I have received my factory Blythes (yes, there are two) after wanting one ever since they were back on the market in early 2000s, but could never justify the price. My impressions so far - I am in love. Got tanned matte beauties, one with looong wavy dark blonde with ash blonde streaks hair and one with blonde bob. Beautifully made, eye mechanism works fine, my only ick is the factory standard pink eyes, that’s just bad. I’ll replace with something flattering. I am slowly getting them dressed and accessorised, earrings, shoes etc. Overall I didn’t even expect them to look so gorgeous in person. Thank you for your video, I was dying to know what differences between them would be.

I think collectioning is a consumerism hobby and people can fall prey to consumerism simply, and there is a line of moderation that needs to be maintained

I can’t help it. Whenever I find a poor neglected doll and I have to rescue it and fix it up. Then give some away.

I always wanted to find Barbies I had as a child. The husband would always talk me out of it. But when he got really sick which lasted a few years, I found comfort and joy in searching and bidding on eBay and attending a few barbie shows to find these Barbies and then some memories came back of Barbies I forgot I had like the Dawn and Darci dolls. Collecting vintage clothing from the 60's - 70's is also something I still try and find from time to time. But like you said, it became a little obsessive in the beginning but has definitely slowed down. But I love to change their clothing from time to time. I do have 2 display cases, and now my 3 year old granddaughter loves them and it does bring a smile to my face watching her enjoy them as much as I do.🥰

My 23 year old child is upset that I spend so much on dolls when she needs dental work. I sent $2000. for her dental work, skipping getting my own done, and putting off other expenses as well, and I'm somewhat bitter about it as it's put me in debt (which I wouldn't have been without the heavy doll buying). I feel some friction between us now. I think there's some battle over who's the kid here, but I know I have unresolved issues from childhood and I'm desperately trying to work them out. I'll probably never finish doing that. I think buying Barbies though is better than buying liquor, and I noticed my focus shifted from one to the other last summer when I quit drinking. I also have been diagnosed obsessive compulsive personality (let's not call it a disorder), so if I go off Barbies, I'll switch again to something else to obsess over, in my endless drive to find the perfect "solution". There's also the topic of "object constancy". I talk about that in my psychology of doll collecting upload, 'cause I'm thinking about this too.

She’s gorgeous! I love the metallic “copper” lines on her! I’ve thought about buying a smart doll before, but the international shipping and how expensive extra outfits for them are has made it hard to justify to myself. Plus, it seems like the doll versions I like the best keep being out of stock whenever I look at the site.😅

Yes!!!! I’m 25 and I started collecting last year. When I first we started I went spend crazy for any 90’s Barbie’s. I just kept buying for months, until I randomly just switched to the 2000’s 😭 now I don’t even want to look at my 90’s. But I of course still love them very much but I overwhelmed myself with them

I discovered this channel and watched through all of the videos last week. I came away from the experience convinced to buy my first blythe doll. It's supposed to get here on Tuesday. I decided to buy one to customize so it'll be a little bit before the doll is complete. Ugh, it's frustrating how expensive rainbow/shadow high doll clothes can be on their own. The clothes fit creatable world dolls really well, so that's why I look for them. I don't want a collection of naked rainbow high dolls and I would feel bad donating naked dolls.

Hi Juli - love all your dolls - love Scarlett Rose's redress. Simmone is just amazing - I love her hair and her eyechips are beautiful. Divergence is really pretty and all the smart doll owners are killing me - I'm starting to think I should get one but I think if I do it will be a while before I commit to one. :) Love that you got one for your husband - he's going to be so excited!

That's the first Mila I've liked! Her new hair color is perfect. And yes, I've often purchased dolls just to steal their gear. 😅 It's so cool that you can share your collecting with your husband.

Scarlet looks amazing in Mila's outfit 😍 you can wash the outfit in a 50% vinegar solution to set the dye. Mila is one of my favorite dolls, I love what you did with her! Simone looks so good, you did a fabulous job on the matte face. Her nose is so cute. Divergence is gorgeous, and the cyber one is soooo cool. Can't wait to see!

I love to see dioramas. As much as I like the idea of doll houses - and I do actually have a dolls house, I just haven't built it yet - I feel that if you want to photograph your dolls then a diorama is probably more versatile when it comes to arranging furniture and the dolls and for lighting too (not to mention SPACE). I do wonder if any of those jewellery boxes which look like comfy armchairs are used as jewellery boxes at all, I've only ever seen them being used for doll props, I have a blue velvet armchair one which I used with my dolls all the time too, this sofa one looks great and is definitely a great purchase.

Loved seeing your Smartdoll - she looked fabulous and her outfit was stunning too! I have been tempted by them too but not sure I can justify getting one, plus I know that if I got one I would probably end up wanting to get at least one more to be company for the first one... it can be a vicious circle buying new dolls for me as you can imagine! I also really enjoyed seeing your dolls in their hanboks, they all look so special and I love the silhouette that the hanboks give them.
