Colleen Swindoll Thompson, daughter of beloved Pastor Chuck Swindoll, is the Founder and Director of Reframing Ministries, a ministry that provides strength for today and hope for tomorrow for caregivers and their families. Colleen's life experience has given her a desire and an ability to help caregivers and those dealing with painful life trials. Reframing provides resources that help individuals and caregivers reframe their circumstances and shift their perspective.
Colleen says, "The Reframing process is essentially changing the language of your life ... the worst things that I thought were awful are actually seeds that have been so deep in the soil that God's slowly been nurturing over time ... and they're going to start blooming."
Where are your seeds of pain in life? And how can we come alongside you in your journey?
Please connect with us! We'd love to hear your story and walk through life with you.

MY confusion, however…….Job ended up having MORE children, yes, but HOW DO YOU GET OVER…… LOSING THE FIRST 10 KIDS ? How do you RECOVER from THAT ?
MY long ago memories are of two men. Pastor Chuck Swindoll and Pastor Chuck Smith. I listened to each on my radio every day. I was a baby Christian at the time….some..47 years ago, and ate it all up like a starving puppy. Those were the days. And my foundation is FIRM, in part to the two of these men plus my own pastor.❤️
Thank you for sharing thoughts and feelings and experiences that match what I'm going through. My husband of 33 years died suddenly one year ago. It's helpful to hear this.
I can’t imagine how this past year has been for you. I pray you continue to find comfort from those who understand your season of such unimaginable grief. - Colleen
Thank you so much for your life and the story of Jesus Christ in your life. You have been an inspiration and influence to serve Jesus. I have still with me until now your book Intimacy with the Almighty. I learned a lot by God’s grace through this book, I dwell on the truth that my integrity is borrowed integrity because of what Jesus Christ has done in my behalf, I abide with Jesus Christ my true Friend. Thank you so Chuck for your honesty and love for Jesus Christ, blessings to you and your family from the Philippines 🇵🇭
Praise God for your faithful commitment to Him and to live a life of integrity. And yes, because of HIS sacrificial grace, we have life in abundance. - Colleen

My concern is that the Hope and Healing Institute is affiliated with an Episcopal church. That gives me pause in considering their services. My impress is that the Episcopal church allows some unbiblical practices.
I can't wait to get his new book!
Colleen, you and Max Lucado are a good team for helping us with anxiety. The anxiety I have is caused by Hyperaldosteronism an excess of the hormone aldosterone secreted because of the small non cancerous tumors on my adrenal glands. I feel peace listening to you both. Thank you! I have read many, many books written by Max Lucado. I love his picturesque writing! 🙏💕
Max is a wonderfully wise and gentle soul. I’m so sorry for the anxiety you contend with in this life; how encouraging it is to know your final heavenly home -PARADISE as Max stated- will provide full healing and eternal rest! Great to hear from you. - Colleen
I agree that we need to find the root cause…go to Christ for His peace. But honestly I have had numerous circumstances (physical) when I’m waiting for a surgery that will be extremely painful & long recovery, or getting injections in my r eye. I plead for His peace and sometimes I do receive it and other times I do not. God created us with the fight, flight, freeze mechanisms for times of danger. Now I can see where society now jumps into fight, flight or freeze in circumstances so frequently that it turns into panic attacks, etc. my point is that I still pray to my Rock and Redeemer in every circumstance but I am not always relieved of some fear and sometimes I am. I have come to the conclusion that as long as I bring my situation to Him and I do my best with my therapy coping skills I’ve learned, I just now view my fear as “just being there for a time”. I’d like to hear your comments.
Your comment couldn’t have come at a better time. Like you, requests for peace, healing, relief, fear, and more continue to be what I pray. My son is currently enduring ANOTHER 72 hour EEG and other brain studies; he will be 27 this month. On a human level, his challenges have grown, not lessened. And my physical pain . . . it’s continued. We are not always relieved of hardships on this side of heaven, yet I love Paul’s words which reinforce the longing for heaven when all will be made new and right. I pray you are given endurance, undeniable Holy Spirit comfort, and the continued ability to see beyond today’s troubles. Always persisting in prayer, we trust and lift one another to Jesus who also endured for a greater purpose. Thank you for reaching out. - Colleen
Amen!!🙏
How refreshing to hear this man of God's testimony. Your story is so encouraging to me. If only you knew. I can relate to so much of what you shared, though the details are so different. Thank you!
Your words mean so much! Just as we are promised in 2 Corinthians chapter 1 . . . from the comfort we have been given through the Holy Spirit, we are then able to comfort others. May your life, like my dad’s, continue to be a soul comfort to others. - Colleen
❤❤❤
❤this is so helpful! Thank you!
100 Percent. Everything you said. I tried to join a grief recovery group at a megachurch in town while going through a divorce I never saw coming, (after 30 years of marriage.). I was told no; that divorce didn’t count. Needless to say, ten years later the same mega church is now well known for being yet another heretical prosperity gospel cesspool. Still. The rejection was devastating at the time. Thank God alone, I can laugh about it now.
I am so sorry to hear how you were devastated and wounded during your divorce season. It’s thoroughly shocking to experience the betrayal that comes from those you have trusted in your greatest time of need. Yet, to hear you have worked through a healing process is the only choice that sets you free. I pray you are now being used by Jesus to be that needed comfort. So encouraging to hear from you! - Colleen

You mentioned all those troubles, sicknesses and I know they do exist. But did not the LORD JESUS CHRIST said, if you believe, you will do greater than what the disciples witnessed, done by the LORD JESUS CHRIST. Peace!
My favorite instrument used of GOD in this world! Chuck Swindoll, with all my heart I thank you!
What an honor to hear, thank you! - Colleen
I had a similar upbringing. My mom suffered with severe headaches, so felt neglected, but I was fortunate to have a grandmother who gave me lots of attention
Grandparents are often used in mighty and significant ways . . . so thankful she was present for you! - Colleen
My heart is so happy, I loved what Pastor has shared over the years. The WORD of GOD saved my life, literally. The sermos was real and convicted me all the way to the core. In JESUS MIGHTY NAME! Thanks for real hope! Pastor Chuck Swindoll ❤❤❤
Praise Jesus who knew exactly what you needed in your times of need over the years. It’s such a blessing to know my dad was a voice of authenticity and hope in your life. May you continue to be blessed through this ministry. - Colleen
This is Such a Beautiful Story!!!!❤️❤️❤️
Isn’t it comforting to know God has a grand plan for each of us . . . to use all that we experience for His honor if we are open to walking with Him and remaining surrendered to Him. Great to hear from you. - Colleen
God has rewarded you with everything that your earthly parents did not. God is your loving Father!
While He doesn’t promise to remove pain; He DOES promise to reward those who walk closely and trust in Him. Thanks for connecting. - Colleen
Thank you for being authentic about your struggles with anxiety…as a Christian…follower of Jesus Christ. Thank you for embracing that struggle and dealing with it…. Take away: I am reminded that I need to ask the Lord to please use me, and what I experienced in my life, to encourage others. Thank you for your ministry and encouragement. ❤
One of Chucks books 2 steps forward 3steps back My first 20+ years as a Christian was just that Now second 20+ years I learned of sanctification Second half of my journey has been much better
I still love and trust our Lord and savior, despite the corruptness in people once trusted, they will answer to God one day abusing there power, to vulnerable one day, I still trust in the Lord, and in our Lord and savior, but not corrupt untrustworthy people we were supposed to trust with things such as housing, ECT. Pray for our enemies that do wrong to the wrong people! Or the nasty people that get a kick out of heartaches, pray for sad mean souls like that, the lost
The Evans and Shirer families are two of the most prayerful and faithful families I have ever met. You are spot on . . . prayer is a most powerful tool as we walk with Jesus through life. - Colleen
Buy the book! It is a great read.. She is a lady I believe who has a critical huge message for the American church. She has been through the fire and she and her husband have navigated this journey with a grace that shows God’s mercy and faithfulness.
SO MANY “AMEN’S”!!!!! Carol and Gene are absolutely incredible people! I will send this along to her as well. - Colleen
Many of the sick get something from being sick. There is a responsibility in being well. You can no longer blame others for not helping.
I have ❤ loved and respected Pastor Swindoll for as long as I can remember. Such sound preaching. Such sound insights. Such profound humility. Thank you, thank you!!!!
This interview has touched my heart so deeply, I am ever grateful for the way the Lord used his humility to help him through to be used for His glory. My life was not in anyway as challenging as his but I know of the validation of my choral director seeing in me something I never knew would bloom into opportunities to study abroad, attend the Peabody Preparatory school as a teenager and become a Fulbright Scholar. All because of her my music teacher seeing in me what I never knew was there. My home church and childhood pastor all were brooks in the way to becoming a Music Educator for 39 years, serving in music at my church and passing that love of music to thousands of students . So thankful that God is the one who places people in our lives to help us come to know Jesus and build relationships that are empowering and encouraging us to serve the Lord!
Connor is so fortunate to have a man of God for his father. Pastor Craig is filled with wisdom. I tell people all the time that miracles do happen. PTL❣🙏🫂 Is there another opportunity for Pastor Craig to give an update later on as time goes by?
This is an amazing interview. Colleen, you did an absolutely wonderful job of allowing your dad to talk and interjecting when you needed to. Good interviewing is a lost art. Well done. And to your dad, who I have listened to for 40 years, whose books I have read, who’s sermons and words have changed my life-I can only say that I admire him even more if that’s possible. He was the original Harry Potter in his youth. And then he became a modern day Mary Poppins as president of the theological seminary. He not only opened every window. He blew the doors off! I love this man!! I am so grateful that I will be able to spend eternity with both of you. May God richly bless your family!
I’m 80 years old and started listening to Chuck Swindoll many years ago on the radio. He has blessed me so much. I truly have enjoyed listening to his life story. I have cried, laughed and amazed at such a wonderful man of God. What an example of humility!
I miss WOF. I loved these ladies.
Charles lived the kind of life I did. My mom said" Brenda, you're not even supposed to be here!! And you were the ugliest ɓaby!" I understand. But ai knew and loved them. I watched them. They took me to church, right out of the chute! All 5 of us!!! They were believers, though.
I started listening to Chuck 35 years ago when I was a truck driver. When you haul for a living, one of the perks is being able to listen to the radio all day and night.
The BEST PERKS EVER!!!!
I was able in the 70's to be able to listen to the radio all day while listening to Chuck Swindoll, and many other Godly Preachers while raising my girls!!! We were so very poor. But I had God,so I was rich beyond gold!!! My girls and their friends and their friend's friends and their neighbor's kids and their friends were running all over the house and in the yard. All the while, the Gospel of God was streaming into their little ears, and my dear Christian neighbor and me were having regular prayer as all that was going on. Sometime we would run into a kid while we were walking through the house praying and praising and declaring God's power over those kids and our husband's who weren't believers. Best times of our lives!!! I love Jesus He is my friend, and my LOVE!!! I NEVER WENT TO COLLEGE. ONLY A HIGH SCHOOL GRAD. My husband, too!!! But I had/ HAVE the Creator as my FATHER!! I AM SO THANKFUL!!!!
His life and witness for Jesus - such an inspiration and a reason to hope!
SO MUCH HOPE offered. Great to hear from you! - Colleen
I always felt that Pastor Chuck taught the Word with incredible sensitivity and his words were always so encouraging~! I listened to his radio messages in the 1980s and 1990s daily and read many of his books. His kindness was evident and I always came away convinced that his message was laced with this purpose: "...that their hearts might be comforted, being knit together in love, and unto all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the acknowledgement of the mystery of God, and of the Father, and of Christ; in whom are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. " I never knew the things that he went through as a child until this interview came up in my feed. I cannot comprehend parents being indifferent to their own child, they missed an incredible blessing in not knowing him. We are the richer for it. Thank you for sharing this. ❤
Your comment is so meaningful! So right on . . . how they missed the chance to know a man full of purpose, hopes, dreams, and endurance. In the shadows of others, God had a grander plan; and He does for each of us who seek His will and to know Him as our true Father. Another grand reminder to all of us . . . to value and truly seek to know others as they are and not as we wish them to be. Thankful for your faithful connection to this wonderful ministry. - Colleen
Excellent vonversation on depression. A great Father of the faith, Mr. Swindoll is!
Thankful this was meaningful to you. I pray you are encouraged today and in the days ahead. - Colleen
I listened to Chuck in my 20 my kids heard it, then my son listened with a friend and the friend was amazed by the teaching supported the ministry for over 20 years. Thanks for the radio ministry. God is so good.
WOW! How incredible! What a blessing to know you have continued to leave a legacy of love for Jesus and the teaching of His word. - Colleen
Meeting Pastor Swindoll was one of the very special moments in my life. ❤ God's blessings
So wonderful to hear this. My dad would be truly surprised to hear this . . . and I will tell him! =) - Colleen
My father always told us to never be jealous but go and learn from them. Ask how they did it or watch them. He was the happiest man and got along with everyone. What a gift from God!
A master class in leadership.
I really enjoyed listening to to Chuck's swindell's story with his daughter
Great to know you were encouraged. Thank you. - Colleen
I love to see how you spend time getting rejuvenated. It’s a good reminder to all of us to stop and take care of our selves and connect with the Lord Jesus. Beautiful! Good job! ❤
Thank you. Self-care can be a difficult choice but without it, we have little to offer others. Blessed by your comment. - Colleen
31:45 I so love Pastor Chuck Swindoll. I can relate to his story. My mom told me how ugly I was. parents always reminded me I was a mistake or accident. I never heard my Father say I love you. To keep your sanity you must learn to cope. Destroys a child's self esteem. To this day I never take selfie or pictures. I hear my parents voices thinking Ill hear I love You. But I know I never will. I've lost all my parents and grandparents. I thought because my parents didn't want me God didn't. That was costly. I read Pastor Chucks book The Grace Awakening. Changed my life. Through his teaching at Insights and Stonebriar Community Church has taught me that God loves me unconditionally. Thank You Pastor Chuck. Thank You Mrs. Thompson for this interview. It must be an blessing having a Godly man like Pastor Chuck as your Dad.
I’m deeply moved by your story. I'm so very sorry for the haunting words you internalized as a child . . . yet it's impossible not to when something is said over and over. Isn’t it life-giving to have God’s timeless and true promises? He will NEVER leave or forsake us, He is with us, loves us, has a GOOD plan for our lives . . . even if those who raised us never saw or cultivated it. I pray the ministry continues to fill you with God’s presence, purpose, and peaceful comfort. - Colleen
I’ve loved this beloved Bible teacher since I discovered him on the radio about 40 years ago. He’s put flesh on so many books of the Bible and it’s historic characters. I never realized the shoes he had to walk in, the trials he had to navigate 35:49 through to. I’ve always loved his special laughter…so contagious. It’s even more precious when I hear it during this interview. Thank you for all the years of ministry, Chuck Swindoll. The teaching, ministry…and oh yes…that laughter, that contagious joyful laughter. I think “you got IT”!
If you only knew how many have loved my dad’s grand laughter!!!!! I smile as I write this to you. So thankful you have come to know Jesus as you do through the ministry. May your life be contagious to those you meet as well. Thankful for your wonderfully kind words. - Colleen
I listened to Chuck Slidell on the radio every morning for about two years in the 1980s. I thought he was wonderful. Then one morning he started ranting about the Catholic church. I couldn't believe the lies that were coming out of his mouth and the hatred in his voice. I had been raised with very religious and knowledgeable Protestant grandparents but never heard anything like this. I was devastated. I had thought so much of him. After watching this I guess maybe I can see where this ignorance and hatred came from.
Thank you so much for sharing from your heart🌹 I too have listened to you over the radio for years and words can not express how much you have touched my life ! I am so grateful to GOD for putting YOU in my life🙏🏻🙏🏻😇😇. Blessings my brother and Friend!! To be Big in the eyes of GOD is everything … to please HIM is so AWESOME 👏👏
YES!!!! It is Everything! Such an honor to hear how this ministry has blessed your life. Thank you for your comment. - Colleen

Thank you 🙏
Beautiful, amazing, inspiring testimony.
I am 62 years old. I came to the Lord Oct. 1, 1982. After marrying in 1983 and 21 years old learning the ways of this Christian life... I began to listen to Chuck Swindoll on the radio every morning before going to work. As he told the story of Joseph, the Bible came alive to me... as a story of real people struggling with things I could relate to in my life. I was a girl who grew up with sexual abuse and went through abortion as a teen.... And I can still hear your Dad's voice quote Joseph's words to his brothers, "you meant it for evil but God meant it for good! ". The love in his voice as he brought the Bible alive to me was the foundation of a life as an overcomer! I've been through many loves and losses and am now a widow, but my God is always with me and always for me. I'm grateful for your Dad! It's an honor to pass on the baton I got from your Dad! Blessings!
Tears came to my eyes as I read your comment. How faithful God is to restore our broken hearts, to be with us when life falls apart, to remind us that He is for us when we’ve blown it, to redeem our pains, and to give us purpose to move forward. The story of Joseph is one of my favorites as well . . . to know “BUT GOD WAS WITH JOSEPH” . . . and He is with you this day and every day. Blessings to you as you continue trusting in Him. - Colleen
