especially on regional flights. The only time I would consider 1st class/Business Class is international. Being cramped for 8-12 hours in economy is worth the upgrade.
It's a can it be done challenge, no not cheating, a wise move.
@@GreenerGrassSo True! 😅
Always like that you acknowledge all the ground workers and behind the scene workers that make it possible to fly
I love the fact the crew chief had the US Airways cap. I’m surprised it wasn’t an America West cap 🤣🤣
Favorite hub gotta be LGA
Yea, I flew US Air once. I was going from Indiana to Amsterdam to be with my then girlfriend, who is now my wife with two kids. It was my second time going over, first was on a United 777 from ORD. This would have been 2002, and my flight route was TOL-PIT-PHI-AMS. It was cheaper than most, and I loved getting on 3 different planes (Embraer... 175?, Boeing 737, Boeing 777). Their service was okay, but I had a 4 hour delay in PHI due to toilets not working. They eventually found another plane.
Cactus 1549 moment
Just to make sure all the hubs are covered, I think once you arrived at LAX you could have hopped on a nonstop LAX-JFK flight! 😜
And gotten a good night’s sleep on the plane too!
LGA is the American hub
@@coordinator3039 they’re both AA hubs
@@jwil4286 But LGA is larger for American. JFK is larger for Delta
JFK is a focus city and has international destinations.
For the Southwest video, looks like they fly to around 13 different cities in California alone...I wonder if you could plan a trip that flies exclusively within California and tries to visit as many of the cities as you can in a day...that would be a fun one for Suzanne to plan out!
JEB PLEASE DO THIS!
Interesting idea. But would it be worth it from Ontario to LAX, Burbank, John Wayne and Long Beach?
Compared to the big 3, that's hub hopping with all skulls(or in this case, hearts) on
THIS IS SUCH A GOOD IDEA
LAX is not a hub to southwest
Great video Jeb! For a Southwest video you could focus on their crew base locations (BWI, ATL, MCO, BNA, MDW, DAL, HOU, DEN, PHX, LAS, LAX, OAK)!
You could do a "how many stops does it take to cross the US on Southwest Airlines" episode. And after Southwest, you can do a Greyhound Bus hopping video. Same thing, without wings.
What about FLL
@@ProfessionalFloridian FLL is not a HUB for AA, MIA is a HUB.
@@ProfessionalFloridian FLL is not a SWA crew bsse
I was just thinking he should do Southwest hub hopping!
Jeb, I usually fly American so I found this video particulary interesting. At 17:21 you captured N905NN, the 737-800 in the retro 60's Astrojet livery, my favorite AA paint scheme. I have not been lucky enough to have that aircraft on any AA flights. I guess I need to fly more often! Great video.
I love what American has done with their retrojets. My personal favorites are the two America West Airlines ones because it was as a kid in Phoenix flying America West when I first discovered my love for aviation, but I love them all!
I flew to SEATAC for Christmas on December 19 from DFW and she was the plane right next to us when we were at the gate in DFW! Never seen that before.
I’ve actually seen a lot of bad reviews about American, so clearly those people just had bad luck.
19:43 "that chicken was terrrible" "I know I hated it, very raw" LOLL
Hub hopping is so back
I think a Southwest "hub" hopper would be great! You could focus on the "secondary" Airports that Southwest uses, like Dallas Love and Chicago Midway. Plus it would give you an excuse to see my home Airport of Denver again!
Alternatively aren’t those Southwest flights that do like 4-5 legs? Maybe one of those?
They may not call them hubs per say, but have several cities that operate as one. DEN, DAL, MDW etc all handel a large volume of connections. Increasingly MCO and are moving their Latin American service to that city to connect the midwest and North East to those routes.
Yes. I am trying to figure out how to get him to Indianapolis. Indy isn't in Southwest's top 10 cities. BUT Southwest is the #2 airline in Indy behind American, so there is definitely a huge Southwest presence at the Indianapolis Airport.
Oakland, Las Vegas, Phoenix, Denver, Dallas-Love, Houston-Hobby, Chicago-Midway, Nashville, Orlando, Baltimore I think I missed a couple.
I fly Southwest exclusively. I would love to see a video about their "hubs". These hub videos are very entertaining!
I think doing in Australia, doing all Qantas hubs would be a good video!
I agree 100%!!!
Southwest doesn't use hubs
@@josephtafur Southwest airlines does not call them hubs but they do have bases of operation and here are the three biggest Dallas Love, Houston Hobby and Chicago Midway.
Awesome hub hopping! Alaska Airlines would also be a fun one being entirely west coast focused.
Looking forward Southwest’s “Focus City Hopping!”
We all know that hub Hopping part 3 is what we all wanted. Next we need Southwest and Alasaka Airlines. #HubHopping
I agree w/ Suzzane. I feel like United has been getting better. LOVE THE VIDS! United hopping was the first video of yours I watched.
Southwest would be DAL, PHX, HOU, MDW, BWI and DEN
And DCA is your favorite? Its so congested. I like PHL.
@@thyagarajannatarajan6234 Don’t forget that San Diego is also a hub for Southwest
When I’ve been flying with united, they’ve gotten worse than 10 years ago for sure, cold bland food and absolutely terrible service in my past 4 flights within 3 years has made me avoid them like the plague
United has been blacklisted ever since they beat up that doctor
@@thyagarajannatarajan6234 I feel like southwest might also include SJC or OAK and SNA given they don't actually have a definition of their hubs
I love how you and Suzanne met at DCA. I had a sweetie who lived in the DC metro area and I used to travel from Arizona to DCA for weekends with her. Almost 20 years later I still have special memories of arriving at DCA, usually on a Delta flight from ATL, and being greeted with a great hug and a kiss and the pleasure of having a wonderful woman on my arm as we took the escalator down to the baggage claim. DCA is a magical airport.
AA Plat Pro here, I get to every AA hub every year, but not all in one day! :) Sounds like a fun Avgeek challenge, love your hub hopping videos and appreciate the effort you put into these.
I absolutely love your hub hopping videos. They are so entertaining.
I love watching these hub-hopping videos. I think it would be really cool to see a video trying to hit every 'hub' in Southwest's network. (I could be mistaken, but I think Southwest calls them domiciles due to crew base locations)
Yes I’d like to see a hub hoping video for Southwest Airlines.
@@michaeljameson8496 yasss
I was just about to ask that!
I think it’s that, but I remember it referred to as a “focus city”
There are like 12 of them. I doubt you can do them all in a single day.
Hey Jeb, I was on both your Charlotte and ORD flight. I wanted to say high but you were in the middle of filming so I decided not to bother. It was nice to have the MIA to ORD gate right next to the CLT to MIA gate. Glad to see the rest of your trip went well. Cheers 🥂
Next time! Sorry we didn’t get to meet!!
Man you can absolutely tell how physically taxing the travel started to get for you once you hit Dallas. We appreciate your dedication sir 🫡
Your Southwest “hub” hopping idea is great! I’d love to see that video!
That sun rise experience is breathtaking. definitely a plus for sure.
Love this vids Jeb!!! An Alaska air hub hopping vid would be awesome and gorgeous views all the way down the west coast! Probably a bit less stressful too!
Jeb, I adore all of your videos! Especially this one... I'm an AA fleet service agent in SAN and have been employed in the AA family for over a decade now, and proud of it. I dream of taking these same adventures as you! I'm also pleased to hear you shouting out all the non-revs. Man have I got some stories for you hahaha
Thanks for all you and Suzanne do!
I gotta say I appreciate the time and effort you put in these videos yet again. Great job.
I appreciate that! Thank you so much for watching and commenting!!
First, United then, Delta, I think??? And now American. Unbelievable. Good job Jeb.👍🏻
Always appreciate your videos Jeb!
Washington National is such a great airport, and the connection to the DC Metro is one of the best airport rail connections in the country, perhaps THE best in the country. Love the new modern interiors too, really feels like an up to date hub.
Phl airport?
Lol..WTF is WRONG with you? I live in DC and NOBODY I know uses Reagan..Most people who live in the DMV - DC/Maryland and Virginia, either go to Dulles or occasionally BWI, because flights are much cheaper than DCA
As a heavy AA flier, I much appreciate the video here. Always love your content.
Love your hub hopping videos....one of the most under-rated aspects of your videos are the phenomenal in air shots of flying into or out of the cities, the scenery and seeing other planes from the air. I really enjoy that part. SR
Wow, thanks!
@@GreenerGrass did you mean to skip Austin?
PHX is the most exhausting connection, every time! My favorite hub is CLT, it is not too humongous and easy to get through, and my son works for AA in the ground crew there, so even if i am not stopping over, i always get a few minutes of family time. This was a great video as always.
Thanks, Jeb, always informative and fun! Whew, what a trip!!
Wow, the approaches into Washington and NYC ... stunning!
right?! I don't see those views whenever I take that route 😅
Regarding jumping on the earlier flight to LGA, I think it's perfectly fine and clever. As Homer Simpson said (S16E20), "I saw my advantage and took it. That's what heroes do."
At some point Jeb has to take on the ultimate challenge. Fly to all 50 states.
Love these series, and this was a great one. Those views into LGA was stunning.
By far my favorite American hub is PHX Sky Harbor. Arizona is my home state, and I love the layout of the airport and the number of destinations American serves from there. Great video Jeb, this one had a lot of stops, so I'm glad you survived.
Sky Harbor ranks as one of my least favorite airports, overall. I've been there many times, but it just doesn't impress me.
I would never give up a first class seat to make up time in economy.
@@v22u Same here. He paid a lot of money for row 26. It probably took him 15 minutes to board the plane, and at least that long to get off the plane. Small seat and no leg room, either. He's lucky he didn't have to sit between to fat people and gate check his bag.
PHX is my least favorite. Been stuck there too many times and lousy food choices.
For Southwest, I think you should sort by routes served. According to SimpleFlying, it looks like these were its top airports and routs as of July 2022: Top airports and Routes:
Denver 86
Chicago Midway 77
Las Vegas 63
Baltimore 69
Dallas Love 62
Phoenix 57
Houston Hobby 59
Nashville 54
Oakland 31
San Diego 25
There's such a drop between Nashville and Oakland that I think that makes the easy cutoff for 8 hubs.
Been waiting for this!! Amazing!!
I recently started following you, but I really like your videos. This would be one thing that I need to do, visiting all the hubs would be great!!! Great videos, thabk you!
Jeb, I love all of your videos. Thank you (and Suzanne) for the time you take and energy you spend in filming, editing, and uploading them. The knowledge you expound on us about flying, flights, airfare, etc., is much appreciated. The education it provides is very much worth it. You basically are presenting video research for those of us who get overwhelmed by the written information on the internet. Again, thank you! Also, your bloopers are a riot as well.
Great video as always! I’m amazed you made it through this many American flights without a serious delay.
He got out of the northeast quickly and did it first. That helped. If he had started in Chicago, then DFW, and points east before making his way to the northeast and then cross country JFK to LAX it would have been delay after delay.
@@JeanClaudeCOCO Agreed. One of the big reasons the Northeast is so challenging is that even when the issue is weather, or maintenance, the congested airspace means there are no shortcuts to be found, and speed restrictions are common to maintain spacing. Same with Florida, actually. It's much easier to make up for delays out west.
Source - I make the flight plans
I love the honesty with how you were feeling. Thank you for sacrificing sanity to bring us great content!
Awesome as always jeb great job. I always wish I could go on one of these hub hopping adventures with you. seems amazing
I agree. I AM entertained and educated. What I don't realize (and maybe others as well) is probably the countless hours you and Suzanne spend on your research. Then, you pit it all together for us to enjoy. Thanks!
Love this series! Please do Alaska Airlines next(I know that it wouldn't be to hard but still fun!) Maybe Southwest, Spirit, Frontier is next.
Keep up the good work Jeb!
26:46: Is that a US Airways logo? Great video as always, Jeb. Thank you for all you guys do, you bring so much joy to so many aviation enthusiasts.
Love these videos. Also love your confidence talking the way you do to the camera in crowds at the airport. I would be too shy
You guys are awesome! Love your original, unique work!
Finally! Can’t wait to see this. Huge fan of the hub hopping series.
From my experiences with the major US airlines, American has to be my favorite. Glad you got to visit my home airport, Phoenix. I hope you enjoyed it (in the short time you spent there anyways 😂)
This is easily one of my favourite series on the channel. Great work! 😊👍
Love the vids
The Credit Card comment had me rolling, it's so true!! 🤣 Love these videos Jeb, even if it does bring about some anxiety for these tight connections. Thanks for all you and Suzanne do!!
Great Video! Love what you do..
Love the videos, the amount of time and effort put in is spectacular. We need to see an Alaska one.. though all the hubs are on the west coast and Alaska.
I always love these hub hopping videos, especially seeing you in airports I've never been in or terminals I've never been in
Thank you for your great videos. I'm curious what you you think about AA CEO said no passengers want the tv screens since they have there own laptop, phones etc. So they took them out on domestic. Dl and UA are adding them. You should have a video about that.
Woah, what a video! Glad that the weather didn't affect you at all and that things worked out. Well done as always!
Enjoying your videos! Good stuff! Please do a video on the comparisons of AA regional partners (Piedmont / Envoy / PSA)
Love these hub hopping videos. Would love to know if people sitting next to you notice you are filming/talking to your phone.
Maybe your next hub hopping will be on Alaska, to be a bit easier (ANC➡️SEA➡️PDX➡️SFO➡️LAX) after this one
Great video as always, Jeb! I’d love to see you do an Alaska Airlines hub hopping video one of these days!
I love all your videos, keep it up and thanks for everything you do.
Absolutely love your hub hopping video series and please try WN "de-facto" hubs. One point of constructive criticism I really wish you would have included JFK as a red eye flight at the end.
Having not been to DCA or LGA in over 30 years, I can’t say how nice they are currently. Phoenix and PHL are the hubs I’ve spent most time in. I like them both because I can get a long walk in without leaving the secure area. I find this very helpful, especially after longer flights.
DCA is like a breeze now, in and out. Once you’ve cleared centralize security you can roam most of the gates. Plus the distances are shorter when disembark to your luggage and then get a train, or Uber. With only a carryon you can get out of the airport in 5-10 mins.
Great to watch Jeb.....thank you.
Great video Jeb. Gotta do the WN one soon. DCA is my favorite airport as well.
It would be super cool if you could visit the Southwest 'hubs' that are the secondary airports in their respective cities (DAL, HOU, MDW, etc)
I am a big fan of your hop hopping videos! I personally feel lucky living near Washington DC. Personally for me, I like Dulles more than Reagan, but Reagan is still a very easy airport, especially since they moved the Security check!
Thank you for another great video!!
Yes yes yes. Another fantastic hub hopping Jeb video. You have inspired me Jeb. I am doing hub hopping on Southwest in Spring 2024. Travel safe 🥰
My nearest airport is a delta hub so I usually fly with them, but the one time I flew American, they were great and stepped up from a failed United flight
The fact that you were willing to give up first class seats for the challenge says a lot about how you care more about giving than getting🙏
crew chief had US Ariways i used to fly them when I was in Navy flew them home from Norfolk, VA ORF connected in Charlotte and then on Jackson MS JAN... loved the morning views of your flights and sun coming up. I always loved flying thru CLT love the rocking chairs and floor to ceiling windows also enjoyed DFW only 1 time i flew American
Yes! Absolutely do a video on Southwest hubs. I really enjoyed watching this one!
I want to see Southwest Airlines hub hopping
💀💀💀
Southwest doesn’t have hubs
I love how you got a splendid shot of N647AW at about 6:09. It’s a little piece of aviation history: originally ordered by Braniff, repurchased and delivered to America West Airlines, then US Airways, and now, American. There aren’t all that many planes of that age still flying and looking that good in passenger service anymore. It is a real testament to the brilliance and reliability of the Airbus A-320 series.
As of now, that plane is currently the oldest in the fleet. It’s cool it was in the video
Didn’t know that it was the oldest, that’s cool.
Those A320s that started with America West Airlines back in the 1990s when they were growing so fast out of Phoenix Sky Harbor have sure had some very impressive service histories.
And even though they’re old, a it’s fantastic that some of those America West airbuses are still around. They’re still quite reliable, plus they’re fully paid off.
Love the series. The videography is awesome and provides excellent examples of what I hope to experience/capture in my upcoming travels to the northeast USA. What equipment are you employing to capture the video?
Jeb, I have been waiting for an American hub-hopping, because it is the airline I fly about 98% of the time; I felt right at home in all these hubs. Great video as always!!
As my dad is a Mechanic at AA for 22 years in Phoenix, he thought it was pretty cool to see you connect through all the hub airports.
Thank you for your hard working, Jeb
Another banger of a video- you are one of my favorite CZcams creators!! Love the sustainability page 🌱
As always you make high quality professional content and with some humor. Was a Pleasure to runnin into you at in DFW a year back.
Lived in Alexandria VA for 12yrs. National Airport approaches coming home always a treat: spectacular!!
Thank you for filming this! I was someone who requested this a while back. American Airlines does have a lot of hubs too.
❤ Jeb love this videos. My personal favorite AA Hub is DFW. live in Dfw area. Keep up the awesome videos
Belated 👋🏻 as you flew into and out of PHX Sky Harbor!
I thought you were going to one or two airports - you have remarkable stamina to hit all the ones you did! Good thing they were direct without changeovers. 😵💫 ✈️ Thanks for taking us along!
Met you on the hotel shuttle after you filmed this! Great video as always and nice chatting with ya. Thanks again for the GreenerGrass pin.
Thanks so much for saying hi! Hope you’re still enjoying Hawaii!!
I find your travel videos very entertaining and informative.
Great videos! I’ve also done AA hub hopping as a non-rev last year. Route I have was DFW-LAX-PHX-MIA-TPA-CLT-PHL-DCA-LGA-ORD-HSV-DFW. Had to do TPA and HSV since no seats were available so need to be creative. Keep up the good videos!
Thanks for sharing.
Nice to see the US hub hopping journey is still going strong Jeb, personally I'd love to see a hub hopping videos of the buddies to the North with Air Canada. Keep doing what your doing!
I hope the mention of sustainability was something you wanted and not in response to people looking to be offended at your travels. Always love your videos!
Great video as always!
Great job as always!
I always enjoy watching your videos.
Just realized I've been to all of these airports but 2 (DC and Miami - Im flying into FLL this week though) either as a final destination or on a layover.
Thanks for all the great videos Jeb and Suzanne!
