I thank you both for this program. I needed to hear once again from people who have and are walking the walk that God is good by definition in every imaginable and unimaginable way. Since November I have been dealing with medical problems that in the past would have overturned my boat and swept me into deep, stormy seas. Yet, I am not being overturned or drowned. I am not giving into despair. I am not questioning God's goodness or healing power. I give God all the glory. Thank you both for your honesty and vulnerability in speaking how God has worked in your lives.

Phew! She, Colleen, spoke the very word I shared today: LAMENT! Ugh! I am in the WORST season, and this is especially hard since I am now working with Believers. The manipulation, control, and unprofessionalism has not only “dashed” my expectations; my expectations are shattered. I am seeing a counselor now because I can ONLY think I must have missed the Lord by accepting this position with those claiming to be like Christ. I’m no better. Don’t get me wrong. Yet, upon returning to a “Christian” work environment, it is more toxic than the extremely secular workplace I left! Gosh! It is tough!
So, after editing this post, I am glad Colleen addressed that issue and acknowledged lamenting is a real and present issue. I will “invite” God into the space and season I am going through. Your prayers are appreciated! Thank you.

      Hello!
While I wish to say your experience is unique, there are countless people I’ve talked with who have endured tremendous bewilderment and pain in an environment you described. I have had to work through this as well and I can promise you, while the valley you’re in is deep and dark, the shadows will lift and you will be a changed person if you choose to walk through this with Jesus. Through the power of our Helper -the Holy Spirit- lamenting, allowing your character to be shaped and refined, and leaning in to Jesus who understands this more than anyone on this earth ... you will one day reflect on this season as transforming. It's hard to understand, but all we encounter has been “entrusted” to us ... the good, bad, painful, and joyful and all in between. There is nothing you are facing that God is shocked by. I pray you choose to seek counseling if needed and continue processing through it because there is an end to this season.
Finally, an older book by Gene Edwards titled “A Tale of Three Kings” was a powerful resource for me; I’ve suggested it to many others. You can find it here: a.co/d/2BZafUn . Another helpful work is Steve Arterburn’s book titled “Toxic Faith”. It too is an older book, but the truths are timeless.
Here’s a chart taken from his work: preview.redd.it/toxic-faith-checklist-v0-tbvk2s9xw3e91.jpg?auto=webp&s=b2b6d5c61598905b94de9fcc170de2fc40465c6a
May God be with you as you trust and travel this unexpected path with HIM.
      - Colleen

Suggestion: coach the person interviewed to answer responsively. That is, to answer the question with details asked for, not vague generalizations. For example, around 14:00, Colleen asked what the childrens' symptoms are. Katie never answers that question. She, instead, just says that they had to get treatment for them. Re-record parts where answers are wasting the listener's time. Perhaps, Katie later DID answer responsively. I couldn't stand listening to her (she was overly careful/vague from the get-go), so I bailed out at 14:38. (yes, I need to pray to be more patient :) )

Oh! You’re not the only one who couldn’t stand listening to this guest! She used spiritual bypassing from the first second she opened her mouth… I hate it when Christians put on a façade to portray themselves as “greater than thou”… Urgh!
I love Colleen for being authentic and vulnerable ❤

I was discouraged at first, but I just interpreted those feelings as a reflection of the challenges I am walking though: this is a tough season for me.
Indeed, the guest probably has a gift of joy. So, albeit nature or nurture, I think she is in a season of peace and is sharing from that space. As for me, I nearly turned the show off until Colleen discussed “lament.”
After that pain in me was exposed, I was able to hear the guest speaker and accept her position and especially her very happy countenance despite talking about a very challenging subject matter.
      P. S. Towards the end, Katie, the guest, did say she is in a “sweet spot” right now. So, I think the Lord used her happiness to show me the pain I am expressing, sadly, on a daily basis.
