A teacher comment on Teaching with Orff suggested that, instead of ladies and gents as roles, you could use rocks and posts. Offering a choice after defining the roles, takes out the unnecessary gendering in the dance. Repair the dance like he does at 1:20 just by asking rocks to raise their hand!

Perhaps something more poetic than "rocks and posts"? So many choices!

Absolutely love this dance! It is a favorite with ALL of my classes (grades 3 - 5) and especially nice during the long winter months! Very accessible to all of the ages I teach and the kids love to beg me for "the bridge dance"....lots of giggling when going under the covered bridge.! Thank you for this wonderful video.

Wonderful!!! Thank you Peter for posting these dances ... yet another great resource to help teach these in school or communities. Sometimes it is hard to visualize the dance even though your written instructions in the manuals are very clear. This is an extremely helpful tool. And what a wonderful group of children you have here!! I have used your method of teaching dance for years with great success. THANK YOU for your dedication to teaching traditional dance. (we miss you in Pepperell)
