This is a place for me to experiment a bit more with my videos. A place for shorts, silent videos, build videos that I didn't think fit on my main channel, and probably other stuff.

I got injured, so I built something different

A while back I had a woodworking injury. I didn't talk about it in any of my regular videos and had been sitting on this project for about a year and a half. Now that I have this channel it seemed like a good opportunity to tell the story.
Thank you and be safe!

That is a lot of work for the special order desk. I hope he appreciates it even though he had to pay for it. Be kind to each other. Stay safe. Love to all
Love what I’m watching. From experienced to novice you do a really great job of showing what needs to be done and how to do it extremely well. 💯 You’re B-Roll shots of gluing up, cutting, sanding, finishing or joining are done really well except if you know what a pair of retro infrareds cost. And how they are coveted, as well as some of the other tires you’re rocking. Some of us IYKYK. 😊 Thank you for the hard work you’ve put into these videos and the pieces. It definitely shows. ✌️
I'd be interested to see what you guys would come up with for bookcases and/or complimenting pieces to these desks. Maybe you have already posted a video like that. Not sure, but great stuff as always! P.S.. I appreciate how you enjoy the design and drafting part of the builds as well, especially the concept artistry. I, (although nowhere near your level), enjoy that part just the same, and keep a book of all my plans and concepts for future look-sies.... Cheers!
Nice build. Shit happens. When we stop thinking... Had my nephew help me on a big door replacement job. Let him cut casing on the chop saw. Briefed him before he started... "If you don't touch the blade, it won't hurt you." "I don't want to call your mom and tell her that you can't count to 10 ." He did good. The more time we spend working with tools, the greater the chance of injury. Me? I've spent years with my skilsaw guard chalked up. No problem. It's respect... I did mitre my left long finger on a table saw doing a free hand tapered rip. Stopped thinking. My fault... Fast food napkin and electrician's tape allowed me to finish the job. Vitamin E and Bourbon helped the healing process.
The gaskets you can get to go around windows and doors that stick on so they soft close would be perfect to go on the part where the stand contacts the guitar, iy wouldn't be overly gordy and likely unnoticeable when the guitar is on it, while protecting the head.
The one made out of yucca, gave me insomnia
Triple-crayon, baby!!! Especially love the piece based on your son's drawing.
Triple crayon 🖍
serious question: Is hanging the guitar from its neck without support under the base a longterm problem?
Triple crayon happiness, I love your colorful projects. ❤
I loved all the projects! Especially the triple crayon technic you used on that last project!
Triple crayon! Nice job. You are an artist, not a craftsman.
I feel for the broken wood with clear epoxy, it might have looked better for the epoxy to be on the bottom of the legs to give an almost floating effect, but that's just my take on it! it looks great as it is now!
That is a really stunning guitar stand mate, Well done!
Nice playing - added a nice ending :) For your question, I would use some metal weights embedded in the bottom of a thinner base.
how often have you used the epoxy without the black addition? seeing the inner edges of the 'bug holes' would have been very neat!
You need to break up your videos. A piece of advice people on the internet have zero patience. 20-30 minutes max’s. That the formula
👍👍 a thin piece of black felt on the hook contact points will soften the neck support 😜
Fu@kupery A state of one having screwed up so very badly through laziness or frivolity that one's resulting future reputation suffers directly from his or her inherent ability to mess up the easiest of actions. -Urban dictionary
Probably not cheap but a bronze plate attached to the base would stop any warping of the wood. Could use some nice brass bolts as well.
Thanks for sharing.
fyi, tuck tape makes great packing tape, when, you run out of actual packing tape, and tape bows on gifts 😉 triple crayon buddy bob! - that last one 😘
Very nice build! I think you could try to make this taper from original version with CNC maybe 🤔
INSOMNIA
Hi, I have been watching this, but I am still able to speak. Just saying.
Interesting watch as usual, triple crayon.
A cholo on easter? Is that what you said? What the hell man
Please don't ask AI to generate jokes. It only encourages it.
You could have skinned off the epoxy with the thickness planer. It would have saved all that sanding.
Thank you for not making me look at the injury. Cool hanger.
Beautiful , love the narration. Brian Erwin NZ
If you want to do that angled bass, maybe you could do another nod to guitar building and embed carbon rods in the base, same as many builders do in guitars. You can get them as square pieces or hollow rods, and they make necks absurdly strong.
Also, tip for enlarging holes by hand without tearout, run your drill backwards. Seems counterintuitive, but I've used this on guitar building for volume pot holes quite a lot.
Triple crayon….The epoxy pin to join two epoxy pieces is really cool…esp how it appears like a “ghost” pin. 👍
Yo can you make a chair I have not seen it
You're a bit of an ass showing those bubbles popping like that, even with the warning. 😂
Gave my thumb a Deep Dip with a chisel one time. DONT CUT TOWARD YOUR HANDS Had to visit doc. They glued but should have stitched. It healed fine. Significant scar.
Someone tried to hoverboard. 😂
THIN FRONT EDGE: I saw that someone else suggested a breadboard, but a *literal* breadboard doesn't seem like it fits your vision here. That said, maybe you can get the *effect* of a breadboard with a strip of metal on the underside of the base? Here's what I'm thinking: take a 2" wide metal plate as long as the width of the thin edge of your base. About 3/8" back from the front edge, cut a series of short slots. (Maybe you can find someone with a waterjet cutter?) Now, since you've already got a big brass rod at the top of the piece, you can reuse that design element along the front edge of the base: use brass pins through the top, with a threaded hole tapped into the bottom of the pins. You can route out a space for the metal plate, run your piece through a drum sander to remove the wood *and* the brass, and then you just need to attach the brass pins to the metal plate. (These pins will also act kind of like the heat-set threaded inserts you can use to connect 3D-printed parts using screws. Maybe call them... pinserts?) You don't seem to mind using bolts and washers to fasten C channel onto the underside of your slabs, so if you don't mind putting some machine screws into those pinserts, you're done. Or, hey, if you want to be extra about it, you've already cut, drilled, and tapped a bunch of brass pins. Maybe make twice as many, then epoxy some threaded rod the end, screw the whole arrangement into the pinserts with a pair of pliers, and then cut the ends flush? IDK, I'm a software developer, not a machinist, so maybe just stick with machine screws... :)
I thought this channel was supposed to be no talking?
Dude !!! Now you can tell people you can build something amazingly beautiful with 1 hand… VERY NICE WORK !!!
I really loved that tune at the end. Is it a known song? Does it have a name or something? Is it available outside of this CZcams video? Like on Spotify or something?
You’ve won the triple crown with your 3 crayon tables. I love how fun your work is. Please keep up the great work.😸
I had a similar accident with a router bit on a finger. End of the day, tired, doing a bunch of repetitive routing for cabinet doors. Just spaced out in my hand placement. Like you it didn't really hurt until later but it sure scared me! To this day I know that I should stop when I'm tired, even if I know I am "almost" done -- turns out you are never "almost" done and can go on too long!
Love the experiment. Love that you shared your injury with us eventually. Love that you've healed up well!
Triple Crayons are best!
Glad your hand is okay! Also liked that you went with the walnut and brass over the yellow cord. Would be cool to do a bent all brass version that you could slip the foam protectors onto!
You could do a composite backing on the bottom of the thin design. The fiberglass would reinforce without adding a ton of weight.
i liked the all black top .. thought it was nice.. looked kinda like polished stone.. any who Whoa!!!! full on tripple crayon maaan!
Would using a drum sander instead of the planer work to get that base taper you were looking for?
