Awesome Juan!
🥸🎹
This is very nice. Thank you. I've been playing paying for many years and already do this stuff as you demonstrated but HAVE NEVER UNDERSTOOD WHAT THIS WAS. It was all by ear. This helped me to understand this sound and make it easier for me to go to that idea when I play. Muchisimos gracias maestro.
You are very welcome! 🥸🎹

Honestly each one of these drops my jaw, they all sound so good and are so surprising! Incredible information
🙏🥸
Stupid to go back and play the head again.
In Jazz the head is always played at the end.
@@JuanOrtizPiano They played it 3 times. Or I should say pianist played it 3 times It is a profoundly stupid melody. Thanks for the transcription, more fun to see it as you hear it.
@@georgeallan6550 They played it twice at the beginning and twice at the end, which is what we do in Jazz when we play a blues head.
@@JuanOrtizPiano Petersons introduction hints at the head so I count that as another rendering of the head. That's why it was stupid. It was anticlimatical to play the head after the long intro. Bad arrangeing.
@@georgeallan6550 I can just wonder why you keep calling this version "stupid". It's arguably one of the best jazz piano performances of all time. But if you don't like it, you can just move on with your life and listen to something else, while the rest of us enjoy it. Nobody is forcing you to keep coming back.
This is Great. Thank you so much. The Last week i just got Crazy about Red. So Nice to see you Break it down in a Lesson
I got into the Red Garland's rabbit hole a couple of decades ago.... it's a beautiful place to be in. Thanks for watching!
What song is this from?
Hallucinations!
Juan. Bro. Come on these lessons are just TOO GOOD. Ive spent hours over the last few weeks on the same few videos, literally a wealth of knowledge. The exercises are SO good, not only seeing you play, but the sheet music too... These are HUGE building blocks to adding some of the "Greats" vocabulary into our playing. Bro you are AWESOME. Really appreciate you. Literally the best piano tutorials on CZcams, its not even close. Cheers my man :)
Glad you like them, more to come!
What an INCREDIBLE lesson man. Thank you so much for the great content. This is SO helpful. We are on our way to sounding like Red ;)
Thank you for your kind comment, I’m happy to hear that my content is helping you improve! Keep practicing my friend! 🥸🎹
I've been looking for this. I'm considering getting your book, but first I want to try a couple more of those sweet jazz improvisation lines. *sniffs. I'm practicing these a lot!
Just keep pushing Albert! 💪💪💪
it's a great book mr ortiz! may i ask if it comes with the tracks to the exercises. thank you in advance
Thank you! I'm happy you like it. The book comes with 4 QR codes that will take you to videos I created of the entire book so you can practice along. Hope this helps! Best, J

Love the Dorian voicings! What kind of keyboard are you using? Its a Korg i think but thats all i know
Dorian for the win, thank you! Yes! It's a Korg SV
Note salad
Lots of protein in this salad though 🎹💪🥸
@@JuanOrtizPiano Yeah it’s pretty cool and well presented. But as a really busy guitar hack I’m struggling with the sight reading. 😫
Very good, thanks! I´m wondering though, in the first exercise in B (1:49): up to the fifth would be F# i guess, not F?
Thank you! If you think in Major triads yeah, it would be F#, but for this exercise I'm using in the Diatonic Triads from C Major. Hope this helps!
Wow, fuck hanon this is the stuff people should be practicing!
Thank you!! 🙏 (I still practice Hanon though 😊🎹)
When you play it slow, why do you play the c and the b natural with the thumb? Its unnecessarily complicated, just play from Eb on with the 4th finger, you do it in the original tempo too. Why show it slow to make it comprehensible yet it's worse?😂
You could have transcribed and memorized a whole new melody in the time you spent writing this message 😂 This is not classical music, fingering sometimes differs. You don’t think it’s the most convenient? That’s fine, figure out a better way for you and move on.
@@JuanOrtizPiano YoU cOuLdVe TrAnScRi- shut the fuck up. If you really think fingering is only important in classical music, then you're really lost, mate...🤡 I bet you've never touched the C with 2nd finger nor a woman, have you? Why do I even care? I'll tell you why. I was looking for lines from that specific Solo and came across yours and frankly I was a little upset that your fingering was so off... if you upload this video for showcase purposes, just do it right man.
If you get upset at someone using fingering that doesn’t align with your personal choice, you have bigger problems to solve. 😂

On green dolphin street?
Yes!
Muy buenos ejercicios!los he estado aplicando en arreglos mios de Jazz y quedan muy bien!
🥸🎹
Muy buenos licks!
🥸🎹
Sin importancia,,
😂
I have been fallowing your music but none of them has explanation , to be a good tutorial need some detail, need to do it better,
If you think you can do it better, why don’t do that instead of complaining about other people’s work? 😂
¡Grandísimo, Gracias! Mucho que aprender y poner en práctica...🥰
Tu si que eres un grande!
Great advise, Juan! Thank you for the inspiration.
You are very welcome! 🥸🎹
Big THANKS, great inspirational tips!
You are very welcome! 🥸🎹
Thanks!!!!!!!!!
You are very welcome!
Does anyone know what the tune at 8:48 is?
It's C Jam Blues! From the recording named "Groovy"
Learning these licks could be the key for the blues? I always figured out a theory for learning blues or jazz on piano, but I realized, if I learn licks, I absorb the mindset of the jazz musicians. Am I right?
Both licks and theory are important for a balanced development (this is teacher me). Learning licks from Oscar Peterson that will make you happy 😊
Man, I’m hooked with your channel!
Happy to hear that Oscar! I hope it helps you get closer to your musical goals 🎹
Absolutely!
わお!ありがとう

Killer!
It could have been easier to learn if there are chord notations too. Otherwise arrangement is very nice.❤
I respectfully disagree, but thank you for your comment!
This book is going to be my next investment!
Nothing like a dictionary if you want to learn new words 🥸🎹
Super!
Beautiful sound ❤
Thank you!
Nice!
What record is this from? Sounds nice
Thank you! It’s from “This I dig of you”, by Hank Mobley
Just bought the music sheet. Got 2 weeks to learn before my siblings bday. Hopefully will be able to play accurately. Love the arrangement.❤❤❤
Thank you so much! I hope you enjoy it :) 🥸🎹
Great advice, Juan. Thanks!
🥸🎹
Fantastic!!! Thank you for sharing these!!!
You are very welcome!
